I was over in Carmel and needed to mail a few things. I was surprised to find the post office so near, but hidden among medical buildings. The building is typical U.S. grade 1980's style, maybe a little bigger than others. There are nice work areas to prep packages, several self service stations, shipping supplies and gift cards for sale. The place is clean inside. Like most post offices, there was only one clerk working, so the line was long......and slow. Post offices boxes are around the corner separated into several bays. I really appreciate the self serve kiosks here where you can weigh packages, print labels, and buy postage without the need to stand in a long line. Usually I am able to use the self serve kiosks but occasionally I have to wait in the line. And the line can be very long, and very slow. One serious issue with this location that the mailboxes in front with the drive thru access are often full. I've seen both mailboxes completely stuffed with mail sticking out of the slot. Once it was raining hard and I could see mail stuffed inside that was getting wet. I don't ever drop my mail in the outside boxes anymore because they definitely don't collect the mail often enough. So I park and go inside to mail my letters. read more

The mail delivery may be delivered late in evening. Some days our street/neighborhood does not have mail delivery. When calling the local post office I am transfered to hold and then disconnected. Usually only one person trying to help a long line of customers. Why is this post office so understaffed? Why are the route drivers having to do two routes. This is a post office I visit on a regular basis. Today I want to speak about the service. The hours online say that they are open until 7:30 and I was impressed that the employees were there that late making sure all of the customers were taken care of. With it being that late in the evening you're not sure what to expect when it comes to customer service. I am updating my review even though I don't have much need to go into the post office these days, seems likely have improved.

I do not like this location. Mainly because every time I go in there is an employee saying some type of unwanted comment. My first experience was my passport appointment for my newborn daughter. I was the first one in while my husband parked the car and was going to bring her in. I show up to a cubicle and the lady doesn't even acknowledge me for a few minutes (I know she saw me because there's no door and she's writing but with her head up) then looks up finally and I say "hi we have a passport appointment" and she says "we?" And I said "yeah we.. my daughter is coming in after my husband parks the car" and she says "it looks like it's only you." Big eye roll. She was not nice during the appointment and spoke minimally. She would give us papers to sign and then get on her phone. You could just totally tell she would rather be anywhere else than with us doing this appointment. Second experience was going in to buy a simple book of stamps. I got a man that I could barely understand but after I told him what I wanted his response was "you're late." And I said "excuse me?" And he said "you're buying stamps too late this year." I think he was referring to if I wanted something to get to where it was going by Christmas, I was "late". I didn't like his comment because it's truly none of his business so I just stared at him and paid. He then said "bye bye." WHAT!! What kind of interaction is that and was that necessary? I get they're busy during the holidays but come on.. Other than my mishaps with (I hope) are just the wrong employees I am getting every time, this location seems alright. It is spacious and you're able to go in 24 hours for drop off which is nice. Just a shame that some of the employees made my experience not so great for a location that is convenient for me. read more

Stay away from this location. They all suck but this was really bottoms of the barrel. I was denied service here about 1.5 years ago and it still irritates me. I asked for help ringing up an item, the lady couldn't be bothered, acted as she was inconvenienced, only pointed to a self checkout machine never answering my question to confirm the transaction rang up correctly. This is an update to my last review, which I wrote eight years ago when I first moved to the Carmel area. (Has it been that long? Geez, Louise.) This post office is great! In fact, it's one of the best post offices in the area. I don't know if it's because this post office has improved in the last eight years, or because my standards have lowered after interacting with multiple post offices around Indy. Either way! This Carmel post office is the tops. I've had my passport photo taken here (and it came out great). I've mailed multiple packages and bought many stamps. I've sent letters to international address and domestic addresses, and through it all, I can count on this Carmel post office to be fast, efficient, clean and filed with positive people behind the counter. I went to this post office over the weekend while they were closed. I love that even after hours, you can go into the lobby and use the self-help kiosk, then drop your package off to be shipped. Because it was just after the holidays though, the package drop off windows were full (and when they're full, they lock). The self-help kiosk also couldn't find the address I was typing in while trying to print off a label. I was bummed that I'd have to come back. I returned yesterday and there was a long line, but I sucked it up and waited. There were two staff members working and they were both positive and upbeat. They kept thanking everyone in line and apologizing for the wait times. The line went a lot quicker than I expected and the staff member who helped me was entertaining my baby while I was filling out a form. So sweet. She found the address I needed in the system and made the experience seamless. I left feeling a weight off of my shoulders that my errand was done. Thank you to the cheery team! read more

I had a return label for a shipment that I had to print at work because I don't have a printer. I had sealed the package, but I hadn't had a chance to apply the label. (originally I thought it was a UPS label and the UPS store by me helps me apply the label all the time so I didn't think twice about it.) When I realized it was a USPS label, I took it to the local post office. The guy asked me if the package was sealed. I said "yes, but I didn't get a chance to apply the label because the label was in my car." He told me I would either have to come back with the label affixed, or I could buy a reel of tape. I hope the less than 2 cents worth of tape was worth this review because that is TERRIBLE customer service. Seriously... over affixing a label... It's no wonder that the USPS service is suffering so badly at the hands of UPS and FedEx. Good riddance! read more

Cuneyt was the only clerk and he moved so slow. I came in and there was 1 customer in front of me that he was helping. He talks slow and moves even slower and says "I think"so much so that I wouldn't trust that he knows anything for certain. After waiting 7 minutes to be helped, he made the simple process of scanning in my 3 prepaid packages much harder than it needed to be. To make things worse, other employees kept coming from the back and speaking to him while he was attempting to help us, the customers. I think one person was working on the schedule and that seems like something that should be handled in the back office. By the time I left the line was about 8 people deep! read more

The supervisor, Patrick, was professional, and we were able to speak with him. He was courteous and approachable. He was great! The lady behind the desk, should be careful how she talks to people when they approach her with a question. She was not very pleasant. Maybe we caught her on a bad day. We had to speak with the supervisor because our mail delivery guy, refused to deliver a package to us unless we paid him $10 in "cash only", but we would not get a receipt to prove we paid for owed postage. I went into this usps and Jeanna instantly wanted to make me cry with how rude and mean she was. She was not up for resolution what so ever and she treated me as if I was incompetent. With modern technology, you can take care of a lot of your own postal needs either at home through USPS.com or at the self-serve stations. If you have a package or large envelope and need to weigh it and create a mailing label, you can do that at one of the many self-serve stations and follow the touch screen instructions. There is usually a line here, but I've been able to take care of my needs without talking to a human. I also appreciate the drive-up blue mail boxes to drop things off in a pinch. read more

I probably will never return to this post office ever again. I'm a very patient person, but I feel like some of the employees that work here aren't and they are not very helpful. I was mailing a letter off and I also needed a money order. The worker wasn't able to give me fees for the passport expedited services...instead he told me while I search can I needed to step aside, so he can help another customer. After that I got frustrated and told him a random fee price for the money order and I know for a fact it was wrong. This was my second time in line, the first time I had to step aside as well because there was no address labels available out front and the lady who helped me first told me to also step aside...but she apologized for the labels missing. My advice is to hiring more help and hiring people that know more than just the terms and conditions to mailing a package. I try to stay far away from the post office, but have to go for work sometimes. I have been twice in the last few weeks and both time they had multiple employees and the line moved super quickly. There was even a person helping direct where and how to ship stuff before the line. It is under constriction right now. I thought this was recent, but someone at work said it has been that way for awhile. I do hope they get it done soon. I miss the stamp counter where they had cards and other items to buy. I frequent this post office but recently had an experience that compelled me to write this review. I was out early before the post office opened so I used the self serve kiosk to create my label. Well, I was in a rush so I did it quickly and then dropped the package in the drop box. Halfway on my way to work I had a weird feeling that I shipped my package to the wrong address. So I drove allll the way back to the post office. They were open for the day at this point. I loathe going to the post office. The only exception is the adorable and simple one in my hometown of Union City. Indy's post offices are a whole other ballgame. Most often they feature long lines, pissy postal workers and me incorrectly wrapping a box in some corner. So, why four stars for this particular location? They're remodeling but honestly the service is super quick now! There is someone walking the floor to answer questions--which in my opinion is so helpful! So instead of having to wait in line to be told oh you could have just put your package in this cart. There is a person that will come up and be like let me help you, you look confused. I must admit I hardly ever go to the post office anymore since I'm traveling for work, but the other day I stopped by this post office on MLK Jr. Day while running errands since I had the day off from work, and I was very happy with my experience. I used the self service kiosk to get some stamps to mail a few cards. I was pleased with how simple and easy it was to use and it did not take more than five minutes for me to do the transaction. The wonderful thing about the self service kiosk is you can mail packages as well without waiting in line. When I have had to mail a package or get a passport, the lines have moved very quickly no matter how long the line is which is very convenient. The staff is terrific and always very helpful and willing to provide assistance. This is my number one choice for a post office. read more

This is why I go to UPS for all my shipping needs, but I was sending a package to a PO Box and had no choice. The so-called customer service "gentleman" was lazy, condescending, and arrogant. He called me an idiot when I made a simple mistake on the keypad and then said a snide remark about the cost of shipping my rather large package. I just did what I had to do to finish my transaction and get the righteous heck out of there. Of course, it doesn't help that two workers said, out loud and in front of customers, that they hate people. Such a nice location! Lots of space and many self-service kiosks. I live in Indy but heard nice things about this location so I gave it a try because I work in the area and needed stamps. I ran in and went to the self serve kiosk, but it was down. The line was really long, so I double checked with a worker that I could buy stamps on the self-serve. He said yes and even offered to help me! I thought that was really nice! It turned out the kiosks were down, so he offered to go in the back for me and get the stamps. He kindly brought me some choices and a mini card reader for me to pay for it. I really appreciated the above and beyond help! I thought I'd have to wait in line forever, but he made the process much faster and easier. I'll be returning here for my future post office needs! read more

So, I went to the retail counter where a representative was helping a man with a envelope to buy. He gave me a dirty look seems ask me if I needed something. I told him I need to buy an envelope.
