I was in houston during restaurant week and tried out different spots but none got like this one! The flavor of the spices was so on point!!!! Came here because I was craving goat stew and jollof rice. It's a mom and pops place and very laid back so you know it's gonna be good! Came with my sister and we got seated right away. My sister ordered the goat stew and I did the chicken stew with plantain and veggie. Order came out pretty fast and the flavors were so delish, it made me do a little shoulder dance!!!! Very authentic, very delicious!! I will for sure be coming back! Oh and very affordable with generous portions! I think our total was like $30!! We took several boxes to go! read more

Wowwwww wowww woww! All I need to say to sum the food here! The food is delicious omg I wish I like to Jack but I do not live in Houston. I went with my mother and sister, we arrived and were kindly welcomed. The restroom was not filled with people and they provided hand soap for washing as well. I ordered egusi soup with pounded yam and my sister & mother ordered the edikaikong soup. Our food took 10-15 minutes to arrive which was pretty good! Our server was so patient and kind as well. When I rated that egusi soup???? My heart melted. They really cool the soho with all their heart. They include love I'm telling you lol. The portion of soup to pounded yam was perfect as well, infant so much that I had to take the rest to go. I also tasted my mothers edikaikong soup and it was SO DELICIOUS!! So of course when I do come back I will be ordering that soup. But then again the egusi was just so amazing, it was really authentic tasting. This is my second time coming here and I was again, utterly pleased. I had the edikaikong with pounded yam. I asked for goat meat and they gave me plenty of it! They do not skimp out like other places. The soup to meat ratio is perfect, as is the amount of pounded yam. The place was pretty clean and they provide hand sanitizer at every table. One of the best fried tilapia dishes I've had anywhere. Plate includes bell peppers with onions, sauteed spinach and fried plantains. Comes with a bottle of water all for $11!! What a bargain!! My children and I just walked out after sitting there for over 10 minutes without so much as being acknowledged by any of the staff. I have been here several times with my family and I was just here earlier this week. Both women at the register looked right at me and did not acknowledge us. They never even sent anybody to our table to take an order. As many times as I have been here and as many times as I have spent money here, I will NEVER step foot in this place again. I absolutely refuse to spend my money at any establishment where my family is disrespected. By the way, Whoever that younger one is, You may want to inform her that looking at potential customers with an attitude is not a best practice in customer service, customer retention, or sales. read more

So, this was my first time coming here and OVERALL I thought the food was amazing and had great flavors. I ordered the tilapia ( it comes with spinach, vegetables, and plantains), and I also ordered a side of Jollof rice. Everything was great but my only complaint was that the spinach serving was so tiny and the vegetable side shouldn't be classified as a side, because I literally got a piece of an onion, and 2 small pieces of bell pepper. Disclaimer: NO I am not a Nigerian/African foods expert, but I am however an expert on food that taste good :-) Now that's out of the way... This place is the BIZ-NESS!!! I got there in time to beat the rush apparently; bc I'd only been there a few minutes when a rush of folks came through the doors. Many who were picking up very large catering orders. I noticed immediately how clean they were; the strip it's in is older & may make ya wonder lol. The waiter brought a bottled water & a menu to the table. I'd only tried fufu & another dish a few times a long time ago & wasn't quite sure what to get. My waiter was very nice & helped explain the dishes. I went for a goat stew/soup dish. OMG 1st of all when my food was brought out, I was smacked in the face by this beautiful aroma of fresh spices! Then the bright red richness of the stew dish & greens served along with the rice almost made it too pretty to eat....ALMOST!! ;-) While I spooned the stew over my rice, I noticed the large chunks of meat. The goat was extremely tender & flavorful. The rice was perfectly cooked & the greens were oh so yummy. They had just a tad bit of spice to them, but not too much. The fried plantain that comes w/ the dish was perfectly cooked too. As I sat back in my chair, trying to make room for some oxygen, I said to myself, I should've saved some for later....that's when I noticed I'd barely ate half of the dish. The portions here are humongo!! My waiter even giggled at me because he saw the look on my face. I def can't wait to get back here to try more of the menu. This place is cool. Prices are reasonable. They don't have cold beer though. The bottle is cold to touch. It looks cold, feels cold, but the beer inside is disappointingly ...warm. Even should you decide to suffer the indignity of putting ice in your beer; you cant, they have none. Also, the meat is very tough. They don't stew their meat in the sauce because it is so tough. Goat meat? Tough. Beef stew? Tough. Chicken? ...Sigh. Don't complain though, customer service isn't something valued here, so while they are not rude, they absolutely can't help you and your warm beer or tough meat. read more

This is a very authentic Nigerian restaurant. I first had their food at a catered event and just had to visit their restaurant for more. At the catered event I had the snail which was very large in comparison to the escargot with which I'm familiar. It was meaty and hearty and tasty. Their jollof rice is delicious, it's probably my favorite thing. I've had the spinach stew and fish pepper soup and more. I enjoyed it all. The food is flavored with spices that I've never used here in my cooking. I couldn't tell you all the spices they use, but it definitely makes for an interesting food flavor experience. They serve bottled water to every guest, which I prefer over tap. The service is good at the restaurant, and the place is clean. They say you go where the natives go, and if that's the case, then this is the place to go because the place is always full of Nigerians - many come to just come and pick up food and take it home or to their event. And they even play Nigerian tv. I enjoy the owner, she is very friendly and welcoming. She greets everyone who enters. read more

Where do I start: This was my first visit to United Sisters. Everything was "ok". I ended up here because Mamaput was out of everything. The service at United Sisters was slow and unorganized. They were welcoming and polite, but lacking in many areas. There are many pros and cons. The pricing was VERY FAIR. Cleanliness, ummm lacking. Food, "ok". They loaded my plate with rice and held out on the other sides and meats. They had music playing and the TV on, that was entertaining. I absolutely looooooove this restaurant! The plantain with vegetable and rice is so delicious coupled with goat meat. The gravy is rich and creamy so I pour it over the entire meal. The food is very affordable too. My only complaint would be service. There is a bit of a wait when I order in person. So usually I call ahead to place my order so it's ready when I arrive. If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. This is the FOURTH time that they have been unprofessional and screwed me over. The first time was my graduation and they cooked me the wrong rice. Wrong rice. Can you imagine? And we were forced to take it. The second time they hadn't started cooking the food by the time we got there and we had to wait three hours while my party was going on, so my guests where left hungry.
