I've been coming for a year and I haven't seen any turnover with staff. Everyone is committed and seems to love what they do. Very easy communication as well. 2. Convenient schedule. They have a ton of classes throughout the day so it's easy to find one to work with your schedule. The new facility has showers, which is an awesome addition. 3. Flexibility. You can freeze your membership for any amount of time, even for a week or two at a time. That is pretty remarkable and cost effective. 4. Challenging. There are members of all fitness levels and there are modifications to ease up or push harder. You will SWEAT, burn calories and build muscle. Because this is a monthly membership instead of a pay-by-class, be prepared to make the commitment. If you only plan on going a couple times per month, this probably isn't the place for you. Every class is different, but all classes include work on the bag as well as endurance and strength training. I highly recommend Burn if you are looking to challenge yourself and commit to bettering your mind & body.

I've learned to recognize great instruction and great instructors. Most recently I've had the pleasure of spending the summer training at Warcloud BJJ in Manlius. The owner, Professor Scott Schultz, is one of the most experienced BJJ black belts I've come across. He's learned from, and competed against, top names in BJJ and MMA. This includes several big names in UFC history. His instruction is top notch. He's an encyclopaedia of techniques. He points out all of the subtle details of each move and the way he 'flows' when demonstrating is so smooth. The academy itself is conveniently located, clean, and well equipped. The people that train there are all 'down to earth', good-natured, family-oriented, 'everyday' people. Several of the adult students also have their kids train in the kids classes. The academy has the perfect atmosphere to cater to both the everyday person looking to casually train or the competitor eager to up their game. On a personal note, I've found Professor Schultz to be an accommodating, understanding, humorous, caring, and all around good guy. He cares about each of his students, even the ones who walked through the door for the first time. If you're looking for a place to train in Fayetteville, Manlius or the neighboring towns, this is it.

I latter asked him if he was getting personal training. He told me he asked the owner if he could help him with his deadlift and instead he took an hour of his time to help him out. Hercules is an old school powerlifting/strong man gym with dumbbells up to 200lbs. It has a ton of 45lbs plates, even 55lbs competition plates, and several 100lbs plates. Along with a ton of machines and equipment. It has a small membership base, so you are not waiting on equipment even on peak hours. Not to mention you can go 24/7. It welcomes all types of lifters. I have been with the gym since before it moved to the current location and that's 5 years or so. If your thinking about it, just DO IT!

As an instructor, Kela really puts you at ease and radiates positive energy. The flows are easy to follow. Also, customizable. She asks me what I want to work on. (I usually opt for hip openers, because my joints pop a lot during our stretches.) Kela even showed up for one of our sessions when she was traveling abroad, which is true dedication because I totally would've understood if she wanted to reschedule. The booking process is pretty easy, and the system is streamlined. I'd definitely recommend checking Blend Theory out! Sometime's Kela does community classes online or around Syracuse, so you can test out her teaching style there. Once you take a class with her, you'll be back! (Bonus-- she likes to put music on and it's always a bop.)

She warmed us up, and getting us moving with twists, stretching, downward dog, warrior poses. Music provided that inspiration to get up, get out, and hustle. Hip Hop Yoga would be a great daily practice. Today, the day after, I feel so much lighter in my body. I'm really happy that I can take Blend Theory Classes online despite being 2,000+ miles away!
