This is the City of Richardson's main post office. There are a few other smaller locations, but if you want the most services and the best hours, you'll either come to this branch or head to the cities of Dallas or Plano. Parking here can be tricky. It's a circle drive, but with pedestrians and cars both coming and going you have to be super cautious not to run into anyone. The counter staff quick, efficient, professional and helpful, but there will rarely feel like there are enough in duty. Most days, I feel like there is a line and a wait because there are so many customers seeking services. The facility has a machine that allows you to weigh your package and pay for postage, but I rarely see anyone use it. It's less of a hassle to wait in line and get personalized help. They also offer postal boxes for rent, you can buy cards and pretty package mailers or even pick up the express or priority boxes of different sizes for free. Different unique stamps can be bought here, and the staff are great about always asking if you need some extra with your order. Limited quantities are available. Most services you can do buying online from the comfort of your home. Still, it is nice to know that you can still get personalized help when needed. read more

Came here today and have amazing service. This particular post office has a lot of different things including gift cards and packaging that you can send whatever you're sending in. You can also buy appointment of course get your passport taken care of here. I was surprised that I was able to do this on a weekend but I came in packaged the gift that I was sending and then walked right up to the counter without any line and had immediate service. The gentleman behind the counter was friendly and helpful and showed me all of my shipping options as well as insurance options. I was amazed at how long it had been since I shipped more than a letter from the post office. Amazon has truly changed things because I do most of my ordering whether it be for myself or someone else online. But occasionally you have something to ship that you can't get on Amazon and this was the case. I'm glad to know that they're still great customer service. read more

I have been doing bulk mailing for quite some time. First time at this post office. Apparently my mailers did not meet the criteria. News to me. I asked if they would consider accepting this one time, and I would make sure next time they were in the correct size. Avis said no. I said I didn't understand because every post office that I had been to had excepted this very size. Avis was extremely rude in a nice way - you know, you can be ugly in your attitude- in letting me know how they were wrong. And he wouldn't give me my mail back. I asked for his supervisor, who as it turns out, had been standing there the entire time. That must be all he does, because he let me stand in line for 5 minutes so Avis could help me. I asked him if he didn't think that Avis was " hitting me over the head with the information " - He said he was just trying to educate you. As I saw it, he was enjoying himself. Condescending behavior. I had to lean over the counter to retrieve my bulk mail, because Avis had pulled it closer to himself. As I left, I said I hope you have a great day. Avis said, I hope you have a great, marvelous, fabulous & every other adjective he could think of to say. I said that's a bit much. He said I really mean it. Yes, the sincerity was Oozing from his pores. I felt like it was someone who was enjoying exerting the tiny bit of power he could over someone else. Sad Really. This is my main post office and in the past I would say I have had average service for a USPS location. My last two visits, though, have been outstanding. Quick and efficient service with the ladies behind the counter thanking me and telling me to have a nice day! Well, another crappy post office. They have little self-service machines but what use is it if it doesn't work? I was hoping this larger post office in Richardson would have a working machine, but I was wrong! Luckily this place opens up at 8:30 AM, not 10 AM like the other location in Richardson. What use is a self-service machine in these post offices if they don't work?! The reason why I wanted Use these machines after hours is because I'm not really available during the hours the post office is supposed to be open and I don't have time to wait for 30 minutes in line and then 10 minutes for them to weigh the items and for me to pay for them. Tonight I wasted 40 minutes Driving between two post office is that there are self-service machine didn't work. Next time I'll probably pay a few extra bucks and just go to FedEx or UPS. read more

The Richardson Main office has always provided great service to me and others while in the line or lobby area. People too many times get on here and say wrong and totally inaccurate stories. Both the employees and the customers make their share of errors, incorrect info and not fully listening/understanding to each other. That's life for you. So many times I hear customers arguing, belittling and being pure a**holes with the post office employees, yet expect the opposite back to them. Come on people, grow up. I've come to know almost all the Richardson front counter employees. They have been nothing but nice, patient and even entertaining over the years. I've been trying to contact any human at the postal service for days after receiving a package that does not belong at my address. I've called the Richardson number as well as the 1-800 number at least 15 times, and no one has answered. I also submitted a ticket using the online system with no response. The delivery issue was not the USPS's fault, but why have phones if you refuse to answer them? I feel bad for the guy who probably thinks that his package was lost. read more

Clerks here are badass, let's get that out of the way. I mean they deal with inpatient people on a day to day basis. There's people who've never shipped out a package before so they need to be walked through it. Yes the service can be slow but they have to ensure that your package receives the utmost care and respect.. before it gets smashed by the mailman/lady haha. Besides, it's not their fault you decided to wait in line for 30 minutes when you could have just as easily used the kiosk. Do they need ONE more person working back there? YES. They need the equivalent of a busboy/bar-back. i.e. someone who can take care of your needs from A-Z. Hey, I deal with their mess ups too! I live within walking distance from them and they "mysteriously" """lost"""" a package of mine. I am emphasizing on mysteriously and lost because of the contents in this package that I had a notice/tracking slip for. Anywho.. that's nothing a random drug test wont fix ;-) Here are some helpful tips when coming to THIS PARTICULAR store: 1. If you have a tracking slip and are expecting a package don't go to the "package door" and ring the bell. Get in line (if there is one) and demand that the person behind the counter go and grab it for you. They use that sign and door to buy themselves time from having to deal with more customers. They usually don't have many people working the back, and if they are swamped then you will NEVER get your package unless you get in line. Trust me. Don't try your luck.. your time is spent better elsewhere; home. 2. If you want to get back to lunch/go home for the day AND you come in between 12:00pm-1:30pm and 4:00pm-5:00pm then you are asking to have a bad day. This location is too small and undermanned for the hell that goes on during those hours. If you have read this and still decide to go during those hours.. then go in expecting the worst and just embrace the suck. I promise it's only as bad as you think in your head. Just embrace the suck, be nice to them and go about your business. Trust me, they want to go home too. read more

One of the worst post office you can go to to pick up packages. I was the first to get there and ring them but no one would come out. I asked the guy at the desk if he could get it and was told that i have to ring. We ended up having a line and everyone got mad so that we started ringing it several times which annoyed the guy up front. I think the group of 6 of us waited any where from 15 to 30 minutes just to pick up a package. This was unnecessary. If I can avoid this place, I will. read more

Most of the employees at this post office are assholes. There's a guy who always bitches when you drop off prepaid express international packages at the counter, claiming that they don't get paid to accept prepaid packages, even though the instructions clearly state that international packages may NOT be placed in collection boxes and MUST be presented to a postal employee. Then there's the fat lady who will grab your package (not dirty) without bitching, but will then yell "DO YOU WANT ANYTHING ELSE???" with an infuriating smirk on her face if you happen to linger at the counter for a split second waiting for a receipt, which they are REQUIRED to provide but never do anymore. Be prepared to be treated like shit if you dare ask her to scan the package and give you a receipt. Oh, and there's of course the several Priority Mail packages I've left in the collection box at this post office that were mysteriously never scanned, delivered, or returned to me. If you don't want your packages stolen, don't drop them off here. The only cool employee at this post office is the Indian/Middle Eastern guy in glasses. read more

I usually dread going to the Post office close to my office on my lunch breaks because it always seems like they are understaffed and it takes too long. This is a new location I tried, the staff was friendly, and they had the line moving very quickly. I've used this post office many a time. I used to buy and sell stuff on eBay and I lived at UTD, so this was my post office. I came here probably at least 2-3 times a week to ship items. There is a sign now that says you can no longer leave packages at the counter without someone there to accept them. They used to allow that. Prepaid packages can go in the APC (at least that's what the labels used to say), it may have changed recently. I was there just recently and the same employees are there and they have always been nice to me. Don't think I've ever had a problem. This location also has a passport "office" so if you need a non-urgent passport, they can take care of you here as well. The APC is very handy. I'm there shipping stuff way after hours and I don't have any problems. Just make sure it can fit in the drop box. read more

This post office really sucks! They have delayed delivery of my packages for up to 10 days. I stopped by on 02/16/21 around 3pm and they were closed. And USPS wonders why they are in the red. I would give a 0 star rating if I could! I am disgusted by my experience at this post office. They lost my dad's ashes! My grandma shipped them to me 2-day priority with insurance - but clearly that means NOTHING! The man that I spoke with was completely insensitive to the entire situation! Told me that he would not get his supervisor, there was nothing he could do and wasn't going to argue for the next 35 minutes until close. The tracking stated that my dad's ashes were at that post office but are nowhere to be found! They're guessing that the ashes are being returned to my grandma but they can't confirm it because the package hasn't been scanned as ever leaving the facility...but they assured me that my package is not there. Well then...WHERE THE HELL IS IT??! Absolutely ridiculous. This isn't a Christmas card. This package has my dad's remains and they aren't doing a thing to help me find them! This is the absolute WORST post office I have ever been with. I deal with a lot of postal employees on a regular with my job. Today I had to drop off something for my job and the older African American lady was absolutely rude. I understand it's 5:01 but you could at least be nice.. not absolutely rude. I visited this location last Friday (05/20/16) in order to get my photo taken & turn in/pay for my passport. The parking was open and very easy to find a spot up front. I showed up 15 minutes early as a just in case and saw about 7-10 people go through the general line & have various tasks completed. The line never reached more than 2 people deep before the attendants were calling on the next person. I overheard a few conversations about mail procedures & the agents there seemed knowledgeable & very helpful to the customers. I had an appointment at 1:00pm and the passport agent was there pretty promptly. I was in and out within 15 minutes. I had called a general number to set up the original appointment (apparently they are notorious for double booking the post offices though). The lady helping me was very kind & polite. The first passport photo was a bit blurry so we took a second one & everything else was very smooth. Very positive experience at this location! read more

This place sucks, I came in with two pieces of packages and their labels that I printed out. They allowed me to use their tape gun to tape the label on one of my priority mail but not the parcel select. ALL I WAS TRYING TO DO IS PUT THE LABEL ON not tape the whole package. Then I asked the guy who told me that I can't use their tape gun for the parcel select mail hand back my priority mail and the tape gun. I showed them how easy to use an entire roll of tape on a priority mail. Things would be much easier if he just let me use the tape gun and tape the label. "We sell tapes." BS talking, I just used the tape gun for my priority mail why can't I use it on my other mail, I well packed my packages and all I'm trying to do is tape the labels on. read more

If you can avoid the post office that is the best advice I can give. You have options at UPS and Fed X and I will do anything not to have to go to one of the most unfriendly places in town. Why do they all seem to hate their jobs? They make great wages, have great benefits, short hours, extended vacations and great working conditions. What is the problem? Oh I know they are going broke!
