This is actually one of my favorite neighborhood Liquor Store/Deli spots in SF. It is definitely my go to when I'm down in The Marina. The store is large and feels airy with windows on two sides. It is definitely nice but doesn't fell snobby or too upscale. I would say most of my stops have just been to grab a Diet Coke while walking down to The Bay or The Presidio. I have grabbed beer here a few times while heading to the Beach. The prices don't seem out of line. Indecently, they keep Ping Pong Balls in stock, which is apropos in The Marina. It looks like they have a decent deli with Sandwiches and a lot of different items in the Deli Case. I haven't tried them yet - I'll update this if I do. This liquor/convenience store still gets the job done if you're in the Marina and need booze, house party treats (chips, cookies, coffee, etc.) and late night munchies. I still can't speak for their deli. I'm personally resistant to liquor stores who also promote themselves as a deli. I'm more partial to delis that just happen to sell wine/beer. And when it comes to booze, these guys offer great deals on vodkas, gins, and other spirits. You can get a bottle of Stoli Vodka for $12 and/or a bottle of Amsterdam Vodka for $10. That's pretty damn good boozy bang for your buck. The service here is still lackluster. I came in here recently for a quick purchase and the lady at the counter couldn't have been more unfriendly/indifferent. The store is currently under construction (so lots and lots of loud drilling/hammering). They had a sign behind the counter that said "Cash Only," so I figured that they might be undergoing technical issues. So just to confirm, I asked if I had to pay for my booze with cash, or if they might accept debit/credit card. The cashier just gave me a foul look and said "Yeah, we accept cards. Why?" I pointed to the confusing sign behind her, and she just shrugged and processed my payment. She handed me my receipt, didn't say thank you... and our relationship was over. But like I said in my previous review... who really cares? I ain't coming here to look for a new best friend. I'm just looking to get in and out quickly with affordable drinks and grub. read more

This place is the worst. I do not write reviews, but this place deserves one. The staff is extremely rude, arrogant, and just flat-out not friendly. The entire reason that corner stores/bodegas exist is for convenience. As a consumer, you understand that they are going to take advantage of you because they can, at a minimum you expect the employees and ownership to smile and treat you with respect. Every single employee here is miserable. This place robs you and treats you like shit. Not to mention the selection of liquor, drinks, and food is lackluster to stay the least. I've been shopping at this neighborhood liquor store for many years. They have an ok selection. Service has always been lukewarm to slightly chilly, but I've tolerated it. Not anymore. Today, the older guy at the counter (possibly the owner?) was so rude, I couldn't believe it. I was purchasing 2 bottles of champagne; a $40 purchase. First, I politely asked if I could please get 2 bags so the bottles would be protected when I carried them. He glared and asked, "You want TWO BAGS?" Yes, I told him, with handles, please. He said "We don't have any handle bags". I said, ok, fine. He kept angrily asking me how many bags I wanted. Finally, I said, "Ok, just give me one bag." I didn't want to discuss it any longer. Next, Mr. Nasty rang me up and I started to insert my credit card in the machine. He snapped, "The machine will TELL YOU when it's time to insert your card!". I said, "Ok, I'm sorry." He continued to glare. I was marking the charge down in my checkbook and looking for a pen. Mr. Nasty handed me a pen from behind the counter. I thanked him. As we were completing the transaction, he said, "I need the pen back." I said, "Of course, here you go" and dropped the pen on the counter (my hands were still busy fumbling with putting my credit card away). He yelled at me, "You don't have to THROW THE PEN at me! You could HAND IT to me!". I shook my head in disbelief and walked out. Honest to God, what the hell is wrong with this guy? Seems like he is just ANGRY. If he hates his job and hates dealing with customers that much, he should leave. Based on other reviews, it sounds like I'm not the only one who has had this experience. Looks like I am not the only one who thinks the workers should be taught a lesson in manners. The African American individual (note the omission of the word gentleman or even of man because gentlemen and real men don't act like this) could not have been more rude to a clearly very senior woman who came in Monday early evening. Yeah, she was slow, but she is also very old. I asked her her age actually. 90 years old! This joker was snippy, snide and obviously put out by having to help her. Hey Cupcake! She didn't hear your snide remarks. She is hard of hearing, or else she would have had an easier time hearing you! Duh! So you just made yourself come off as a bullying muttering fool. You proud? I have lived in the Marina for nearly 50 years and have finally reached my limit. I won't be coming back in this store anymore. Not that they care because, given the attitude, they obviously don't need/want patronage. A little advice to this joker and the rest- If you hate your job, get a new one. Don't inflict your ugly on other people. It's nice to be important, yes I know you are oh so important so hence your attitude (insert eye roll) but it's more important to be nice. Remember, if you are lucky to reach this woman's age, you will want to be treated with kindness and respect. Do you have an elderly family member? Been going here for a decade and never had a bad experience until today. The owner was working and was extremely rude. Yelled at me for grabbing bottle of alcohol and bringing it to the counter bc I missed a sign that's hard to read. Be kinder to your customers, especially for simple mistakes. The people here are incredibly rude. When you ask a question they give you attitude back and talk to you like you're stupid. I was yelled at when I asked if they crush dry ice and then hung up on mid sentence. The store itself may be good, but the customer service is 0. Bad experience here. An intoxicated man covered in feces and not wearing a proper face mask was belligerently harassing other customers, and the clerk could give two craps. In fact, the clerk was absconding the other customers for not approaching the counter... However they weren't approaching the counter because there was a belligerent, intoxicated man with feces on him standing at the counter, blocking it. See what's happening here? Marina Market is on the next block over and their selection is the same if not better. And for sure the shopping experience is better. And their staff gives a crap. What's the point of working somewhere where you hate all your customers? Very hostile attitude from the workers that doesn't really work as a Seinfeld-esque gimmick - they don't smile once when engaging with anyone. Will close the store for a smoke break, which is rare for SF. Guess they don't need the business. Just had the worst customer service experience of my life here. I walked in looking to simply buy a pack of gum and ended up getting yelled at by the cashier (don't know if he is the owner or not) for having the audacity to try and pay with a $20 bill. When I tried to hand him the money he looked at me and said "Is that the smallest thing you have, you just need change huh? Do you not believe in banks?!". When I told him that was the smallest cash I had he angrily took my money and opened the register. Will never be shopping here again, if I had not been so taken a back by his response i would have just walked out and given my business to one of the many other stores in the area. read more

These guys have been here for a long time. I have never had a bad experience. Whenever I have a question, they answer comprehensively. For me, I always needs bags of nice for a bartending business I run and the staff always helps me load the ice into coolers and then my Jeep. Hard to find good service in this neighborhood but at United, they never disappoint. read more

This is a great local liquor store. The guys are cool and it's super convenient to get in and out of. I can always double park quickly when popping in for my 22oz sleeping pill on the way home. Kegs are pricey but convenient. I think I'll steer clear of the food. read more

I was in there today and bought an ice cream bar and didn't realize that it was melted until after I paid and opened it. I showed the cashier and he wouldn't exchange or give a refund. I let him know how absurd that was and he said he couldn't do anything because he didn't own the place. I've been coming here for many years. There are many great wines here for under $10. They could charge more, but they are truly a neighborhood liquor store that everyone in the marina and cow hollow loves, and they keep their prices reasonable. I really dig this place, for a lot of reasons: convenience, selection and, overall, a courteous array of clerks However, I do have a real issue with one of those clerks, and I know I'm not alone and he clearly knows who he is. Twice now I've made a purchase of under five dollars and had to pay each time with a twenty-dollar-bill, which is all I had each time. This particular clerk rolled his eyes, asked rather snarkily if I had anything smaller, then pretty much threw my change on the counter without another word. The other day I witnessed a tourist buying a sandwich who himself only had twenties and and got the same crappy treatment -- rolling eyes, thrown change, no thanks or any other acknowledgment. I know this is small stuff, relative to what this store offers, but c'mon, if this clerk doesn't understand that customers -- the people that make his job possible! -- won't always have the denomination he personally prefers, he ought to find another line of work. I hope the store owners read this and shake this guy around a little, because they're going to lose business to nearby stores, if they haven't already. (I know I'll think twice about shopping there if I see that guy's working.) And if he's in fact the owner or one of them, here's a personal note: I hope you take this as a much-needed wake-up to how customers react to you. read more
