Is ranch sauce on pizza debate similar to putting pineapple on pizza? Who gets a pass?

Shopping for drinks and food for the holidays is a task and for some it's a trade. I enjoy going to Trader Joe's but there is another Trader in San Francisco where you can go grocery shopping. I am not trading in one for another. I didn't become a trader (traitor) and turned into a Dallas Cowboys fan , Arizona Diamondbacks fan and especially never a LA Dodgers fan. I know it's 4th of July is this Friday and I am not a Benedict Arnold trader ( Traitor). I am more like the Paul Revere of San Francisco sending a message to guide and liberate the digital universe where to shop and drink and eat food and sometimes on a midnight ride. The Epicurean Trader has five locations in San Francisco including one in the Ferry Building. The Union street location is a welcoming place to shop with lots of drinks and food available. First of all this place has everything like the Boichik Bagel called the "everything ". Epicurean Trader has lots of great holiday drinks like top shelf whiskeys and lots different types of foods for any holiday including the American Shrimp it's okay if you want shrimp on the Barbie for the 4th of July. I am big believer of fair trade even if it comes with some tariffs for the 4th of July. The price to pay for the freedom of choice when living the supermarket life in the USA. My name isn't Joe or Jose and my first name sure isn't Trader but I will go to Union street Epicurean Trader for the Boichik bagels on everything and there is none in SF that is greater I was born in San Francisco so I am what's known as an unicorn also known as a Golden Gater make sure to enjoy the fireworks at the beach or a park on the 4th of July over the big beautiful skies of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz where there is no alligator

    Grilled Cheese

Came here for breakfast sandwiches. Got the truffled grilled cheese and everything bagel with vegan cream cheese (added capers, onions and arugula). The grilled cheese was the standout! Flavors and texture were on point. The truffle was there but not over powering. Bread crunch hit the right frequency. The bagel was a let down. Not sure exactly why it fell so flat but it just wasn't there. The cream cheese probably if I had to put my finger on it. They don't automatically cut the bagel in half like they do sandwiches so def ask ahead of time for that. Grilled cheese was a 5. Bagel was a 3. Averaged to 4. Staff was friendly and store was very cute!

Cute little store that sells alcohol, charcuterie, has a bakery and cafe to order some stuff to eat and drink. There's some indoor dining tables and I believe wifi for those that want to work and people watch and there are tables right up front to enjoy our market purchases or to grab a bite to eat. They also have a bathroom inside too! They have a wide range of alcohols you can buy from the bottle, and also fresh flowers! Cute little shop in the Marina district. It can get busy and be hard to find street parking, especially on the weekends. The workers were super kind and friendly, service was great!

This place has so much charm to it and the service is always great, it feels very European. But I'd say the food/drink themselves are pretty average. I tried their blue matcha and wasn't impressed, their breakfast sandwich was good but nothing to brag about. Would return for the vibes.

Lots of Bourbon and Whiskey and Ryes and Japanese selections
    Robert R.

I had been in the area and needed to pick up a new Bottle of Whiskey/ Bourbon. I had recently been going through and wanted something new on the shelf. My friend had suggested Rowans Creek small batch and that had that particular brand in stock. Their selection is very diverse as far as Spirits go and they had every type of Bourbon you can ask for. Rye; to Japanese, and American well known brands as well. They have all types of Spirits and mixers and garnishes. I wound up getting a couple of Bernal Bakery cookies which were absolutely Amazing. Chocolate Peanut cookies were soft and had sea salt specks sprinkled in. The gentleman at the counter was super nice and helpful. The selection is very diverse in whatever type of Spirits you're looking for and also a one stop shop for the garnishes or snacks to go with your libations.

Cute but overpriced. Spent over $17 for a mediocre bagel with scallion cream cheese that tasted suspiciously like regular cream cheese.

Actually, I hardly ever go to Safeway anymore. Shelves are always well stocked, store is very clean, and just a pleasant place to shop at. I've never tried the food at the self-serve buffet, but it usually looks pretty fresh. I like that it's never too crowded here, so you can maneuver your way around the aisles easily.

In one incident over a year ago, another customer verbally harassed me and threatened physical harm while I was shopping. Her child was left unattended and was knocking items over, which I reported to security. The guard failed to do his job and did not intervene appropriately. When a supervisor arrived, the situation was handled much more professionally. I should feel safe shopping in my local market. That guard no longer works there, but the experience was upsetting and difficult to move past. Unfortunately, in January 2026, I encountered similar issues with a new security guard. He has repeatedly followed me around the store without cause. Most recently, he approached me unnecessarily, stood uncomfortably close, and spoke to me in an intrusive manner while I was selecting items. His behavior showed poor training and a lack of respect for personal boundaries. These repeated experiences with security staff are negatively affecting the atmosphere at Woodlands. I am a respectful, regular customer and do not want to feel uncomfortable or monitored without cause when shopping. Proper security training and professionalism are essential for customer safety and trust.

We were in San Francisco for about a week, and having a Trader Joe's so close was a total lifesaver. We could easily stop in and grab breakfast foods, snacks, and, of course, our favorite peanut butter cups. It saved us from having to spend a ton of money eating out for breakfast every morning, and we were able to stock up on snacks that lasted us for the entire trip. This Trader Joe's was definitely a different experience than the one we're used to back home in the St. Louis suburbs. Since it was right in the city, you actually had to take an escalator down to get into the store, which was kind of fun and unexpected. I also felt like there was surprisingly more room in the aisles than I expected for a city location. The checkout line was a completely different story! It wrapped around the store, which honestly gave me a little anxiety because I felt like I needed to hurry and get everything because the line looked like it was going to take forever. But they had a ton of checkers working, and the line actually moved incredibly fast. Before I knew it, we were checked out and on our way. It was just really nice to be somewhere familiar while experiencing a totally different version of Trader Joe's in another city. Having one so close to our hotel made our trip easier, more affordable, and a little more fun. And yes, we absolutely stocked up on those peanut butter cups!
