Our experience with United Prime Van Lines was extremely disappointing and unprofessional from start to finish. Prior to our move, we participated in multiple phone consultations, submitted detailed photographs of our furniture, and conducted a Zoom video walkthrough to ensure the company had an accurate understanding of the size and scope of our move. Despite having this information well in advance, we were notified during the week of the move that our estimate would increase by approximately $8,000. We were told that certain furniture items were larger than expected, unstackable, or otherwise required additional space. After our furniture had already been loaded onto the moving truck, we were informed of an additional $3,000 charge because our street allegedly could not accommodate a large moving truck. When we questioned why this issue had not been identified during the quoting process, given that our address had never changed, we were told by Molly Helton, a manager at United Prime Van Lines, that federal laws and Department of Transportation regulations prevented the company from determining truck routes until the day of the move. However, after researching this claim, we were unable to find any law or regulation that prohibits a moving company from evaluating truck access or planning logistics prior to moving day. The moving crew was also significantly delayed. We were told they would arrive at approximately 1:00 PM, but they did not arrive until around 5:30 PM and continued working until approximately 3:00 AM. Following delivery, we repeatedly had to contact the company because much of our furniture had not been assembled. It ultimately took three days for the company to complete the unpacking and assembly process, with crews arriving at inconvenient and unreasonable hours. Unfortunately, the most serious issue was the extensive damage caused during the move. Nearly every piece of furniture sustained some form of damage. The individuals who unpacked and assembled our belongings appeared inexperienced and did not utilize appropriate moving or assembly equipment. As a result of the move, our home suffered substantial damage, including multiple holes in the walls, dents and gouges in the walls, scratches and dents in our wood flooring, and numerous scuff marks and other damage throughout the home. This damage is particularly upsetting because we recently completed a full renovation of our house. At the time of the move, the walls, paint, woodwork, and flooring were all in brand-new condition. We made numerous attempts to contact both Alex and Molly regarding the damage to our furniture and home. Unfortunately, our calls and concerns have largely gone unanswered. I already know Molly is going to come say some return in my review, but I am going to tell you to do your research on this company before you hire. If Ian picks up, hang up. He says everything is gravy & it's not. If Yuri is supposed to call you or text you he won't. We had to call because no one called us back to tell us the time for pickup. (Should have been first red flag.) If Aidy/Aiden gets your pickup; they work really slow. It took exactly 2 hours before anything was put into the truck. 2 hours for two employees to take apart a child floor bed. They kept calling my toddler daughter into the room (second red flag.) to the point, we got annoyed and pulled the kids and shut the door. They do take breaks that are considered "work hours." We directly told them DO not take the small boxes unless you have room. (we got a thumbs up & an ok.) They didn't take 1/2 of what was on the list & brought what was told not to. Our boxes were clearly not taken care of.(photos) They will not tell you that you owe more money; I asked Aidy/Aiden probably a dozen times if everything was ok? He spent 30 mins on the phone complaining he wasn't told about this or this or that. At first we didn't care & said it wasn't his fault. I told him everything I told Ian on the phone. He looked at my husband and said we'll get it all taken care of even if we work all night. In their agreement they are required to address addition charges, you are to sign to agree and pay. Never happened. What did happen was Aidy called 15 mins prior to arrival (8 PM.) telling my husband we were required to give $700 or they'll keep our stuff. In a small town out side of city limits. Already have given them almost $2000. Then Yuri said "now we won't accept your usps money thing because you're being difficult." They had us by the short hairs & got $2000 more from us. To make matters just worse. Molly (Who is so good at her job & wants us not to react out of emotions.) calls and alludes to calling the police for kidnapping & making a police report; unless we sign a release stating we won't go after them, they won't go after us. And then adds; and you can't write a negative review. They charged us an extra 4 hours & unloading took 2, so my husband wanted a refund. Nope Yuri said since we wasted their time they don't care about a refund. (It was said in more unpleasant words.) Now; granted I did have a "crash out." But who wouldn't? We already had $3000 in; we said we'd pay more if they'd just show up but they refused & hid down the road. So ya; I cried & was visibly upset & my husband was angry. Again; wouldn't you be? We have cameras to protect ourselves from this kind of things; especially in 2026. Do your research and go with a small company who cares. We needed stuff we couldn't move moved not the small things they rammed into the truck. The guy Eric who came though (since Aidy wouldn't come back & that's ok.) who came; should start his own business. What a great guy, he is the only who looked like he knew what he was doing the whole time. Best of luck on everyone's search but cast your bets on this one. I hired United Prime Van Lines as the carrier for my move from Washington to California, arranged through Elevated Moving Experts. The experience was extremely disappointing. Before pickup, I had disclosed to the broker that I would be transporting a toaster oven and other large items that would not fit in medium boxes. These items were approved as long as they contained no flammable materials. When United Prime's movers arrived, however, they rejected the items because they were not boxed and offered to pack them in $75 boxes. I declined and had to rearrange and remove belongings on moving day. After loading, the carrier estimated that my shipment required approximately 800 cubic feet and increased the price from $2900 to approximately $3,600. This was especially frustrating because I had already provided dimensions for my large items, and my desk was fully disassembled. I was given the choice of accepting the increased charge or canceling while losing my deposit and potentially paying a cancellation fee. At delivery, I was charged an additional $300 based on an estimate that the truck was more than 300 feet from my home, although I measured the distance afterward at approximately 225 feet. The movers also defined a flight of stairs as seven steps, causing 15 steps to count as three chargeable units. Several belongings arrived damaged or incomplete. My bench and vacuum had dents, the motor on my standing desk was damaged and no longer works, and critical pieces of my bed frame were missing. The delivery crew stopped responding when I asked about the missing parts. Overall, the move cost close to $4,000, and the process involved unexpected charges, inconsistent handling of approved items, and property damage. On July 6 I contracted Freeway Relocation Van Lines (FRVL) to ship household belongings. The binding estimate was $8900 and I paid a $2500 deposit. A subcontractor, United Prime Van Lines (UPVL), arrived on July 21 around 6:45pm. The driver, Erick Powers, hired two local men to help. They immediately started wrapping and loading belongings. Around 7:30pm a UPVL representative named Molly called. She said FRVL's estimate was low; my inventory required 1000 cubic feet (324 more than FRVL's estimate). I reduced the inventory, removing a grill, picnic table and chairs, office desk and chair, and large screen tv, but she insisted on the inflated volume and a new price of $12,500. She also demanded $5000 in cash equivalents or bank check. When I said I didn't have cash, Erick's demeanor instantly changed. He became agitated, aggressively pacing back and forth, staring me down. At one point he raised his voice and snapped, "I TOLD you you had to pay cash," which is untrue as we never discussed payment. I was scared. The change in demeanor was shocking; my belongings were being loaded; and I was home alone with three men, one of whom (Erick) had just turned aggressive. Under great duress, I agreed to Molly's demands. It was now about 8:30pm. Molly suggested using Cash App. It took time to set up a new account, connect a credit card, and get verified. When complete, I sent payment but instantly received a fraud alert from my credit card company; the transaction was denied. I called Molly and she insisted I come up with $5000 immediately. Erick again became agitated, staring me down while pacing back and forth. The longer I spoke to Molly, the more aggressive his behavior became. Eventually, he looked me square in the eye and said, "You gotta pay, one way or another. When people don't pay, that's when it gets ugly." I was beyond terrified. The threat of violence was palpable, so I offered to try Venmo. Molly accepted and, again under great duress, I sent payment. It was now about 10:30pm. Erick remained volatile and verbally abusive to his hired help. One worker quit at 11:30pm, saying Erick's treatment wasn't worth the money. He walked off into the night without getting paid. The next day I googled UPVL and found many complaints; I was just their latest victim. I also googled Erick; his criminal record is extensive. He has pleaded guilty to over a decade of incarceration for crimes such as 'robbery threat involving immediate serious injury' and possession of a firearm. This increased my fear exponentially. On July 25 I cancelled services with UPVL. Over the next week, I received numerous voicemails, text messages, and emails demanding I call to arrange the return of my belongings. Several were from FRVL, saying I needed to call them too. I refused, insisting all communication be done in writing. I believe FRVL and UPVL are in collusion. On July 27th, UPVL wrote, "your belongings have been placed into storage at our Pennsylvania storage. Once we receive the signed Release Form, we will provide you with the storage address and necessary instructions for arranging the pickup of your belongings." The Release Form absolves them of all liability, including theft, so I did not sign. Over the next several weeks, I demanded verification of the location of my belongings but UPVL refused. On August 20, they said Erick arranged storage and maintains control of my belongings. They also wrote, "no authorization to release or access the shipment will be provided until the required Release Form has been signed." They are now charging me $1000/mo in storage fees. UPVL is holding my belongings hostage until I sign a release form absolving them of theft or malicious damage. If I sign, they can steal or destroy everything without consequence. However, she ultimately chose not to file a damage claim simply to avoid dealing with any further stress, having already been put through an emotional wringer by Molly and her team. Unprofessional Conduct: Our team had to engage in several very heated conversations with Molly. Throughout the process, the company's behavior felt entirely shady, untrustworthy, and predatory. Misrepresenting that as an "admission" is dishonest and manipulative. Their public response is not only misleading but an intimidation attempt against a consumer who exercised her right to file a complaint. I am already in communication with the BBB and the U.S. Department of Transportation / FMCSA regarding this matter, and this defamatory statement has been added to my case. Regarding the mention of "$25,000," that figure is not far from reality considering the circumstances. I paid nearly $7,000 for this move, and due to their negligence, I lost virtually all of my belongings -- items accumulated over many years of hard work. IMPORTANT UPDATE: After thoroughly reviewing all documents related to my move, I can now confirm that United Prime Vanlines never provided me with a copy of my contract, which is already a serious transparency issue. However, the other company involved did provide their copy, and after reading it carefully, I verified that nowhere does it state that transporting sealed, non-perishable food is prohibited. All the items I packed were canned or dry, properly sealed, and professionally packed. On the contrary, they are the ones who violated their own contract by transporting my belongings alongside live and dead rodents, contaminating nearly all of my boxes, clothing, and furniture. The tone of the conversation was unprofessional, and I felt belittled rather than assisted. Prior to these discussions, I had already submitted a payment of more than $1,700. The company informed me that their concern was ensuring that payment cleared before the scheduled pickup date. I had no objection to this requirement and attempted to make payment on June 12, 2026, for a move scheduled on June 21, 2026. In my view, this provided more than sufficient time for processing. Be warned. Dave , the sales rep, will make all sorts of empty guarantees: "We'll be there every step of the way. We may be more expensive, but there will be no surprises--unlike less reputable companies. The price is the price. We guarantee". When they don't show, no one answers the phone. They'll tell you your furniture was larger than the "standard" you were quoted. They'll upcharge you at every turn. I was told I owed an extra $600 because my delivery was--surprise--"in NYC." , the same address I gave them when I made the agreement. According to Molly, their customer service rep, I was at fault for not understanding the agreement I signed. Go with the cheapest option. Exorbitant Changing Overcharges & Expenses - Upon arrival, United Prime Van Lines did a new Total Binding Estimate of $3,087.76. Once items were loaded, the amount charged was almost $700 more. We were given an initial "estimate" from Ian of MovingApt (a broker) for $2,100 which meant nothing -- our 1st mistake. United Prime Van Lines' final charge was close to $4,000 to move one bedroom of furniture 214 miles. At pickup, United Prime doubled the initial "estimate" of 348 ci/ft. We were given a new Total Binding Estimated Price of $3,087.76. It gets worse. After loading, the price was raised again to $3,749 and we were informed we could not unload any items. We had no choice but to pay the extra funds in cash or see our items carried away into the night. A terrible, upsetting experience. If I could give them a zero, I would. read more

It's hard experience... A marketing company, pretending to be a moving company outsourced my moving project to United Prime. They on their turn hired local drivers and moving crews. As result the drivers ran the business in their our terms: changing the delivery schedule, increasing cubic feet, adding extra charges and most disturbing - no stay with the schedule, no communication with the United prime dispatcher and customer service, just saying one thing but doing other, but demanding full balance even half of the cargo is on unknown location. This ended up with extra charges ( shuttle fee return fee etc. leading to 60% cost increase. The only professional person really tried to help me was Molly, the customer service manager, otherwise it would be a total disaster. My only hope is to her, as she understood the havoc made by these randomly chosen local drivers and unnecessary charges inflicted by themselves while running own delivery in parallel with mine. Remember, it's hard to control barely speaking English California subcontractors from Florida headquarter! Make sure you have her phone number! My 3 stars are for her only! We have moved between states several times and while it's never been a pleasant experience, our move with United Prime Van Lines was the worst moving experience ever. Here are some of the many issues: 1. The movers breached the contract by not arriving within the contract window and not completing the move when they arrived. 2. When the carrier delivered to our house, the movers stole our checkbook and credit cards. 3. One of the drivers contacted us after the move to let us know that the driver believed that the moving company fraudulently overcharged us for one of the loads. They allegedly charged us for approximately twice the load size from what the driver actually picked up and transported. 4. Almost all large or fragile items were broken or damaged. For example, we paid them extra for the movers to special package glass items and they only wrapped them in brown paper. read more

Their insurance is non-existent, or rather we have no proof that they even have insurance or that it works. Their insurance website is covered in scam ads and looks very gimicky and only there for legal reasons. We tried setting up a QA appointment to get our items appraised for the value of the receiving the better insurance option, they never showed. We then called and expected them to be able to do this the day that packing had started and they didn't allow us to have the full coverage insurance because there was no QA. Immediate red flag! We have tried multiple times to get our insurance items covered from the $0.60 per pound of items in our inventory that were damaged. Unfortunately, you need to have the original purchase receipts of all of the items, with the bill of lading, and the inventory list in a single file PNG/JPG/GIF/PDF format? We were moving from California to Florida, Do NOT USE this company!!!!!!! One person told us it would arrive this day then the other told us another day. Finally it arrived in a freight van not a moving van. Unloaded our antique secretary, broke off claw foot, antique refrigerator 3 broken feet, bar stool multiple scratches on leather seat, bed set head board cracked the corner of the wood headboard, multiple scratches and chips on it. Living room entertainment center broken glass door, pool table nice cherry wood with multiple scratches, chips . The legs were missing although they did find the legs and delivered them, the box with the leather pockets and all the hardware missing as well as 6 pool cues, balls and rack . We called (Molly) it didn't help one bit!!!!! She wanted to send her driver over to fix everything!! Finally, I had enough of numerous excuses as to how the company was going to correct or compensate us for all the damages and missing items so I asked Molly to please start a claim from the companies insurance and she said that they don't do that and we would have to file ourselves. She sent us the information to file but when entering my number and email as the form said, it said that no such number and email existed Again, scammed again. Awful company. They had one guy show up to move a nearly 3000 sqft home. They never had more than a couple people there. They raised the price on us mid move. They claimed our stuff would be here days ago, but we have no idea where it is or if it will arrive. They have some very shady positive Google reviews (similar names, people with only a couple reviews) which sound off, but the negative reviews match my experience precisely. They hired people off Craigslist to move our home. I'm awake right now because I'm sleeping on a ratty broken bed in my new home where I have no furniture. I have to work in the morning. Don't be taken in. They end up costing as much as a reputable company, and they are not at all professional. Terrible experience. While the actual movers were great, they raised the price on two occasions with no explanation other than that the boxes were not all the same sizes. This is after viewing everything beforehand, and agreeing to take all contents the first time the price was raised. They ultimately left several items, raised the price a second time, which concluded in my elderly parents paying more than double the original price quoted. The representative we dealt with to negotiate pricing was a 23 year old male who spoke very little English and was clearly frustrated at being asked to explain why changes were happening. I agree with all of the bad reviews. Do not allow this company to move your belongings. They will end up charging you double. Originally I spoke with Menards, moving and storage, Josh, their customer service representative, took my list of household items and gave me a quote of just under $3,000. Normally I use a U-Haul and have the move done myself. But because Josh assured me that it was cheaper, I decided to try out a moving company. Bad idea. After giving my list to Josh, he assured me that as long as I don't present a baby elephant on moving day. It wouldn't matter if I had extra items. I knew my furniture wasn't going to be extra items, however I knew there would be additional boxes as I wasn't finished packing. I questioned the list that Josh made because it wasn't exactly matching my list. For example, I told him I have a TV stand. However, it is four pieces. He said that it didn't matter. I continued to question he assured me I would be fine. Come a few days before moving day, Frederick calls me to confirm my list and I gave him the same list except added a few extra boxes. Frederick told me it was going to be $5,400 because Josh didn't put it in right and he needed to make sure that I was being charged correctly and that there was room on the truck. I have screen prints of the text messages that I sent Josh, where Josh assured me that we would be fine. Obviously wrong And Menards moving in storage did not care. They say they cared by giving me the $5,400 however, that's still almost double my original cost. But I had paid the deposit originally with the first quote and against my better judgment, paid the additional deposit because the cost had gone up which was wrong to do on my end. I gave them 3 days of availability. They decided they wanted to push it out the day after the availability. Which wasn't okay. After many arguments back and forth they finally set the date But that took many phone calls and aggravation to get that done. Menards, moving and storage, Hired a third party, United Prime Van lines, because Menards moving in storage is a broker. United Prime Van lines shows up, not with what I was told I was getting but a regular moving truck and they were going to load this truck up with my belongings and then transfer it to another truck that was going to make its way to my new state. Not what I was told. Then United Van lines starts going through the house and telling me that my furniture is considered bulky because it's heavy And this probably 23-year-old that doesn't speak very good English who isn't very nice when you try and talk to him and thinks he is all that and a bag of potato chips because he has the clipboard tells me I'm going to be charged extra. He also tells me that some of my furniture items aren't on the list which is where I brought up the TV stand earlier because I specifically said it has four pieces which is why Menards moving in storage. Allegedly put it as an entertainment center, however an entertainment center to the 20 something year old isn't a four-piece thing like I had said so he wants to charge extra for that and the list goes on. Alex, I believe was his name, continues to tell me that everything I have is going to be charged for more so when he was done, he wanted to charge me a total of $9300 to move all of my stuff. His people had already started wrapping the furniture and I told him I will not pay that because I can buy all no furniture for less. I can also rent a U-Haul for much less and I guarantee that my stuff will fit. He continued to argue with me and tell me that my stuff wouldn't fit in a U-Haul truck. Now mind you, I may not be a professional mover, however, I have moved many times in my life and I know what will fit in a truck and what will not. I told him to have his crew unpack my items and get out of my house. He continued to argue with me and question why I wouldn't continue with the move. Alex from United Prime Van lines, has extremely bad customer service. It's it also rude to speak in front of a customer in another language to your boss so that the customer can't understand what you're saying. Menards, moving and storage is also to blame because they hired that third party. I will be fighting that deposit. I don't typically write reviews, however, this has been one of the worst experiences of my life and I will never recommend a moving company. read more
