The instructors at Matsunami are direct students of Lyoto and Chinzo Machida, who themselves are Shotokan teachers and pro MMA fighters. At Matsunami karate you can expect to get the best of both worlds in martial arts training with Machida Karate. The Machida Karate program is a fun and challenging karate class that also teaches MMA style drilling, conditioning and some ground fighting. The atmosphere is relaxed but focused and the classes are challenging. I've been training it for 3 years now and can't recommend it enough. Try a class.

While maintaining a focus on physical activity and skill in taekwondo, the focus on values including respect, responsibility, and perseverance go far beyond just what is written on their walls. The staff work with the parents and families as a team to reinforce positive behavior and good character not just within their facility, but also at school and at home. There is a constant narrative of commitment to self improvement and to invest into helping to better our surrounding community as well. One of our children has had some trying behavior and over the past two years the staff has poured their effort into support and structure to help us guide him the right way. This is the type of community and environment all families want their children raised in. We genuinely send thanks to Grandmaster Kim and his team for all they do.

The team here works with you from an all-around wellness approach. Two weeks after signing up, I ended up getting sick and felt derailed. But the kindness and care package that arrived in my mailbox from the team here was encouraging and immediately set the tone for the relationship I have with this gym. In the three months of working with Evan at L&L, I have made more progress than in all of the months no wait, years, of training elsewhere. Why? Well I think it comes down to the personalized, total-wellness approach. I like that you have an app that keeps you connected to your trainer and links with MyFitnessPal. This added layer of accountability has been great for me. I've logged into MFP for 100 straight days - more than ever before. And it is an encouragement when Katie sends you a message for sticking with tracking food. Speaking of which, I appreciate the approach of focusing on macros instead of just calories. This has helped me tremendously as I've been working on strength. I have started looking at food more as fuel for the body. Don't get me wrong, I still like to eat... but at least now I have a greater awareness of what is going to work for me. I have a customized program that is tailored to me. For as much as we work on getting stronger, there is significant time spent on pre-habbing and focusing on recovery. It's amazing what rest, lacrosse balls and foam rolling can do to improve movement. I haven't lost a whole lot of weight yet, but that goal has been set on the back burner as I realize how weight alone is not a great measure of wellness. There are multiple other measure of improvement, and I'm seeing those. You'll get out of it what you put in, but it seems easier to put in the effort when you have a supportive group of well-educated people rooting for you. I highly recommend at least checking Lion & Luxe out. They offer yoga and massage in addition to personal training. The atmosphere is relaxed and familiar, and VERY supportive. Facility is clean and clearly labeled as to locations of gym, fitness rooms, lockers, restrooms. Staff has always been friendly, working hard and appear to enjoy their jobs. I have tried several group fitness classes, most are included in the membership and schedules are readily available at front entrance and on their web-site. For the most part I use the fitness center which has a wide variety of equipment with on-screen apps to watch Netflix and Hulu (with your own log-ins) on some machines as well as live TV and music options to help pass the time. Some of the equipment works with the Preva app to keep track of your weekly goals, which I enjoy. I chose this fitness location as an average woman who is somewhat new to fitness and wasn't looking to be watched, obviously judged or feel out of place. I can honestly say that I feel comfortable here, I would dare to say even happy to be working toward a healthier me here. There is a diverse mix of people that come and I enjoy the friendly overall atmosphere. There are so many membership perks that I haven't taken advantage of such as 2 large pools with aqua classes, open swimming and laps, cycling classes, day care options. JCC has an app available, but it is hit and miss and freezes often, so I would hold off on that until it's improved. Overall I find the JCC an Excellent overall facility.

During our time at the daycare, I felt that both my son and I were treated differently, and not in a positive way. At the time, my son was not yet fully adopted, and I couldn't help but feel that this may have influenced how we were perceived and treated. As a parent, that was incredibly disheartening. The transition to Jennifer Mehlenleacher & Christine Belykh was also a major factor in our experience. There seemed to be a noticeable decline in overall organization and communication, along with significant staff turnover and ongoing staffing shortages. This created an environment that felt unstable and, at times, concerning. I personally witnessed Jennifer numerous times talked down to her staff humiliating them in front of guests. Which was not uncomfortable for the guests, but it was extremely humiliating for her staff. I chose to wait before writing this review so I could reflect and compare our experience with another daycare. Having now seen what a supportive, well-run environment looks like, I can confidently say that this experience did not meet reasonable expectations. I truly hoped for a much more positive experience, and it's unfortunate that it didn't turn out that way.
