So I normally only do food reviews, until my experience at this place. I needed brake work badly and I came across a few reviews of this place and decided to give them a call (not to mention it's behind my neighborhood). Right from the the first call to them the owner, Ryan was very present, personable and accommodating. I didn't need an appointment and he assured me he could help and penciled me in. The location is very convent and very clean and welcoming. Not to mention the family dogs running around! I had a great experience. Friendly place and staff. Everything was very well explained to me and I even got to speak to the mechanics as well as Ryan. Everything was completed in the same day and nothing felt upsold. Huge and costly mistake taking my car to United Auto in Flowery Branch. Shame on me for trying to support a local business that doesn't deserve it, in my opinion. Summary: I understand that auto shops need to mark up parts (on top of wholesale prices) to make a profit. The owner of the United Auto Shop said that 'they mark up parts by 35% over their cost'. After two verbal requests, I finally got (after I paid the invoice) the part numbers for the parts (supposedly) replaced. I looked up the retail prices and saw that they charged me over 2X retail price for identical, readily available parts ($2,800 for parts that I could buy at retail for $1,300). When I discovered this, I called to speak with the owner (Ryan). He said that he would not rebate me 'one red cent', which indicates to me that he's perfectly fine with gouging his customers well above his stated policy. I would think such (in my opinion, egregious) pricing practices were required to be disclosed to consumers and protected under Consumer Protection Regulations. BTW, they didn't complete the work correctly, so I will need to take the car to another shop to get it done right. Details: My car was leaking hydraulic fluid in the retractable roof area and into the vehicle. I had viewed a YouTube video showing the exact same symptoms on the same make / model of car but thought it better to take it to an auto shop to have it fixed instead of doing it myself. Mistake number one was taking my car to United Auto. When describing the issue to the shop manager, he said that he had experience with such problems and knew how to fix them. The manager called me with a rough estimate (not a quote, let alone a written quote) before they even diagnosed the issue, 'for about $5,000' if all of the entire cylinder systems needed to be replaced, which he said he doubted would be necessary. Still no quote. Another mistake on my part. Then he said something that should have been the biggest red flag. He offered to buy my car from me (presumably at a substantial discount) before the work was started. Based on my forty years of business experience, I would say that ethical businesspeople don't do that. But I said no thanks, and let it pass. Another mistake of mine - I should know better. I provided the YouTube video that showed the exact same issue for minimal cost and effort. The representative said that he reviewed the video thanked me and said that he shared it with the mechanic. After doing their work (which is still not complete), which took much longer than they estimated, they charged me over $5,600. Of course, their website states that they can levy a lien on your car if you don't pay in full. So, I did pay, given my experience with them up to this point, and then called the owner to discuss their, in my opinion, egregious charges for the parts (setting aside the extensive time charged me for the work). I requested a reasonable rebate just to adjust the parts pricing from over 2X retail versus what he said was only 35% over wholesale. His response: 'Not one red cent rebate'. This is one of the worst places I have ever been to. I had to get my car fixed and when they diagnosed they told me it was the fuel pump. So I had them fix it and it broke down again and they said it was the relay so I paid to have it fixed by them. $1200 later the car has broke down again and I will never take it back to them they are hacks and don't do good work I would never recommend someone here ever. read more

I wish I could put zero stars. I paid $6,000 to have a refurbished engine put in my son's truck. It didn't even last 2 months. They claimed it wasn't being covered under warranty bc it over heated. Yeah it over heated because of a failed engine. Cylinder 2. They said the tabs that are glued on were off claiming that means it over heated. Nobody can prove the tabs were still on this engine when put in (this wasn't a new engine) or these scam artists could have taken the tabs off so they wouldn't have to do the work. They said there was nothing they could do and I can pay to have them fix or pay for a new engine. They were not willing to make this right and I was left with being out $6,000 and an engine that failed within 2 months. Shame on them my son needed this truck for his senior year so he could drive part of the day for an automotive program. I sure hope my sons become a better man than these people who scammed us out of $6,000 for an engine not lasting 2 months. Luckily a General Motors rep heard this story and called my son to tell them an anonymous donor will be taking over the costs to get him back in his truck so he can finish out his senior year to get him going in his career path. I never thought I would say the words "honest and fair" in the same sentence when describing a auto repair shop. That was until I ran across United Auto Care. I own a 2010 Range Rover who's brake pad light displayed as needing repair. From the initial phone call to UAC I felt at ease. Took my Range in and they did an inspection and gave me a quote to the repair cost. Although high, i knew it was still cheaper than taking the car to the dealership. Received my car back within 2-days only because i requested a additional part to be replaced that had to be ordered. The drive out price was cheaper than the estimated price because during the repair they determined that my rear brakes didn't need to be replaced...so they didn't. I wouldn't have known one way or the other but they did the HONEST thing and didn't charge me for a parts and repairs I didn't need. I can tell they are Faith based individuals and it felt good to see honest, sincere, and trustworthy people. I will be back and will recommend them to all my family and friends. Zero for them! Emergency so I didn't go to my regular HONEST mechanic Garrards in Sugar Hill. Sadly went to United Auto RipOff when back lights went out. THey tell me 130Diagnostic (free at so many places); I went to check on it in the 'far away' garage they took it to when John (mechanic) screams at me throws me out slams & locks the door (so I couldnt see what was going on I guess); Danny tells me I need an $800 relay that takes 3 days to order +$400 Labor. I say cars' not worth $500. THen he walks out & immediately comes back saying good news, John can bypass the relay & everything will work normally. Only $480. No choice wanted my car on the road. Brother found the part at autozone for $85. Just discovered the lights dont work. My reg mechanic told me I got ripped off & will squeeze me in today. My wife had a 'feeling' about Danny when she met me there that day. GOing to report to BBB if that matters anymore. read more

Do not bring your car here for an oil change. I made an appointment one day for 2 p.m. to have mine changed. At 2:20 p.m. my car was still sitting in their parking area. I finally asked someone (the man with the ear plugs talking on his phone the whole time) when they might take my car and they finally began working on it. Over an hour later it was complete. But that's not all. Several weeks later I was starting to hear a scraping sound coming from underneath my car so took it to our repair man. He told us that whoever did our last oil change did not secure everything back properly and a bolt had come off and the outer metal part was scraping on the ground and I needed a new part to put it back together. They're also very fast, while keeping the quality of their work exceptional! The waiting room has coffee & snacks on hand, which I've never really had time to have more than one cup, because of their speedy service. I can't provide zero stars, so I suppose I'll just have to provide one. I've given these folks multiple chances, and they never pass up an opportunity to let me down at my expense. My first experience was following an overheat situation on my Toyota Sequoia. When they took it in they told me I had a pinhole leak in the radiator, changed it, charged me, and sent me on my way. After a trip up and down I-85, I immediately overheated and had to stop multiple times to add fluid and just allow it to cool down. I almost blew the new radiator in the process. A simple check in the lot following the radiator change would have quickly discovered this issue and is standard procedure after you change a radiator. 5-hrs of creeping north later I was back in their lot, where they told me the thermostat was bad. That was obviously the original problem that took out the first radiator. I've worked on cars my whole life. Again, it an obvious problem if you properly diagnose it. Their tech came out and started lecturing me about older vehicles and how when you touch them stuff just happens, comes loose, etc. They charged me again, and denied any responsibility for it. Shame on me, I was dumb enough to go a third time because I had a nail in a tire. All I wanted was a plug. No can do. They asserted the nail was too close to the edge even though it was firmly in the heart of the tread and near the middle. They refused to do it. Kyle then showed me another nail in another tire(true this). Now I'm in for $700 for 4-cheap tires. OK. I come back 5-hrs later. They tell me the truck is ready. As I approach the truck, all four hubcap covers are off and laying in the passenger seat floor. I went back in, and Kyle proclaims, "oh yeah, they all broke when the took them off to change the tires. It happens. You can put them back on but they'll just fall off. All 4 of them just broke. How 'bout that?! That was all after I paid them of course before I actually had to go out myself to find this. Bottom line- These guys are idiots starting with Ryan and trickling down to the morons they hire. They pretend to be honest, Christian, etc. Their owner is a conman. If you want to roll the dice, good luck. I highly recommend staying as far away as possible from these folks as possible. Best case scenario, you get lucky, and they fix something simple. They gave me a price and when I came to pick it up because they were going to over charge me for a new one with labor, they charged me more with extra fees I never asked them to do! Sometimes a business impresses you right away and at other times they impress you over time by consistently doing the right thing, performing quality work and striving for excellent customer service. United Auto Care is the latter. The owner of the practice, Mark is very customer focused, consistently making the time to meet all new customers and describing in detail the work that must be done and why it's important for the health of your car. You don't feel taken advantage of, or feel like you have to be on guard for the unnecessary up sale common at some other car repair shops. On difficult tasks they take the time to figure out what's going on and are willing to work with your budget and rank order repairs based on severity. Let's face it, older cars may require more repairs at a given time than your bank account may allow. I have a 2001 Jeep that was acting up for me but not at the mechanics (sound familiar?), Mark had a technician drive that car around town until he understood the problem and could fix it appropriately. Terrible just terrible. I wouldn't ever recommend anyone to bring their Ford power stroke to this very unprofessional "shop". Brought my truck up there cause it was close to where I was working at while I was there they were literally bashing other diesel shops. I was quoted one price, then charged a completely different price which was way over the estimate,then after that i had to take it to Towe Diesel so they could actually fix it the correct way. I had to rate it one star because they didn't have any negative stars. Point of the matter I would never recommend anybody to this "Diesel Shop". So my car was leaking oil and I brought it to them. They found not only the gasket was leaking but the valve covers were leaking as well. And they were able to get it done in just a day. Plus my dad took his truck there because it wouldn't start. They found that it was just a simple loose connection and fixed it for free. Pretty honorable of them! read more

This shop may do good work for others, but they completely dropped the ball with me. Accurate and honest review; see photos on Google review. I posted the review on Google and they just made up more BS about how they "reviewed" the conversation. First off, Mr. Bennett called me from his cell phone and there is no recording seeing as the alleged "facts" they mentioned in the reply are also completely made up. McDonough, GA is a totally made up location. I am considering filing a claim with the BBB since they think it's OK to try and defame me, calling me a liar. Total BS. The vehicle was not purchased sight unseen on the internet. When I drove away from the shop, the vehicle would not get to temperature. I am happy to discuss with anyone how Mr. Bennett tried to make me 'feel good' about doing business with them by being my buddy; when in reality, he is a "Christian" crook. The word "gash" was never used in any communications with Mr. Bennett or his service "manager". Ryan Bennett is a disgrace to honest Christian men and mechanics everywhere. I took my 7.3 van to UAC on recommendation from PowerStroke Specialty--they aren't taking new clients on 7.3s anymore. Fine, so I trusted their recommendation and it left me dealing with a bad shop. To be fair, Ryan did warn me up front, and said his average quote is between $5-8k. He did take the time to explain the estimate which was big time. I have since discovered some dishonest and false information. *Diagnostics* Their diagnostic is a rip off, as other reviewers have said in the past. The charge is two hours of labor. They claim to spend way more time than that. Maybe they do? He called me and informed me that my van needed $7k worth of repairs. I feel this is dishonest because they didn't diagnose my issues properly. *Example 1* I took the vehicle to UAC mainly for a cooling issue because the vehicle wasn't getting up to operating temperature. I purchased a ScanGauge that shows the temperature sensor data before taking the vehicle to UAC and knew that it wasn't getting over 160 degrees under any conditions. I reported this to them. UAC said that the vehicle was in fact getting up to 210 (it wasn't, I knew it wasn't) and "something must be wrong with the gauge". My ScanGauge reported the temperature readings were too low and I reported that at drop off. The fix? A bad fan clutch--a $75 part. If it hadn't been as simple as a fan clutch, I wouldn't have written this. If they hooked up a diagnostic device, they would have seen the temperature readings were too low. *Example 2* See attached photo. When Ryan and I talked, he said the T was leaking in the radiator hose line. I opted not to do this repair because I wanted to do it myself to save money. While they were doing my transmission flush/fluid change, the service manager called and claimed that now the coolant was now "pouring out" of the vehicle from this broken T in the radiator hose and "had to be replaced now". They claimed the individual part wasn't available from Motorcraft or other sources without purchasing the assembly. This would be fine, but after further investigation by myself, the T was not leaking a single drop. The hose was actually contacting a pulley in the engine compartment, causing the leak. This was due to the hose being misrouted. The new quote on the hose assembly was "about $200" per verbal from service manager. On a radiator hose. The service manager even attempted to scare me into doing the repair with them claiming it was unsafe to drive and I wouldn't make it home. Absolutely ridiculous. He didn't know I do most of my own work. I personally replaced the hose--out the door for less than $25 and 30 minutes of my time. Any trained technician would INSTANTLY recognize the pinky nail sized hole in the hose and the coolant running DOWN the hose/leaking on the pulley. See photos on Google. *Pricing* UACs pricing is outrageous compared to other shops. They charge over $320 for a transmission fluid flush/change on a 4R100 transmission. Other shops charge less than $200. I knew I needed some front end work before I dropped it off. The total labor was quoted at over $4,000, most of which to do basic front end work, which is precisely why I declined everything except a transmission flush. After looking at the quote, I see why. The numbers appear to be quite skewed. Labor cost should be lower to do everything at once on front end work since it's already torn down. They quoted the labor like they were tearing it down, changing one part, putting it all back together, and then starting over for the next part. Their quote is pretty unfair in my opinion. Make your own judgements, just beware of my experience with them. I suggest to be careful with ALL shops, as most are in fact trying to rip you off. read more

Found myself with a dead vehicle at the campground. Looked up United Auto and decided to go there as I saw a couple good reviews and it was close by. Ended up needing a new alternator and battery. Mark was very hospitable and not only gave me a ride back to the campground, but my activities had me busy till after they closed and they picked me up from the campground the next morning. This allowed me to enjoy my stay a lot more and not waste a lot of vacation time at the shop. Price was a bit high but got Interstate battery and remanufactured alternator. Could have got one cheaper elsewhere, but I know the shop will have a markup and needs to make money. Very pleasant overall experience and would highly recommend them to any out of town folks. read more

I have had my vehicle serviced several times at UAC. The staff is always friendly, informative, and professional. The premised are always neat and clean and includes an indoor play cubicle for your little ones. I am always provided with a printout of rhe various parts of my car whch were inspected, belts, tires, filters etc. Mark always goes over each area of the printout and explains why they did ,or did not ,need attention at that time. This is important to me because it lets me know that as an example, I didn't come in to get a filter changed, that they have looked at it and have let me know it DOES NOT need service. We made an appointment to have a car we were looking to buy checked out. When we called they told us it would take 1 hour, when we got there at our scheduled time they said 2 hours but as it is an hour from where we live we dropped it off. Then 3 HOURS after we dropped it off we came back because they hadn't called. When we got there we were informed they had only driven the car and not done the inspection that we requested. When I spoke to the service manager he said they hadn't got around to it. when I asked him why they make appointments and give times he said that they were busy. This shows a total lack of respect for their customers time. It also shows total lack of time management no way to run a business. I was pissed clearly and made sure they understood I was. on the way to drop off the car back to the dealer the owner called said he would make time to see the car and call us back with a time so I waited to post my review because I wanted to give them a chance to redeem themselves and since then NOTHING. they never called back with a time. Shocker they don't care about their customers. We had an appointment gave them extra time and the service manager acted like he did us a favor that he didn't charge us for driving the car THAT'S BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T DO YOUR JOB!! Approachable, quick, and efficient. I brought my car in here with an A/C failure, and within a few hours they diagnosed the problem and Mark called me while at work to let me know what was going on. Turned out it was pretty serious, but they got it fixed a day sooner than they originally estimated and my A/C works wonderfully now! After struggling with my car and feeling like I have been taken advantage of by other mechanics and Nissan services, I am glad a friend recommend me to United Auto Care. My car had an oil leakage and needed it to be fixed asap. Mark and the staff are very wonderful and take time to actually fix what is wrong in my case Nissan was telling me I needed a new engine when in reality it wasn't that. They also take the time to explain everything and even show what it is that they mean.
