This shop is packed with all the Oriental products you may want. I called ahead to see if they carried a specific ramen noodle I wanted. The man said they have it in stock. So I drove down 30 minutes to get there. The store is huge and loaded with everything. The woman that was working there asked what I needed and took me right to it. I bought a whole case of 30 Kung- Fu Chicken flavored ramen noodles. She gave me a great deal on the case lot. Very friendly people there. I will be back! I always come here when I'm in town. It's an Asian market that has lots of groceries. In the back, you can find authentic Lao dishes. I'm glad that they're here because it gives me the opportunity to pick up some authentic dishes while I'm in town. I've tried various items each time I've come here. A previous time, I tried their papaya salad on medium spice, but I can't eat too spicy so that spice level was a little too high for me. This time I got the non spicy papaya salad lol. Their papaya salad is pretty good. It's made pretty authentic. You can also find sticky rice in the cooler so it's always good to pick up to go if you wanna have some sticky rice. There's also various desserts and appetizers. Plenty to choose from. This time, I got their beef jerky and fried pork belly. It was good. The pork belly had a nice crunch to it and also had a nice flavor. The jerkies also had a nice flavor. Precious times I've gotten their chittlins and it wasn't bad either. I'm not big on chittlins, but my other half is and he loved theirs. They're opened pretty early and we always come about 30 mins to an hour after they open. So lucky to find this gem while we were in the area. It was too easy to spend $$ here. Not a big fancy place but they have allll the basics and some. We dropped by specifically for the deli section in the back of the establishment. The first day we went by we got a little of everything they had ready and stopped by a local park to enjoy our goodies. My husband really enjoyed the different jeows they had. (We dropped by again the next day to stock up before leaving back home) They have sticky rice in a small cooler as well that pairs very well with the jeows and pretty much everything. The fried liver was probably my favorite. It's nostalgic for me. Probably the most disappointing item we got was the papaya salad but that's just because I prefer mine a certain way. Ladies in the back don't speak much but one of the ladies up front was so so nice. She was very interactive with my boys even though they were being shy. It was really sweet. It is an interesting Lao's grocery store. I was hope to get some cook food deli like it show on the store front. Seem like the deli did not operate. We enjoy our shopping there. We pick up few item we have not seen before. We got crispy fish chip. Interesting looking. They do have meat department. You can get all pig intestines, stomach or kidney in this store. The store also have some homemade dessert you can pick up. The veggies section is small but sufficient. A lot of frozen seafood. Overall this market is small. An okay, medium sized Asian market with an emphasis on Southeast Asian foods. I usually do my shopping in Tampa, but I thought I'd try Pinellas Park to see if I could find some hard-to-find Thai ingredients. I was disappointed, but I did have fun exploring this market. If you want to throw a boba tea party, you can buy all sorts of powdered flavorings and popping bobas. There's quite a variety of pre-made Vietnamese and Laotian foods available. I bought a bunch of desserts I rarely see in Florida. However, I didn't find any of the grocery items I wanted to find. It's possible that I missed seeing them, but I did scan the whole store twice. I'll probably stick to my side of the bay for my shopping as I do know where to find most items I use regularly at Oceanic or MD Oriental. But it's nice to know that when I'm in Pinellas County, there's a place to buy things like che banh lot and taro tapioca pudding. read more

A very convenient and large scale specialty grocery store for Southeast Asian food-stuffs. Great assortment of Thai, Vietnames, and Cambodian goods that are often difficult to find. My favorite items to shop for here are the prepared foods, such as: -House made sambal /shrimp paste, hot chili oil, and coconut milk based desserts/custards. -Chinese breads and buns by the register made by Fortune Star Bakery (Tampa, FL) -House made lemongrass sausages and meat patties (which I freeze and thaw for stir-fry dishes), very rare find -On the weekends, prepared fried goods. My favorite being the Curry Empanada and Sesame Ball. The produce is cheap and plentiful. However, make sure to thoroughly inspect everything for fruit flies and rotting bits. Service at the register is extremely slow and causes many customers to get backed up in the front of the store. Seriously, to the point where you cannot even enter the front door or shop. I only visit United if I need the specific house-made items above. Otherwise, I prefer to go to Cho Lon in the Halong Bay plaza. read more

As I walk into the store, the scent of the store took me immediately back to my childhood. In a good way. It is very neat and clean, everything is where you would expect it to be. This place has been open the whole lockdown and very safely, and when MD Oriental closed I was devastated but I'm glad that I was able to try this new store! It's funny at first glance I had no idea there was a deli in the back, but when you go back there it's almost like walking into hogwarts at universal! Suddenly there's a whole separate deli with fresh food and delicious frozen coffee and tea drinks! So many new and interesting foods to try there, but you have to get there early on the weekends or they sell out! I love the fried pompano and today we got fried shrimp, calamari, and rice! My best friend and I live having the crispy pork belly with the fresh spicy papaya salad but they sell out quickly! The curry is really good I love grabbing some to have in the fridge for a quick meal throughout the week, and if you're feeling adventurous you can even try some spicy chicken feet! They gave desserts as well, those are all delicious!! The market also sells some if the best frozen seafood options and reasonable prices! And unlike most grocery stores the employees have worn gloves and masks the entire time, they have plastic dividers, and when they are busy they only let so many ppl in the store to accommodate social distancing, feel much safer here than the usual local grocery store that is always packed! It's definitely a nice place to try delicious snacks, they have fresh veggies and a great mushroom selection (I love the baby oyster mushrooms so cute!) Definitely a great place to try and if you usually go to MD and need a market that's open I highly recommend giving it a visit! My husband and I used to go to this place about once a month before but that ended in December 2011. They have Vietnamese & Chinese food, fresh produce, a little bit of meat and seafood, and also bakery. I personally don't buy Vietnamese or Chinese products. That being said I used to buy some fresh produce, frozen dumpling skins and baked goods. Now this particular one time, we bought two boxes of mochi ice cream. We opened them up at the party and gave them to everyone. It was so disgusting...why? Because the mochi part has been frozen and then thawed and frozen again. So the rice cake lost the nice gooey texture completely. Everyone at the party agreed they were not edible. Next day we went back to the place and told them what happened and asked for a refund. The manager came from the back and she said "I have not eaten rice cake in my life so I really don't know. I will grab another employee and let her taste it." So instead of trying the ones we brought back in, they opened a new one from the freezer and said everything was fine. So the manager lady refused to give us a refund. And I told them that I have eaten the same brand so many times and I am Japanese soI know the rice cake did not taste right. But she said "Our employee says it's fine so it's fine. We are not giving you a refund." We went back and forth a couple times and my husband got really mad and asked her if the place was willing to lose us as customers because of 2 boxes of rice cake ice cream ($9). The manager's answer was yes. The manger lady wanted to prove us wrong so badly that she told me I was wrong even though I am Japanese and I know exactly what I'm talking about and she has never eaten mochi in her life. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. This place is run by a person whose ego is too big to have a sense of customer service and who is hard to deal with even as an individual because she thinks she is always right and she tries to prove you wrong, even if that means opening up a new box of mochi instead of just refunding. There are plenty of other Vietnamese grocery stores nearby. read more

This place is amazing! They have everything you could ever be looking for from all different Asian countries. It's a huge place with so much to look at. There was staff around if you had questions and they seemed friendly. Everything we've tried so far that we bought is delicious. It's clean and the staff wear masks. Not sure if they sanitize carts or not. I can't give it 5 stars because the bathroom was atrociously dirty. And the living conditions of the live crab, lobsters, and tilapia made me very upset; they were literally on top of each other and couldn't move. We'll be back though. read more

United Oriental food is an average Chinese/Vietnamese (primarily) grocer. They're priced in the middle of the road in comparison to what I've seen elsewhere, the store is usually fairly tidy, and while the product selection isn't especially large, they do carry a variety of basics. They have a produce section that meets most of the basic needs for the average person. Meats and fish are a little limited. There is a decent selection of sauces (soy/dark soy, vinegars, dipping sauces, etc.), noodles, snacks, cheap pots/dishes, etc. I've never tried any of the pre-prepared foods, but there's a small selection of those too. Service is average at best, and I've often had cashiers carry conversations in another language with someone else while I'm checking out. The shop itself is a little dated and would benefit from a fresh coat of paint/some renovations. Oh, last but not least - there is a $10 minimum to use a credit card here. That's not a big deal for most people, but definitely make sure you have cash if you're making a small purchase. read more

This store does care about this preeminent either since there's no 6ft rule or limit of people can be in the store because u people touches your elbows as they walk by you because it's so packed with useless merchandises and people. I used to drive from St. Pete to Tampa, to that large "popular" joint for most of my Asian grocery needs. Then I was very glad to discover UNITED, which is much closer to where I live! It's a great place for Asian noodles, sauces, and those oh-soo-addictive, unusual and unique ramen. I'm an admitted ramen snob. I only eat a select few a year and even adapt some into my personal home Asian menu. That said... United does stock that great "Kung Fu" ramen brand, specifically that special ONION flavored one, which is my all-time favorite and can be tough to find. Their selection of Japanese offerings is slim. To be frank, this seems much more like a Vietnamese/Laotian store. That's ok. Considering the area, it is quite understandable. (Go check out the giant "water bugs" in the frozen section. While their cooking use escapes my limited personal menu, they leave me amazed!) There are always a lot of very interesting prepared "to-go" sort of dishes near the check-out. Unfortunately, none are on ice or refrigerated....just sitting in containers or under plastic wrap on foam trays, piled on top of what looks like a simple card table. I'd wanted to try them a few times, but declined. Finally, one time I drove here just for fresh lemongrass for me and a pomelo for my Mom. Sadly, they were out of stock of both. I was able to buy both here, just one week before? I was forced to drive more and seek them elsewhere. So I thank UNITED! We randomly met a Lao lady at Walmart and she recommended this store to us. Boy are we glad she did because we felt like we hit the jackpot! There were so many delicious items available in their deli. We were told there would be more items on the weekends, but our weekend schedule wouldn't allow another visit to the area. We ended up with jeow bong, tomato jeow, lao sausage, fermented pork sausage, pork patties, beef jerky, papaya salad, and curry noodle soup. We loved everything except for the lao sausage and curry soup. I really wish we had a Lao deli here in Kansas City but at least now I know where to go if I'm ever in the area! read more

Yes, don't come here for mochi. Good mochi comes from outside of FL unfortunately!. DO come here for good produce, tasty roast duck/roasted crispy pork, a great variety, and good prices. Now I must warn you that they do have a variety of groceries but it is geared more towards Southeast Asian cuisine and Chinese cuisine. There are Korean/Japanese items here and there but you can do better at Jung Il Market or Kim's Brothers. United Oriental staff are helpful and friendly. They have also expanded to include a deli/cafe now! They also have boba tea and baked Asian goods. I also recommend this store to people with special diets including Gluten-Free because they have a variety of noodles/rice pasta/ and flours (tapioca/arrow root) that you can experiment with when trying to find wheat alternatives. Despite being a block away from similar-sized Oriental market, I prefer this one for more selection of goods both dry, fresh, made... and you can buy boba drinks there! Okay wait... the boba and pre-cooked food all tastes very cheaply made and perhaps left out a little longer than preferred. There's an entire aisle dedicated to drinks, condiments, fresh veggies, frozen seafood... almost all the basics a little Asian lady needs for her home cooking. Service has ALWAYS been so-so. If you don't speak Vietnamese, most questions are met with grunts and finger pointing. My cheery face has always been met with serious, unsmiling, hard-core work-is-my-life expressions. But no complaints. If you NEED those basics and don't want those expensive grocery-store-chain equivalents... then you can't complain. read more

We've been to this place a couple times to shop. My experience was average with the cafe where they have pork and duck available. They have boba as well. This place would probably be good if you're on a time crunch, and want to buy some groceries, and also get some boba or eat some food. Was glad to find this place after having to endure the Asian market just around the corner for 20 years. I was quiet surprised and impressed with this little market. The prices are very low and reasonable. I buy a large pack of peeled garlic (fresh) for less that $2.50. The veggies are so cheap compared to other markets. They have a nice selection of fresh meat and fish. The frozen foods have a little more ice build up than I like so I don't buy much frozen stuff from their. The people are very nice and friendly. They have a limited selection of bakery that is brought in from other vendors. Mostly Chinese stuff. They have a small restaurant in the back of the store with hot take out food. Like all Asian Markets you HAVE to watch the expire dates on the products. Always check before you buy. This is very common in the Asian food industry. My secrets will die with me) EXOTIC ASIAN DELI What's this in the back? Crispy duck, phad thai, banh mi, and other deli Asian stuff to grab and go? (And a bunch of other stuff my non-Vietnamese mind didn't recognize) Okay--the quality of the deli food definitely won't make you dump your Vietnamese friends (I tried. Believe me) but it can still be a nice little snack or lunch to take home when you're too busy fighting evil guys to cook. MORE VIETNAMESE THAN ALL-ASIAN Most items in the grocery area contain a mix of Asian packaged staples with a heavy emphasis on Vietnamese cuisine. Oh well- at least I can still get my soy sauce options. There' s a few fresh veggie items as well not common in your friendly Publix (and can be freakin' cheap too!) Of all the Asian stores around town (St. Pete & Pinellas Park), this is one of the cleanest stores and has the most items. They even carry some Korean items. Very good staff. They added a deli recently. Tasty prepared food like stir-fry clear noodles, curry, grilled pork, and stew on the hot line as well as other prepared package food. They have a cooler which holds cooked sweet rice. They also have boba drink which is not my thing since it's made with powder. read more

A standard asian market that has the essentials. I did find a few interesting and hard to find things like actual Durian (Guanabana/Soursop) fruit! Wide variety of asian snacks. I am not Asian but I enjoy Asian foods and am learning how to cook. I find that on Saturdays (only days I go) there are a few young girls at checkout and speak good who English and ready to help. I was not aware of the takeout food I will certainly try next time as i love the crispy pork. I was disappointed and surpirsed that of all of the shelves of tea they do not carry Bo Jen Mi. But as that tea is Japanese I will perhaps try to get it somewhere else. read more
