I go to other gyms from time to time and the gap that this gym has given me is almost unbelievable because of the instruction that I receive. Been training here for 5+ years after leaving a smaller gym and it made my game jump ten fold in terms of success. The community at the gym is wholesome and respectful to everyone's needs on the mat, whether you're dealing with an injury or just don't feel like rolling that day. The coaches are top tier and champions. You will learn something new at any/every class and be able to put the drills into practice after a short while of being there. Many higher belts from out of state drop in to roll so it's cool to meet new training partners throughout the months and years, keeping the rolls fresh. I started BJJ around May of 2021 and found Synthesis around February of 2022. I travel a bit personally and for work. This is the best gym I've been to. There are so many classes to choose from so you can train around the rest of your life, you aren't forced to train specifically at 5 pm because that is the only time available. I aim for 3-5 times a week and you meet incredible people and make some friends along the way. There is something for everyone in an inclusive training room filled with a depth of skill! Do you want Gi or No-Gi? We have World Medalists in both. Do you want MMA? We have fighters on the local scene and a couple pros working their way up. Are you casual and want to learn a new skill, some self defense, maybe lose some weight? We have members down 50+ lbs. Do you want to be competitive? I have trained BJJ for approximately 4 years. In that time, I've trained at 3 local gyms (UMAC, Nova, and Synthesis). I chose to call Synthesis my full-time gym; as the instructors are skilled, there are a variety of classes (wrestling, MMA, and BJJ). Synthesis is a very clean facility, has showers, clean restrooms, and a ton of mat space. Regarding the vibe in general, the students that I have met there have been friendly and welcoming. The owner does not tolerate bullying or hassament of any kind, so if you are new, you don't have to worry about feeling like an outsider or being treated like a practice dummy. I joined synthesis back in December of 21. I have trained at a couple of gyms before and none come close to the level of instruction and competition of synthesis. I moved about an hour and a half away back in August of 23, and I still make the drive out there around 2-3 times a week. I have no intention or interest in training anywhere else, and I have become very close with my training partners and teammates. I highly recommend training there no matter what level you are.
