Before my flight (UA4786) on 9/22/18, while checking in, Immediately after handing over my ID, the kind staff (1 guy, 1 gal) mentioned that my flight was going to be delayed 19 minutes, making for TIGHT connection in Chicago, and before I could begin to worry, or ask, the WONDERFUL STAFF was analyzing possible alternatives, and within a minute (seemed like seconds), asked me if I'd be willing to change my flights, ensuring my connection in Chicago, and putting me at my final destination only 30 minutes after my original schedule. Good flight but very young Pilots that had trouble controlling the air craft at times. Outside of that the customer service off the plane was poor. I found a cell phone in the bathroom and brought it to one of the united lines hoping they would call on the loud speaker saying if anyone lost a phone please come to gate C92 like she should have. Instead the woman huffed and puffed about it and threw the IPhone 8 in the garbage can beside her. It's just sad to see. read more

I think that United wins most improved for 2016! They're upgrading the fleet, the employees are happier, service is excellent, the illy coffee actually tastes good, especially with the complimentary waffle that is warmed up over the cup. Most of the jets fit standard roll aboard carry-ons, and the cost of flights is quite reasonable. Keep up the good work! read more

Dear United Airlines, thanks for f'ing up my trip! So you do this thing where you fail to enforce your own rules and then kick people off if you need to save space. So back in April, I was looking forward to my first day in Austin however, you needed space in the overhead compartments so you were picking off people who booked through a third party site. Hey, I still paid real money! Despite that I was the first one there, two hours early, I was told that I would be left behind although I had a very small bag compared to others who even had multiple bags. I had asked about that, if your intention is to save space, why aren't you kicking the people off who are actually hogging all the space? The girl was kind of getting annoyed with me but you know what? Too bad. Answer my legitimate question. The only explanation was because I booked through a third party site and didn't have an assigned seat. Hmmm. Ok, and that saves you overhead space because why? She couldn't answer because it made no sense. But hey, take a $300 I'm sorry voucher that I will never use. It basically releases them from any and all liability for f'ing up your trip with their ridiculous and fraudulent practices. Well, I didn't arrive in Austin until late at night. I had to order take out food from the hotel bar because I was starving. I missed a whole day of that beautiful city because this airline can't get it together. Come to find out this is standard procedure! Yup! They all do it and they don't give a shit what your plans are. My advice to you is get your assigned seating when you book. It's apparently the only way to avoid this ridiculous practice. Every single flight I took on that trip (4 total) did the same thing! They do ask for volunteers first but if I wanted to go later I would've booked a later flight. This should not be allowed. It's such a hassle. I was surprised however that my luggage showed up in Austin and I really didn't have any faith that it would. One star for that. read more

My wife and I booked a vacation to Yellowstone using United Airlines, but cancelled due to an email from the park stating it will remain 30% closed due to the ongoing pandemic. We were credited back everything in the booking (hotel & car) BUT NOT THE UNITED AIRFARE. To go on the trip would of presented hardships for both of us, yet when we tried to contact them, they said too bad, and refused to credit us. We are both MILEAGE PLUS MEMBERS, AND USE UNITED'S CREDIT CARD AS WELL, which after this joke of an experience will be cancelling both, and never use them again, and yell from the highest peaks what a joke united airlines is to use. Great airline for those who fear flying because you won't get off the ground! They routinely do not have gates in Newark to fly to and they continue to knowingly waste everyone's time and plans. My daughters morning flight 11/15/19 from Albany, NY to Newark was delayed 6 times before finally boarding in the afternoon. They then taxied to the runway where they sat for over an hour before bringing them back to the gate and disembarking the plane. They then wanted people to wait to see when a gate would open in Newark. We found out that this happens all the time and they usually won't be able to leave until 8 pm or the next day. We then asked for the money difference to take another airlines flight and they refused. WOW! She then flew out Southwest, albeit too late to meet her boyfriend for the Peru soccer game in Miami that they had planned for months. read more

Unfortunately this airline seems to be persistently challenged in terms of sticking to its schedule. This has nothing to do with the weather, but in how they schedule their flights crews. I am in Albany airport for a 9:15am flight that will be at least 2 hours late due to crew unavailability. Why did you sell us tickets for a flight that didn't have a crew available.? read more

I had a flight booked for 4 p.m. to Chicago then on to St. Louis. when I checked in online they offered me an opportunity to move to an earlier flight for a guaranteed fee of 75 dollars to leave at 12pm instead. I get there early and they canceled the flight because of mechanical difficulties. When I got back to the ticket counter they would not refund my $75 and offered me no other flight to get there earlier than my original scheduled flight. They also would not give me a seat assignment on either flight. They have no one in charge at the ticket counter. In fact they only have customer service people who don't understand what it means to be a customer service person. I highly recommend when traveling to find a different airline. Ms Beekhum needs to learn how to communicate as a professional adult. I would never have her employed in any company that required her to speak. read more

Gate agents and check personnel were friendly and helpful. There are only a limited amount of flights in and out so my recommendation is to book an earlier flight in case of maintenance or travel issues. read more

This evening was the worst experience I have ever had on United Airlines. Chicago to Albany, N.Y. Flight UA1264 departing ORD at 7:09 pm. The female Latina attendant was extremely rude and arrogant. She made a point of telling me and another passenger what was NOT in her job description. Definitely not the type of customer service I have come to expect from United Airlines. I have been loyal for years and in fact, I am a 1K premier traveler. She made me question my loyalty to United Airlines. My brother has been trying to get me to switch over to American airlines.... I had the displeasure of flying United Airlines recently back and forth to care for my sick father. I booked with United as they did have many choices of flights to my destination. But after paying full price for each ticket, i was always designated to board last, in group 4. What I noticed is that they let everyone board until only half the plane is full and then without even checking whether full or not, start confiscating carry ons, and saying the overhead compartments are full. But once on the plane, one soon realizes that no, there is actually plenty of room. Given that I paid full price for my ticket, I am offended that they let everyone on with multiple carry ons, them pick on me and tell me I can have none! I found this particularly stressful on my last few trips, because after my dad had a bad fall, I immediately got on a plane to rush to the hospital and did not want to check a bag. I had to beg and cry, they finally relented, only for me to find half the carry on space still empty! On a return trip after my dad passed away, I literally had my fathers entire life of documents and sentimental items in my carry on, again given last group 4 to board, and again I had to cry and beg to be allowed to take on my one carry on, after they allowed everyone to board with as many as they wanted. So I do have a United credit card, and actually travel often for leisure, but don't travel for business anymore. I simply do not understand why I am always last to board. OK I have no status, but I am still entitled to my one carry on. United should get their act together, and have rules that they apply fairly. One carry on regardless of ticket class, status, or urge to discriminate. The cabin crew are just being lazy or are they following unspoken rules? Either way I hate flying United. I flew enough times recently to know its not a one off situation. read more

I booked a cross country trip that started with a leg on a short United commuter plane. Was actually told that United now allows NO carry on bags (at least on short trips/small planes). Yes, flying is expensive. But- my husband and I were leaving for our honeymoon to Hawaii and had on "Mr. and Mrs." T-shirts. We were booked for coach seats (as you know- very uncomfortable. The flight attendant realized we were recently married and there were two empty economy plus seats. He upgraded us to them and also comp'd our beverages for the flight. I had the worst experience with United yesterday... My first time traveling alone too. My flight was supposed to leave at 9:30am, boarding to start around 9. 9am comes around, nothing is happening... 9:30 rolls around.. Still nothing. Everyone starts asking the agent what's going on and she has no clue. So what, we're just supposed to sit there? End up getting a text AFTER the plane was supposed to take off saying it was delayed until 10:30. Okay, not a huge deal, but it meant I might miss my connection. I couldn't find an agent to help me change it, so I ended up having to go all the way back down to where I originally checked my bag to get help. I was put up as a back up on a 2:30 flight at my connection in DC. Awesome, I think. 10:30 rolls around and we are boarding the plane. I am sitting in the second row and can see straight into the cockpit, where I see a puff of smoke. Seconds later, the pilot announces that we can't leave. So we all get back off the plane. The plane is now delayed until 12. 12 rolls around and everyone around me starts saying that the flight is canceled. I didn't get a text but when I looked in the United App, sure enough, it said canceled. So I call and get put on a flight to Chicago leaving at 5:30. My flight landed at 6:44 and this customer care lady put me on a flight that started boarding at 6:45. I was very worried about making it. I did end up making it and arriving in Denver at 9:30pm rather than 2:00 like originally planned. But when I finally arrived in Denver, I get a text that says my luggage was put on a later flight. I take to the rep and they say they will have it delivered the next day. But when I left, I got a text that said they are trying to locate my luggage. So now they don't even know where it is at. I feel lied to, jerked around, and no one has once apologized to me. I spent 9 hours in the Albany airport alone!!! And now, since I made the mistake of going with United, I don't have my luggage either! NEVER AGAIN. read more

This had been my worst experience flying ever. I wasn't able to get a earlier stand by flight, which was ok with me. What I wasn't ok with was not having a seat on my original flight while stand by passengers were given seats. The terminal personal wasn't able to explain it either. I was then given a later flight to the same destination. When i tried to retrieve my luggage because planes were cancelled due to weather for days, i was told I would only be able to get the luggage at my final destination. I arrived in Albany 3 days before the flight with my luggage. I have no transportation to pick up my suitcase and now the airlines are going to charge me to deliver the bag. It has been one fight after another. Then when I tried to call reservations to discuss my concerns, 5 different times, my wait was over a hour before the line was disconnected. I have not been able to even speak with anyone. It is horrible. I will never fly with United again! read more

What a horrible experience! I paid over $1,000 dollars for a last minute flight and my flights were delayed due to staffing issues (twice), missed connections, rerouted due to flight cancellations, luggage lost, arrived to my final destination too late to rent a car due to the delays in my flights, and no hotel rooms available in the area due to graduations. Not to mention I witnessed 2 occasions where customer service employees were yelling at customers that were frustrated with delays and cancellations. These customers were not yelling at them. So for $1,000 I have no luggage, have been awake for over 24 hours, and have had to spend the night at the airport waiting for the car rentals to open again. NEVER AGAIN UNITED AIRLINES! This is the epiphany of bad. From their 800 line, the mileage plus rewards, their employees at the help desk to their crew on the plane. I haven't had anything but bad experiences on the unfortunate many flights I've booked with them. The likelihood of it being an unpleasant with United is always higher than other airlines. I called today for help on resetting my password, I got transferred twice and then they gave me a phone number to the helpline. So I called, I was yelled at by the guy that was suppose to help me because my mileage plus number for some reason did not match their records online. Instead of trying to help me solve the issue he continue to argue with me on why I should listen to him and do exactly his prompt, so I did. I was trying to tell him it's the same message, he did not apologize instead try to blame me for not following the prompt correctly. Seriously!? I asked for his first and last name he refuse to give me his last name. I wish that United can find better employees to help their business flourish because they seem to have great flights to all the destinations I'd like to travel to. Flying home several years ago from Atlanta to Albany arrived at airport in Atlanta 2 hrs early. Agent very politely ask if we like a earlier flight to get home we agreed and got on earlier flight which we landed in Dulles in DC to transfer to head to Albany. That's where things went bad getting to our gate we saw are flight being worked on by mechanics outside. That's not the problem I understands things break but about 30 minutes standing there the gate attendant announced our flight was cancelled and frequent flyers and women with children would be placed on the later flight to Albany. Once again that's fair he coldly announced the rest of passengers would be put up in hotels tonight with 20.00 credit to eat. It gets better because I thought I be home by 9pm I checked all my baggage LOL back in Atlanta. We were told to go down and wait for hotel shuttle we waited aprox 10 of us out in cold and snow flurries for aprox. 35 mins no shuttle. Finally a Holiday Inn shuttle who had seen us on his last two run stopped and ask what hotel we were staying at. Apparently the hotel we were suppose to stay at used another shuttle we didn't know total lack of communication.!!!! He took us aboard and made arrangements for Holiday Inn to accommodate us even had bar stay open so we could grab a sandwich . Got our sandwich and next morning transferred back to airport. This time ticket agents were very kind and got us on flights I ask her if my luggage made it to Albany last nite and was told yes to pick up at United office. We took flight to Pittsburgh then Albany I can't blame airline they did best they could when we arrived at Albany went to office my luggage wasn't there the young man checked and said it was in LaGuardia would be flown in late tonight and I get it in AM. He was polite and doing best he could told me to call in morning I called in AM and no kidding you can't make this up told my luggage is in Syracuse I have it in 2-3 hrs hung up doorbell rang same time I hung up there's my luggage. Most of staff was polite and I understand things break but there was a total breakdown in communication. read more
