I love the people and I have been going for a few years. The one thing that stopped me from going was the fluctuating braid prices. I don't get complicated hair styles and when I pay $100+ for cornrows "Houston" we have a problem. I have recommend and referred several people to them and my friends get crochet braids which are more time consuming than my braids and pay $150. They tried to charge me $130 for nine braids. I love the people who work there but I'm not going back. read more

Had a 9:30am appointment they were late as usual. Once inside there was an extremely strong smell (similar to a bad mens cologne). I commented that there was a very strong smell and it didn't smell well. As the braider begin my hair the receptionist came over and handed me her phone. The owner was on the phone and was upset that I made a comment about the smell. She attempted to talk to me like a child. I hung up on her. She called back and told her braided to not do my hair. After that disrespectful call I had no plans on staying. I called another shop and Im sitting get my hair done as I'm writing this review. They have lost my business as well as my daughters. This place is racist. I am Hispanic and have had my hair braided SEVERAL times. Before I left they made comments like: "It looks bad because my texture isn't like theirs." & "If I want blonde hair I should dye it" I feel like they thought because of my race that I was ignorant to how they should be done and look. I REPEATEDLY asked for 5 THICK cornrows straight back using blonde braiding hair. I naturally have thick hair so when my real hair ended I needed the weave hair to match the fullness then transition to thin as the braid ended. Instead it goes from thick to immediate ramen thin. There was no gel used so my hair looks like I've been sleeping in them for a week. Then she carelessly snipped at my real hair while she was cutting the fly always. I voiced ALL of these problems as she was braiding, before during and after. Stick to selling the hair cause clearly if you can't see the problem with my hair you can't braid. -to top it off after I left I realized that I forgot my cut and walked into them all talking about me. read more

I experienced my first time going here yesterday to get my hair done, I absolutely love my hair! I showed a picture of what I wanted and from experience with other places you never know if it's going to be exactly like what you want, but you take that risk anyway. The girl that did my hair took her time with every braid and detail. The customer service was pleasant as well. 1.) This place is still there. 2.) I've been there twice to get my hair braided. Once for Senegalese twists and most recently for micro braids. Both times I had two braiders on my head at all times and I was out in 4-5 hours. Both styles were neat and even and the stylists were responsive to my requests (less pressure, twist/braid size, etc.). The prices were good and you can also buy a variety of skin and hair care products there (in addition to hair for braiding and weaving). It's black woman owned as well, so support your sisters. And there are Sunday hours, which is great if you work a lot. I would recommend this place to anyone... read more

I visited Sierra-Hair Beauty Supply/African Hair braiding salon on 4/24/19 and I must say, the four braids the young lady did are just beautiful. The young lady can braid. My reason for the one star is for the up-charge after having been quoted $40 (sent her a picture) and for which I drove 25 minutes, expecting to pay that price and arranging my schedule to fit in the service. I only wanted four feed ins. Once I arrived, the price previously quoted was doubled. I should have walked then but told her there was no way I was going to pay that. We settled on $60 cash. Then she told me the hair that I brought with me really wouldn't work for the four corn-rows but she had hair that would work. Another $13. Now don't get me wrong, I could have left but knowing the likelihood of getting my hair done that day for an upcoming function at work, well... I decided to just pay for the lesson. I feel some kind of way because I would like to have a braiding salon or hair stylist on whom I can depend without feeling mislead, taken advantage of or at worse, scammed. Sierra has/had wonderful reviews and they can braid, however, the professional integrity that should be demonstrated is just not there. That's why I gave her one star. If you are looking for excellent technique or a slamming style, you'll get that at Sierra, but make sure you get the numbers right before you make the trip. I certainly won't again. read more

I went in last Friday for braids hair was nothing like I asked. So I called owner immediately and sent her pics of my hair. She wanted to do over next day so I had to take hair down and go back. I had to buy more hair! She braided my hair too tight. Next morning braid in front of my head came out and took a plug of my hair with it! I took my hair down immediately! I again sent her pics and told her it was only fair to issue refund. She agreed! Next morning got a text from her saying I was trying to destroy her business because of the bad review I left. The only thing that was destroyed was my hair, money, and time! I will be filing a small claim against her! If you care about your hair stay away! read more

The braiders were very nice but the owner was rude and sold me hair that was supposed to be wet and wavy but turned out to be straight and it wasn't cheap! I didn't find this out until the 6 hours of braiding were done and they had to braid the hair and dip it in water. When I asked for the owner to fix it or at least give me some of my money back she started cursing me out. Her solution was for me to sit and let them take the hair down and then she would refund me all of my money. If you get braids then you know my head was on fire so why would I inflict more pain. in the last week got hair braided 1 week ago in medium size micros with hair they are claiming "100% human"....false advertising!!!! the ladies need more training on how to braid. braids are not supposed to be so stiff they are molded in 1 direction. lets just say i got home and attempted to apply heat to try to make the braids lay down and the hair melted! human hair..not!!! i'm so disgusted that i wasted $180 that i could have kept in my pocket. so irritated with them i didn't even want to waste time showing back up to have them take this crap out my head. please save your time and money by going somewhere else. beware the same people own the shop in ahwahtukee also! disgusted x customer read more

My roommate went for 5 braids straight back with blonde braiding hair added. The "stylist" couldn't properly blend it into her real hair and my friend explained she was unhappy with it! And the woman had only done one braid! The "stylist" had the nerve to say "if you want blonde hair, dye it" waaaaaait, WHAT?!!!?!? Calling their "customer service" poor is an understatement! They were down right rude, disrespectful, and prejudice. My friend is Hispanic and they kept telling her because of her hair type her hair wasn't going to look like theirs!!!! I hate to write negative reviews but I was super frustrated with my experience here. My appointment was scheduled for 9:30a and the braider even texted me the night before to remind me. However, the day of my appointment she was 45 minutes late. In addition to this I showed her the picture of the crochet braids that I wanted and she didn't even do anything matching the picture. Then she proceeds to rush through the process and didn't even attempt to mimic what I had shown her. I am beyond frustrated and took my braids out that very day cause they looked terrible. Unprofessional mixed with the frustrating part of not even achieving the look I asked for made my experience terrible. I would rather give it 0 out of 5 honestly. The owner miss Aida has been in this hair business for over 20 years. She had so much skills and expertise in hair braiding and weaves. For 12 years I have known her and let her work on my hair she has been the best all round. Everyone on setting eyes on my hair compliment me unendingly. Aida has done marvellous on my hair. Today am so proud of my 34 inch Indian hair that lasts me for over 3 months and i now look like a goddess. I scheduled an appointment for my mother and the experience was HORRABLE!!!!! Where should I begin.. 1st the person that was supposed to do my mother's hair showed up hell of late! There was a girl that started my mom's hair that wasn't even supposed to do her hair due to the chick that was supposed to do hadn't showed up but she did a good job but as the day went on it got much worst! The 2nd the chick that was originally supposed to do it showed up and started at the front of her head (which is odd) then all of a sudden the chick had to leave because her kid got sick (yea right) so my mother sat there for a hour and a half waiting for the next person to come and finish her hair (unprofessional). When the other chick showed up and started on her hair she was so slow! Then she had another chick help her then the one that was helping stopped so one chick is now doing her hair which she was also slow but OH! When it came time to pay the hoe! She was rushing my mother to pay her in which she did not even help until the very end. In all the experience was terrible and I would not recommend anyone go there to get their hair braided they are extremely unprofessional and high in cost, they told my mom that it would be 150.00 but she ended up paying 180.00! WTF!!! Super upset with them for having my mom wait and overcharging her.
