The nice lady in back of the front cash register took our order, and we sat down in the small restaurant area in the back and we ordered egg rolls (lumpia), and Bistek Tagalog. Fantastic little grocery store that has a small kitchen that makes all your favorite Filipino foods. I love Filipino food. I was in the area, and I bought a bunch of treats for dinner. I bought some lumpia, pancit bihon and kawali. The prices were very reasonable. And the food was absolutely delicious. My husband is now a Pinoy food lover too! They also have a selection of Pinoy groceries (no fresh fruits or veg, though, so you'll need to stop by MD Oriental to round out your meal). There was only one person working there, so I expect you could wait for a long time if there are multiple customers. I was the only person there, and I only waited 10 minutes for my food. The meat was extremely tender, literally melts in your mouth. Mixed the two together for the best combination of flavor. The staff at the store are super nice too. Don't expect anything fancy when you come in here since it's a true hole in the wall place that serves authentic Filipino food. You walk in and you're greeted with a small market where they sell some Filipino grocery items - from snacks to frozen items to condiments and everything in between. We specifically came here for food so we headed to the back of the market to order. It's a quaint place with only 2 tables and a kitchen. We placed our order and within 15 mins, we were served with tocilog, daingsilog, lumpia Shanghai and gulaman drink. Everything we had was delicious and took me back home. I took my mom and my brother when they visited last week for lunch. Ambiance is as I described before, small eating area, crowded by refrigerators and boxes. We ordered an array of food: dinuguan, lechón kawali, lumpia, fried bangus, and pinakbet. In my excitement, I forgot to take pictures, but the food came out quick, hot, and delicious as always. My mom and brother loved it. It was definitely "lutong bahay", food that is cooked in most Filipino homes. I'll always come back to this store when I'm in the area. This place is good for Filipino goods! They also have a little kitchen inside where you can order legit Filipino dishes. I recommend getting their dinuguan and kare kare! So good and it hits home! The prices can be a little higher than other places though. The workers/owners are very nice and welcoming. So I have fillipino friend and she told me about this place that sells lumpia (one of my favorites) and so I decided to give them a try (she couldn't make it) go into this stripmall and the tiny store is in the middle, and so I walk in and their is the gentleman behind the counter (I'm the only customer in there at the time) and I say is the restaurant open and he says yes what do you want and I say that this is my first experience in here and I ask him about what dinners he recommended and he looked at me with a confused look (like I was speaking german) and I pick 3 dinners and some lumpia; he starts to cook (he's the only employee working) and all of a sudden customers start coming in (all fillipino) and now I'm guessing he starts rushing my order and starts taking other peoples order and answering the phone, smh; long story short he comes out with my food in a small bag that barely contained my 3 pint size containers and lumpia and I say that was fast pay and leave get home open the bag and look in the containers and there was just a little meat few vegetables and a lot of broth (like I ordered soup) :-( and they all pretty much tasted alike and no love or seasoning whatsoever and no rice in any order which seemed odd, maybe because i'm a yankee (I hope not) that he showed no love, at all :-( read more

We've been to many Philippine restaurants in the area over the last 25+ years of being in the area. Everything has been really subpar and just never compared to my mom's cooking. This is EASILY the best Filipino food I've had in the Tampa/St. Pete area. We tried the lumpia, adobo, sisig, and lechon kawali. The lumpia were tasty. I actually never tried the adobo, but my family loved it. Sisig is very different than what I'm used to, but it was still very tasty - has a nice kick to it. The lechon was easily my favorite - crispy, and the sauce was excellent. The store itself is pretty small/tight, but they pack a lot of good items in here. I've been trying to find Royal for YEARS - and we finally found it! Definitely not as good as I remember, but it was very nostalgic for me. The owner is very nice, and they also do Balikbayan boxes (drop-off only) here. We will definitely be back. read more

We love this place!! I recommend the diniguan and sisig! Bistek is also my favorite! Can't leave without getting the lumpia! Walley and his sister make you feel right at home! This is the best Filipino food in town, they have that place next to the racquet club on fourth street, but I do not recommend it. Hate to leave bad reviews but we couldn't even finish the sisig there, very disappointing unfortunately. This place never disappoints and is very consistent with good food and friendly atmosphere! This is my second time back to the grocery store and my first review. 80% of the store is the grocery store. If you like some Pinoy cuisine ingredients, look no further. You can get it here. I am here actually for their 20% of store space. They have back alley kitchen restaurant. They do have two tables. I got the lechon and halo-halo. Unfortunately the lechon grill is not what I imagine roast pig. But is similar to Chinese crispy pork. However I like their dipping sauce. The brown sweet sauce is complimented the crispy pork. The halo-halo is definitely an item to have. They have many ingredients below with ice cream on top. Great drink for summer. Sweet and savory. I like their purple grain. It is enjoyable bite in the drink. One thing to improve is the store only one person. When you have long line in front of you might as well go to other restaurant. Because the wait is long. Food is great! My grand parents are both from the Philippines and they were both goth cooks and I grew up on their Cooking. This is the closest I can get to their cooking so if I ever need a little bit of taste of home or I'm feel home sick I go here. An unexpected gem. Wally, the store owner, is the man. He mans the grocery store himself as well as being the chef in the back, where he has 5 seats. The palabok was very nice garnished with real calamansi limes, straight from Wally's backyard. Sisig has just enough sour from the vinegar to make you keep eating more. I only come here for one specific item: McCormick Ube Extract. And, this market is the only place I have been able to find it for half the price it is online. My second favorite is the selection of exotic ice cream flavors like Ube and Halo Halo. The man running the register cannot answer any questions and is fairly lazy... So, if you are new to this kind of cuisine, I recommend doing your research online first before coming here and possibly bring a photo of what it is you are looking for. There is zero customer service going on, other than pushing register buttons and taking your money. On the weekends there is a nice lady cooking authentic Filipino food in the back kitchen. We were 5 adults two kids visiting from Texas from St. Petersburg beach, my wife's Filipino and I am srilankan, with 3 grown up daughters. We arrived an hour before the store closed. Wally the owner operator/chef cooked almost 8 dishes. Started serving them one by one in 30 minutes. He cooks All by himself, and we kept ordering and ordering more, the food kept coming. What a gem! I was not expecting to find this little eatery randomly after driving past it all these years. The place consists of a small Filipino store in the front with a little dining space in the back and an extremely small kitchen where the owner prepares a bunch of Filipino dishes. The dishes are cheap and really authentic. I loved the dinuguan or pork blood stew and the silog dishes which reminded me of my time in the Philippines a few months ago. Since he's the only one cooking you might have to wait a little bit for the food to be prepared, but oh boy is it worth it. When I'm back in town I will definitely come here for my Filipino fix. Finally don't forget to add some of the homemade vinegar to your food like a true Pinoy! Finally the store part they have some staples like banana sauce and Goldilocks products, however the selection is not very high so you'll probably be off looking at one of the other Filipino stores in the area if you can't find something here. read more
