Yes our red eye was delayed from about 10:30pm to 9am the next morning. We do not fly United often. We never left the house so it's not like we were stuck at the airport. They did give a $15 food credit, I think they could have given more. The actual flight was fine, once it happened. The positive was that they do have an outlet to charge devices, which is important on a 5 hour flight. Service was fine.

United really needs to up there game and become a world class International airline. The food has gotten worse and not sure which caterer they have hired recently. The Fish tasted like hospital bland food and had no flavors. They served exactly the same meals twice on both sectors. What is going on with folks deciding these type of things for passengers. The business class seat was not that comfortable and they don't show on seat map, if the window is visible. Chose the wrong sat for a 24 hour flight and got nothing out of it as could not see anything. Also, they did not allow to choose a special meal throughout this flight after paying such high price. Washrooms were not being cleaned. Snacks were also very ordinary. What are we paying for? Compared to Singapore Airlines and Emirates, this does not stand out at all.

Charging At Every Seat (on my flight / aircraft)

Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport has seen improvements over the years. I've traveled through (the now defunct Terminal 2), Terminal 3 and Terminal 4. The old Terminal 2 was outdated, had no charging stations and the "regular" wall outlets were in such poor repair, it seemed plugging anything in would immediately cause a fire. It's only benefit was getting from curb to gate in minutes. I'm glad United Airlines has moved to Terminal 3. Terminal 3 was completely remodeled and expanded. It has a sleek, modern feel and plenty of amenities. It can be a hike to get to your gate, so arrive on time. To make your trip a bit smoother, I strongly recommend using the UA App. You can download Boarding Passes to your Apple Wallet, get updates (push, text, email) to stay informed and arrange for (paid) WiFi. Be sure to download the app PRIOR to your flight; you won't be able to do so during the flight. Terminal 4 is acceptable and the recently (last year or two) remodeled Southwest Airlines concourse has a cool, relaxing vibe. On my most recent visit, I traveled through Terminal 3. While busy, it didn't seem so overcrowded that the staff couldn't handle to flow of traffic. In fact, United Airlines employees were plentiful and eager to assist. I'm just not sure why their "Express Baggage Check In" has the word "express" in it. It's just a set of self serve kiosks to print tags. There's nothing "express" about it. While Economy Plus offers more legroom, the seats (bottom and back) are hard and uncomfortable. It's especially difficult for cross country or long haul flights. The number of charging stations throughout the airport is appreciated. For food, Sky Harbor has plenty of options, including many local favorites. I just wish they were open more hours throughout the day. Most are useless if you're taking a red eye flight. This is particularly noteworthy, given my red eye flight offered no dinner or snack service and it was "lights out" shortly after takeoff. As long as you arrive in the recommended two hour time frame, you can make your way through the airport with ease. Just be sure to download the UA app in advance and bring your own snacks to avoid getting "hangry".

Took a first class flight to Houston and I must say every experience is different. ... 1. All other first class flights with United we are offered a drink before take off and warm towel. But, not on this flight 2. We always have great customer service!! 3. We preordered our flight meal but when it came to this flight they were out of the meal my husband picked!! Mind you he picked his meal 5 days before the flight so you would think they would have set one aside! The reason this is an issue is because my husband is on a certain diet so the other options they had left didn't fit his needs so I had to give him half of my meal. I wish consistency was across the board.

I've had my good and bad experiences flying with them as a card holder. My understanding of what this company was growing up and how I was treated as customer "back in the day" has changed tremendously since then. The friendly skies, the "on time machine" and "something special in the air" is a far cry from what it was then. They've failed on almost every level of the things they upheld so vigorously during the 80's. "Doing what we do best" isn't what we get nowadays. It's the sign of the times I guess, but honestly such a shame too! You're paying a high premium and having to do most of the work yourself when entering the airport. Staff is simply there to socialize amongst one another & if you have questions or need guidance they seemed more bothered by that, that you've interrupted their conversations. The on board staff is just going through the motions without any type of respectful greeting, personalities are as dull as a butter knife, zero friendliness and lack of appreciation of their passengers. As a valued member, I will continue to hope for the best, but will always be prepared for the unknown and what my experience has been lately versus what my expectations are moving forward with this airline.

Although I was transferred once, the second representative was knowledgeable and provided the information I needed. It wasn't perfect, but it was still a workable experience. I'm leaving this review to share how things went for me personally.

I was originally booked on the 8:00 a.m. flight from Phoenix to San Diego. The morning of my…read moreflight, I changed my reservation to the 9:30 a.m. departure. Because of the same-day change, I was not automatically assigned a seat and was instructed to speak with the gate agent upon arrival. When I arrived at the gate, I was greeted by a gentleman named Troy. He was kind, professional, and reassuring. He located my name on the standby/assignment list and told me everything looked fine. He simply advised me to refresh the app in about 20 minutes, as seats would begin to be assigned. A couple of minutes later, I still had not received a seat assignment, so I returned to the counter to ask for clarification. That is when I was helped by Holly. From the very beginning, Holly told me that I was not getting on the flight and that there was nothing she could do. Her demeanor was dismissive, cold, and lacked any sense of empathy or willingness to investigate the situation further. Rather than listening or trying to help, she repeatedly insisted there was nothing she could do. At that point, I became overwhelmed and began crying. I explained that I had been awake for nearly two days and had just admitted my mother to a psychiatric hospital. I was emotionally exhausted and simply trying to get home after an incredibly traumatic experience. I even handed Holly my A-List card, hoping she would at least take another look at my reservation or provide some guidance. Instead, she continued repeating that there was nothing she could do. What makes this interaction even more frustrating is that Troy immediately advocated on my behalf. While Holly walked away, Troy took the initiative to help me. Within moments, he was able to resolve the issue and get me onto the flight just before boarding was completed. That alone raises an obvious question: if Troy was able to help me, why was I repeatedly told by Holly that nothing could be done? I fully understand that airline operations are complex and that not every problem has an immediate solution. My complaint is not about policy or procedures. It is about how I was treated during one of the most difficult moments of my life. As an A-List member, I have always appreciated Southwest's customer service, which is why this interaction was so shocking. Compassion costs nothing. Listening costs nothing. Even if there had truly been no available solution, there was a respectful and empathetic way to communicate that. Instead, I was made to feel like an inconvenience when I was already carrying an overwhelming emotional burden. I want to specifically recognize Troy for his professionalism, patience, and genuine kindness. He treated me with dignity, took the time to listen, and ultimately solved the problem. He is exactly the type of employee who represents the Southwest brand well. I sincerely hope this incident is reviewed, not only because of my experience but because no customer--especially one clearly in distress--should be treated the way I was. I hope Holly receives additional coaching on customer service, empathy, and communication. A few moments of compassion can make all the difference, and unfortunately, that compassion was absent during my interaction with her.
