The customer service was excellent. I went for a state emissions inspection and an oil change. I waited a little over an hour. Five or six chairs in the waiting area and a rest room & tv. Today I went to get my truck inspected first I did not have nothing, insurance or registration. Left and brought it back to get vehicles inspected. Now im sitting there and nothing went right for me on this day. Im so piss that I want to not ever go up there again, find somewhere else to take my vehicles. I had a major amount of work done here--rotors all around, front brakes, sway bar links, coolant flush, both front lower control arms, oil change, oil cooler replacement, thermostat replacement, and washer fluid refill. The total was about $2,500. About five minutes into driving away, my back passenger brake locked up because a caliper wasn't replaced. I had to call AAA for a tow, which cost me time and caused a major delay. The shop did fix the caliper at no extra charge, and I appreciate them taking responsibility. Because of the brake locking up, my rim was damaged, and I had to get a replacement from a junkyard and have it mounted--another $100 out of pocket. I also ended up missing an interview and work due to the situation. To be fair, the staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the pricing for the main work felt very reasonable. But the mistake created a lot of extra stress, time lost, and additional expenses. Honest people and good customer service, but I recommend double-checking everything before driving off. The owner is professional and approachable, and I never feel like they over charge or try to charge for things that are not needed. I have dealt with dealerships where they charged for items that was not required. Once I had an issue with the service but was asked to return and the item was handled without any problems. Pep boys quoted me $1300 and gave me a list of problems that needed to be fixed. I decided to think about it and a few days later, when I was down the street from United Auto Repair, I could barely get my car into their parking lot. They fixed the problem quickly and were super nice. They replaced a valve gasket cover, changed my oil, and cleaned off and tightened a belt for $200! Just changing a valve gasket cover can cost $200 according to a few sources on the internet. These are very good, honest people who know what they are doing. The repairs pep boys wanted to do wouldn't have even fixed the problem. I'll be towing my car across the city to these guys if I have to. I was very happy with the service I received. If I can give a 0 I would. They pored something in my car from an orange juice container. They overfilled my oil and tried to debate with this it is right. Last, they charged me for 6 quarts of oil, and they only used 5. I asked for the extra oil or charge me for 5.5 they told me they can't do that. They said they save the extra oil for other customers. If you want quality service and customer this is not the place!!! Bad business and I will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. I will get back on here and recommend another business once I find one. I read more

BUYER BEWARE!!!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! I took my car to United Auto Shop because it was making a squealing sound. I was told that I needed to replace my brakes, rotors, power steering pump and line for $700. I decided to get the job done. Within 30 minutes of driving my car it began making a louder squealing noise. I was told to bring the car back. The owner and the owner's son told me that they discovered a "new issue" with the caliper. They said the "new parts" revealed an "old problem" that they initially missed. I explained to them that the initial problem I had is a lot worst now and I was convinced the mechanic did something wrong. The owner's son kept disagreeing, telling me I don't understand cars and that breaks and rotors are basic repairs that no mechanic can mess up. Finally, he said come out to the car so I can show you the problem. Well, when we got to the car another mechanic began checking it out and discovered the first mechanic never took the tire off to diagnose the problem and with a simple visible inspection he found a broke piece of metal on the rotor. The mechanic lied and randomly said it was the caliper which it wasn't. The owner's son apologized and said that he was completely embarrassed. He offered me a free oil change and acknowledge that the he and the mechanic dropped the ball. Now three days later, my car is making the squealing sound again and I have to take it back for a 3rd time!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE AND DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I NEVER WRITE THESE REVIEWS BUT I SERIOUSLY DON'T WANT ANYONE ELSE TO SUFFER LIKE I AM. ONLY GO HERE IF YOU WANT TO SPEND MORE MONEY FIXING THEIR MISTAKES. Had the worst experience. Went to get an inspection. Guy hooks it up to the machine. A code pops up. He tell me 1. I can pay $120 and he'll make it go away, 2. he can reset the sensor, I drive a drive cycle and come back to re-test, 3. I can test now, pay for part of the service go get the sensor replaced and then pay for the rest of the service. I choose option 2. He tells me to go drive 50 miles and come back. I do so. Come back it is not enough. He tells me to drive another 20. I come back everything passes. Then while I am standing next to the car he says hold on. He proceeds to back out the driveway. I thought maybe he was just turning around. He completely drives away. After 10 minutes I ask another worker where he took the car. The person says he drove it to their other location on Cottman and Algon because their machine is there. I say, "well why didn't he tell me he was driving away." Guy says, do you want to call him? I call him and he's like yea I drove 2 blocks away. I do not normally tell customers I am leaving because most people do not care. When I say I am not happy that he just took my car and I am not sure of insurance implications he argues and says well you cant please everyone so what do you want me to do. Then says, you don't have to worry about your insurance and it is the law that the mechanic must drive the car for an inspection. Since none of these things are true AND he lied about where he went AND he was not even slightly apologetic for stealing my car I am pissed. DO NOT GO THERE! read more

Needed inspection. Had an emissions code. After they performed mechanical inspection, they were unable to resolve emission inspection. After several attempts to get computer to reset/drive cycle, as per united instructions I gave up! The other issue, they said the had to do front end work on my vehicle. not inspection related, i okayed the work and paid them! He said I would be able to tell how the car would ride...Get this!...the thieves , crooks or whatever you'd call'em over-inflated the pressure of my tires...look that's serious, why? I paid them! If I went back I'd get in over my head, so I just left it. Vengeance is mine saith the Lord, neither does He like crooked scales....So, IF you do continue to patronize these people, PLEASE HAVE THEM SHOW YOU WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE AND RETURN TO YOU THE YOUR OLD/BAD PART(S). I have always found the service provided by United Auto Repair to be fast, friendly, and very reasonably priced. I have been taking my car there for years now, and this has invariably the case. They carefully explain what is wrong and why it necessitates repair. I have found their prices to be comparable to or lower than other garages - and they tend to make repairs faster, too.
