After working for the same company for 13 years, I was in search of new security related work. But no longer with a company, I realized I needed to renew my certifications. I originally was only in search of first aid & CPR training. I found ESSC via an online search and through Eventbrite. Not only did they offer first aid and CPR but an array of other useful security related certifications that included baton, firearms, handcuffing, pepper spray and much more. As a military veteran I was eligible for funding that covered the cost of the 3 week course. Although I was very familiar with most of what was covered, I learned a lot of real world tactics from the training staff that one can only acquire through years of experience. From he owner, Mr. Rasheed to the lead instructor, Mr. Morrow and to all the office staff that worked behind the scenes to get our certifications processed...thank you very much. I highly recommend ESSC for entry level security officers to seasoned security professionals. You're not just going to walk away with a guard card, you'll walk away with new knowledge to apply to the security industry. Also, ESSC is extremely military friendly and will line veterans up with services to assist them. One last bit, if you're a graduate of ESSC, you're always welcome back for refreshers courses free of charge. They will also notify you as you get closer to your BSIS certification renewal dates. Lastly, recruiters are always dropping in to hire candidates for jobs. If you're in the market to learn about the security industry or need a refresher like myself, you can't go wrong with ESSC.

He asked what I wanted, as I'm holding targets and my gun bag. I asked if a lane is available. He checks my gun and ammo and has he puts it back he doesn't put my gun back in to the sleeve instead he points it at me as he's putting it back into my bag. I zeroed my gun and then started to do a controlled pairs. I get a tap on my shoulder from a young kid and was told 1 shot per second. Mind you there's people doing double taps. I said I thought you can do controlled pairs. He said in those lanes you can, which were a few down from me. At this point I literally felt they were bias towards me and it takes A LOT for me to say that considering my occupation. You think he would have offered me to move to those lanes, but he doesn't and he continues to stare at me as if he's scolding me in front of other people. I truly don't get the whole attitude at indoor ranges. I will NEVER return to this range and will not recommend it to any of my co-workers or friends. You will not feel welcomed here if you're not a white guy or Asian shooting at this range. After 15 mins I just left. Response to owners statement: I wasn't looking for your validation. Mentioning your rank in your past career is irrelevant in this situation. Just stated my experience at your place of business. You should know officers don't raise a stink or complain at a place they're not welcomed or treated differently. They just leave and don't return. This is a "review" on yelp on MY last experience at your range. .

I recently completed the Pistol 101 course at Burro Canyon with Tom from L.A. Progressive Shooters,…read moreand it was a transformative experience. To be completely honest, I started this class with a significant amount of fear regarding firearms. However, the patient, safe, and professional manner in which we were taught immediately put my mind at ease. Tom does an incredible job of prioritizing safety above all else, ensuring that every step is understood before moving forward. His teaching partner Val added such a wonderful, welcoming touch to the class. Her presence and guidance made the experience feel even more approachable and inclusive. Because of their combined efforts, I walked away with so much more confidence than I ever thought possible. If you have been hesitant or nervous about taking that first step, I cannot recommend this course enough--you will be in great hands.

When I joined this program a couple years ago I had just finished doing a Breathwork certification…read moreteacher training and wanted to do something that I thought was exactly the opposite of what I just learned. I pick a new trade or skill annually and learn it. This time I chose United Defense Tactical. I was never really into guns or shooting or MMA or anything like that. I'm more into film and music and what not. But after joining and finding myself thinking of perfecting my grip, stance etc, and noticing i was getting quicker, more accurate, and finding myself thinking differently about regular and routine situations, even walking into a room or where I sit at a restaurant, I found that I felt like I had greater and broader awareness of my surroundings, other people, and myself. When I first started I didn't own a firearm and originally hadn't planned to which was cool that it wasn't necessary. So don't let that hold you back from starting this. You will know when the time is right. Ive been really busy so unfortunately haven't been able to go as much as I'd like to but when I do, I get so much out of that hour I'm there. It's a great way to separate yourself from all other areas of life because it requires your entire focus, in detail. Perfect way to start or end your day. All the instructors I've had have been great. They each have their own take on it so it's beneficial to get different classes in with various instructors. Vince makes it fun and helped make the details enjoyable while showing where I needed to improve and focus more. John i originally thought was kind of tough and focused a ton on fundamentals which I'm happy he does. I find that I get a lot out of his classes bc the tone is serious and the attention to surroundings and detail is heavily focused on. Lance is good with connecting to his students and creating exercises that make you think, and can seem like a lot at first but then you surprise yourself with how good you do. Tony is good at pin pointing your weak spots and helping you get better at it. Vince does a great job of this too. Joshua is great too but I haven't taken many classes with him. I remember him slightly adjusting my draw and it helped immensely. These guys are all pros and great to learn from. If you go in with a mindset of being broken down in order to be built back up stronger then you will get so much out of this course. There's a couple other guys that I took classes from that I don't think are there anymore. Again, I haven't been in for a while, but if you're serious about getting more knowledgeable in de escalation, self defense, educated on guns and thinking in a way that makes utilizing your gun education as a last resort, and you want to become more confident in potential real life situations (that do/can happen), then this is your place. The majority of people have no training like this. It's beneficial to learn. To say the least. All these guys would be cool to use in a short action film as well. If they were interested Thanks UDT! See you soon.

SCAM ALERT: Do not give them your card!…read more Update: so funny look at their reply - trying so hard to explain their policy, but ignoring what I was offered is a paid trial and they keep charging me even if I canceled. it is a FRAUD, Check their BBB, it is a F score. I was promised a $179 per month "flexible" trial, this is specifically given that I can cancel before the trail ends and not bind to their one year membership but it was a total lie. Classes are impossible to book and the schedule is a joke. The worst part? I officially cancelled on Feb 11 and got a written confirmation saying "no further payments will occur." Today, they ILLEGALLY charged my card $200 anyway! This is straight-up fraud. They lure you in with "flexibility" and then rob you even after you quit. Save your money and stay away. I'm reporting this to the police and filing a chargeback immediately.
