This Walmart was suspiciously clean and almost too organized, like someone summoned it straight out of a suburban dream. Jaime in electronics was very nice and helpful and the night crew shuffled around w pallets like retail workhorses waiting for dawn. The real win here.... (shhh... its a secret) No 10-cent plastic bag tax (like in Cali)!! Sweet, sweet Midwestern freedom!!! THAT ALONE made us so excited!! Another plus was how empty the store was during business hours... not very much traffic, which was nice!! The parking lot, though... eerily empty!!!!!!!!! The kind of quiet that makes you wonder if the town's residents only come out after sunset. A perfect stop for restocking your mortal supplies before the vampires wake.

Service people are always stacking product. They are always stocked with your favorite items Well except during Covid:( Customer service is on point and I make it a priority to know cashiers by name. I guess this is a reasonable thing to happen and go unnoticed but my issue is that when I informed an employee, all she did was replace the tongs with a new clean one. She was about to walk away but I stopped her and told her that the entire thing of corn needs to be thrown out and replaced, fortunately she listened to me and took the entire container of corn out and brought it to the back to (I assume) be replaced with a new one but just the fact that their employees are not trained on what to do if the Hot Bar food gets contaminated like this is a major red flag. I know a lot of people do not wash their hands before touching the tongs and scoopers at the hot bar. For example, I saw someone who does construction and he had dried concrete all over his hands walking around the store as if that was normal. Also I was looking at the containers of pasta from the deli area and some of them had way too much oil put in them. They are priced by weight, not only does this make them cost more as you are paying for that oil that you cannot eat, it also makes the pasta much more unhealthy as it is not recommended to eat that oil. Also I am concerned about how often they change out the food from the hot bar because one time about a year ago, I got food here and the rice was rock hard and the potatoes were extremely stale. I went up to the service desk to speak to somebody about this issue but nobody was there. Something I do like about shopping here is that the store is much more modern than the Jewel on the South East side of the property, it looks more inviting and the employees uniforms are much better looking than Jewel's. Also some of the employees are really helpful and have nice personalities, especially the cashier named Jen or Jennifer. My favorite cashier was named Keel but I haven't seen her in over a year. Also Briana was super helpful while bagging my items.

Lewis Fresh Market certainly isn't one of those cramped little stores. Has a lot of produce and other items. The prices aren't the best but they're pretty comparable to other places. Best thing is the produce because it's all fresh. It's comparable to the Cermak Fresh Markets. There's a lot of Mexican and other Latino stuff in here along with some other countries too. Has quite a lot to go through so you can find many good items. There's a grill to order tacos and tortas. Also there's a hot bar and salad bar. Other popular areas include the bakery where they cut fresh loaves. Has even more produce outside, especially when they have pumpkins in autumn. The prices are okay for being fresh. For sure we could go here again if in the area. It's got a couple locations, including this one on Grand. The produce is considered to be the best stuff.

This is my "go to" store for everything. It is (I believe) part of Piggly Wiggly? They have a huge…read morefresh produce department with extremely affordable prices. It is definitely a "local" store. The deli has by far the cheapest prices on meats and cheeses anywhere. They always also had you a sample which I love. Also before they start just slicing away they ASK how you would like your meat / cheese sliced and then show you to make sure it is how you want it. They also have a HUGE meat department with some pre-made, pre-marinated items that are always good. The meat department carries beef from the US and Mexico (clearly labeled). The meat from Mexico is cheaper, but I've had good luck with it. Also you can find things there that you will never see anywhere else. (Like natural casings for making your own sausages) ((yes I do that)) They also have a fairly large gluten free section. The people who work there are ALWAYS friendly. They are all locals. Many kids. I like that the management doesn't make them cover up their tattoos and piercings (many other stores I have seen this). I think this makes them more comfortable with the customers. They are all great and if lines are running long are fast to open a new line (correctly by taking people in the order they were in) which you see almost nowhere. I really do love my local grocer. On a side note- you will often see the manager stocking shelves along side of his employees. This goes a long way in my book.

I've saved about $400 per month in the last 2 months.
