Great post office, great service, good area......but the construction.....there is not a way to…read moreenter from Pleasant Street. You have to go north on 37 and come back or find a work around to come from the north side and come back south. So basically get to 19th street on the north side and come south. The only way to get there. It's not the post office's fault but still affects the accessibility of the post office.

On our first trip, we had an appointment and all of the supporting documentation outlined on the application and online, but we were told by Brady that we'd need an additional piece of information that was not listed. He came off as extremely knowledgeable and familiar with the process, so we took his word for it. Before even leaving the station, I'd received (via email) the necessary documentation, however we had no way of printing it there. Brady advised us that he was booked full for the rest of that day, but that I should come back with that documentation for my daughter's application and they'd get us taken care of. That was on Friday, 7/15/22. The next day, I went online to schedule another appointment, however there was an issue with the scheduler on the website. I went through all the steps, but did not receive confirmation that my appointment was booked. The appointment was for 7/20/22 at 10:45am, but I did not receive the confirmation email until 7/20/22 at 5:23pm. I walked into the location the next day (7/21/22) in hopes that I could be helped without an appointment. I was turned away. I tried, to no avail, to drop Brady's name and to mention the issue with the scheduler, but it didn't matter. They wouldn't help me. Today, I returned with all documentation, an appointment AND Brady was there!!! But guess what?! I didn't bring my child....duh, Kandice, they aren't going to issue a passport if the individual (even a minor) isn't present. I did all the steps required during my appointment time and Brady promised that he'd do his best to accommodate me if I returned with my daughter, although he was booked full for the rest of the afternoon. I scheduled an appointment for Thursday (the next available), but told him I'd return and wait today if I had to. On visit #4, which was my second for the day, I was able to complete the task. He had an appointment going and another couple on standby (no appointment), but he worked us in and got us taken care of. I really appreciated his extra effort and understanding. We need more people like him working in customer service positions! You can tell he cares about his job and the service that he is providing!!!

I made an appointment and arrived to find that the photo would be taken directly to the right of the counter while they continued to assist other customers. Can you say cringe?! I moved to stand against the white wall as the representative produced a tiny digital camera and insert the batteries (smart). He apologized that he'd have to get REALLY close in order to take the photo. It was so awkward. Could he not have stood at a distance and utilized the zoom function? I'm not sure, but the photo was not good. I'm contemplating on whether or not to use it. I don't utilize my passport as often as my driver's license, but I will have it for a while, so there's that. I also had a new DL photo taken today, but with their very sophisticated camera set-up the photo came out much better. I had used Google to look up the cost at UPS versus other places that offer them and they were the second cheapest. As it turns out, the pricing shown was inaccurate (thank you Google AI for that very wrong information). The cost was about double what I expected to pay. When I made the appointment online, no cost was shown or confirmed, but I'm sure that this information can be found on their website. Honestly, it was an afterthought for me. I just needed an up-to-date photo ASAP. The representative was kind and quick, although he kept apologizing for the printer and how long it takes. I was in and out in under 15 minutes.

Very frustrating since I was in a hurry.

While I've been spending an awful lot of time recently working on cleaning out my recently passed…read morefather's home, I knew it was supposed to rain today and decided to skip visiting Putnam County in favor handling some legal and logistical issues. This included a visit to the Post Office to complete my father's change of address (Boy, that's a loaded concept when the person has actually passed). While a change of address can typically be handled online or via a simple form, when the person is deceased it actually requires an in-person visit. Since I was on the northwest side of Indy, I opted to visit my old stomping grounds and went to the New Augusta branch at 84th and Moller Road. This is a large branch in an office/industrial park area. I won't quite say it's hidden, however, it's definitely set apart a bit. This branch offers self-service kiosks, PO boxes, gift cards, greeting cards, domestic money orders, inquiry money orders, mailing, pickup, business, and biometric services (by appointment). They do not offer passport services here. As you pull in, you go left if you just want to drop off mail. To the right, is a nice-sized parking lot with a couple accessible spots. There's an appropriate ramp, of course. As this is an older branch, there's no automatic doors. There are actually three doorways to get to the area for help/customer service - two at the main entrance and one separating this area from the self-serve areas. The counter is also not ADA friendly as it's much higher. The good news is that the employee I worked with was pretty awesome. She helped me with the form, got the necessary copies (if you're doing a change of address because of death, you'll typically need at least the death certificate and likely the probate order indicating you're the personal representative for the estate - this is why it has to be done in person). I watched the employees interact with customers and was impressed. They were timely, professional, friendly, and I appreciated that they reminded customers of a price increase coming up. I'm disappointed by the lack of access. It's pretty significant. However, the customer service was good. Overall, I'd say this was a solid mid-range experience. It didn't blow me away. It also wasn't really negative in any way. It was a solid middle-of-the-road experience. I'd easily go back as this branch was definitely quicker than the Nora branch and there was an overall helpful vibe. I got in and out quickly and got everything I needed done - plus, the employee told me exactly what I should expect in terms of timelines.
