So, I had to switch to a bigger box. These boxes are a little more difficult to put together and seal. You knew how to take some of the tape off and reseal it. That is great customer service. I also bought some more stamps, because my Yelp friend, Susie L. made me aware that the price of stamps is going up soon. I got the cutest puppies and kittens stamps. I'm unsure as to why there are so many 1-star reviews at this USPS location because it sure doesn't seem that awful. In fact, I like this USPS a bit more because of their longer Saturday hours. Most other USPS locations close at 1 PM but this place stays open until 4 PM. Assuming because of these hours, they tend to be busier than most USPS' on the weekends. I swung by around 3:50 PM yesterday to mail out two packages and did so in less than 10 minutes. They were fully stocked with priority envelopes and priority tape in hand so self-service was efficient. If you decided to wait in line, you could expect to wait at least 15 minutes before being helped because of how busy it was. I've visited this location before on a weekday in the early morning and service is generally quick and really friendly. I don't think I've ever had an issue with any employee here. Note that the turn getting into this post office is a bit tight and with doing so you just have to be a bit more careful. There's a small private parking lot available too so it's convenient but definitely packed with cars and pedestrians. There's nothing special about this USPS but it does get the job done with flexible hours and a decent amount of inventory on mail supplies available for purchase. I would definitely recommend this location only if you're in the area or you need to mail something late afternoon on the weekend. read more

Several packages inexplicably marked as "undeliverable" and returned to sender. Went to ask why this was happening, front desk person (Adolfo) took down my information and said I should call the delivery supervisor (gave me a phone number), but didn't have an explanation for why this was happening. Called the number THREE times and spoke to THREE different "delivery supervisors", who repeatedly took down my information, promise they'd investigate and call me back, but never did. Now nobody answers that number. This is a joke. Our taxes keep the USPS afloat, yet they don't think about better serving the very customers that ensure their livelihood?! read more

While I was in line I watched idiot after idiot in line and approaching the sales counter unprepared. Once in front of the clerks they proceeded to act like idiots causing the rest of us to wait in the long line. Do us all a favor - go to the post office prepared! Check online and get answers to your idiot questions. Don't wait to get to the clerk to mess the rest of our days up. Don't have a box? Get out of line! Need to call your husband to get an address? You may find this strange, but the Rockville Post Office is also a homeless shelter. The USPS not only delivers mail, but they are also provide housing to people who need a place to sleep. I have a PO Box at the Post Office, and visit it around 9pm several time a week. Most nights there is a person or two sleeping by the boxes. Last night one was sleeping in the entrance to the facility. I like the option to access my box after hours, but don't like stepping over people sleeping in my path to the box. The staff at the Post Office see this as a good use of their facility, regardless of the disruption to their PO box service and their paying customers. Since they do not want to block the homeless using their facility as a bedroom, I would appreciate it if they would set up a sleeping space in front of the service desks and not in the path to my box. read more

I wanted to take a picture of the letter that I was sending, but the teller became hostile and unfriendly and told me I wasn't allowed to take pictures inside the post office. I told him he was wrong and misinformed. I said there was no expectation of privacy in the post office and that it was a public facility. The teller responded that it was a federal facility, and so I wasn't allowed to take pictures. I told him he was incorrect. He told me to go outside and take the picture. His supervisor wasn't much help, but she directed me to the automatic stamp machine and left me there. The teller refused to help me and made a scene about the issue in front of everyone in line. I left very unhappy and disappointed. No one was willing to discuss the issue with me in a professional and responsible manner. read more

Literally every single package I have order that is delivered through USPS has gotten lost. I saw the USPS man sorting out mail at my apartment complex, he dumps an entire box of letters on the floor.... I am moving in 4 days and they still have one of my packages misplaced. Not a week goes by without a problem. Who trains these people? Almost every package I receive is a problem lately. Today's problem was "insufficient address" and then "package held at customer request" and then "left instructions". How to you leave instructions when you have the wrong address? And I never spoke to a single person requesting a hold. So now they just lie so they don't have to do their job. This incompetence is unreal. Week after week. This post office branch used to be a lot better before they lost some key staff. It is not uncommon to see only one or two desks open during the busiest hours which leads to a line of 10 - 20 people deep at all hours. Unacceptable since this is a branch in a very busy urban area near tons of office buildings. I only come here to use the self service booths (there are 3) which are quick and painless and never have a line. If you need a passport or anything to go overseas, try to go to a bigger branch (Germantown, Shady Grove Road or the one near Montgomery Mall) which are better staffed and able to help you quicker. Also, do not even think of coming here on a Saturday unless you can be here for at least an hour. Not kidding. It is awful. Lines out the door. read more

This is ABSOLUTELY the worse post office I have ever experienced. I'm very patient, but I'll say this right now - every single person on this staff needs to be replaced. They are passive aggressive, rude, nasty, and the big one - they lie. I've been told the post office doesn't insure any type of art (a complaint filed USPS.com fixed that). They have let me (and others) stand without any service at times for over 10 - 15 min waiting for some clown to come out of the back room (who never shows up). I absolutely loath walking in here when I need to pick up a package (if they let me know it's there). The mailmen are horrible. I've had numerous packages returned to the sender without ever receiving a notice. They have lied about delivering packages which mysteriously show up a day after I file a complaint. This is so bad, I'm thinking of moving. Who can deal with this on a daily basis? The worst part of all this is you can complain through the postmaster or USPS.com as much as you like. It will do nothing since it's the government (which you're reminded of every time you walk in with their attitude and performance). I have been to the post office branch on N. Washington St 2ce within the past several weeks and both experiences left for between some and a lot to be desired. During my first visit, the clerk offered me 2 generic options for mailing the package and, in response, I told her that I had a question--only to receive a curt, almost itching for a fight response that I haven't answered her inquiry first. Are we in grade school here and what-ever happened to customer service if I cannot properly answer her question without getting a response to mine? I politely played her game even though the answer to my Q would be the deciding factor for which service would be needed. A second set of questions did not go much better. On my second visit, a soft-spoken man helped me to mail my package. He answered my questions without any response whatsoever to my attempts at small-talk humor (no deductions for this, obviously) but then proceeded to recommend the wrong service. I was sending important documents to a PO Box and specifically mentioned this prior to (upon return to the window after filling out address forms in ~2 minutes) asking whether to use delivery confirmation service A, which does not require a signature, and delivery confirmation service B, which mandates that someone sign for the package. In my excitement, I unfortunately did not connect the dots that no one can sign for this piece of mail since it was going to a PO Box. However, I do not do this everyday but he does. We even had a prolonged discussion about my options! Net loss of an extra $2 for the difference in shipping charges. Epic fail, post office. Your staff should know which services can and cannot be used for which types of mailing addresses. Both times, the lines were long and, at times, I saw all staff leave as if for break with the queue left to our own devices. A further but still irksome aspect of this PO is that the parking lot's spots are too narrow. I am petite and within my weight range yet if I park between 2 cars, it is nearly impossible to get out of my car without coming into contact--or having a near-miss experience--with the neighboring vehicle. Seriously, people! What sorts of anorexic alien beings do you think park here? I do enjoy a challenging game of limbo whenever the occasion arises but a visit to the local post office should not be one of those times. Needless to say, I am so not coming back here! read more

This is the "slower" post office because it does MORE Volume. If people don't want to wait in line, print the label online. Quit crying about customer service. If you want customer service go to UPS or FedEx and Pay double what you pay to ship with USPS. There is usually a line here, but doesn't affect me because I just drop my packages off and get on with my day. Print labels online and get free tracking. read more

It seems like this post office is like the gang that couldn't shoot straight. I haven't received any mail. I have a residence, not a box. I'm told only trainees are assigned to my neighborhood, because the Postal Service allows people with any experience to choose their own routes. So, my neighbors routinely deliver my mail, or not. Additionally, I had a Congressman follow up on the poor service. That resulted in improvement for one month, for which I am eternally grateful...NOT! I even suggested that this Post Office consider not delivering mail anymore, since they obviously can't handle it. Well, I guess they took me up on my suggestion. I've been coming to this location for quiet some time without any issues. During the pandemic, several of my packages were lost in transit and I understood as the mass volume of packages were pretty severe for any shipping service. The tracking number of the packages that were lost only showed that the label was created in the Rockville location but there would never any further updates. I would eventually file a claim and the package would be considered lost. Today I stopped by to drop off a 6x4x2 box in which I usually use the larger label that perfectly fits on the back of the box. I prefer to larger labels because the trend is that the small tracking bar codes seem to be the packages that get lost. I asked the employee Piranh for the larger label but she refused to print another larger one. I've sometimes asked this request after it's been printed and a larger label was reprinted per my request. The employee kept insisting she refused to reprint which I'm thinking I'm paying for this label and service, and I don't want the small shipping label as those are the packages that seem to be getting lost. I kept insisting I wanted the large label because the smaller one she printed was covering the sender name and part of the stamp bar code and I don't want that to be an issue. As she and I were going back and forth and she was trying to readjust the label to fit better, sassy pants Steve decided to talk over us saying they were not reprinting the label. I started to explain to him why I wanted a reprint, the label doesn't fit properly and in the past my packages have been lost in which he became rude and started interrupting me saying he's already heard it and kept insisting that packages don't get lost. It's hard to talk to someone when they already lie to you by stating packages don't get lost. I told him, they do in fact get lost as I've already filed claimed with some of my packages so he's mistaken on that statement. At this point, the rudeness from Sassy Pants Steve and the lying of stating packages don't get lost I decided to just go ahead with purchase and hope for the best. I asked for his name in which he flipped his dreadlocks out of the way to reveal his name tag and walked away as he said "my name is Steve and I'm the manager". I'm laughing inside thinking this employee is really upset and needs to keep lying. I spoken to the manager in person before regarding a lost package. Managers usually wear a white dress shirt with tie or no tie. Sassy Pants Steve was wearing a regular polo shirt just like the rest of the employees. It's not often managers work behind the counter, but maybe they were short on staff, but again, this employee was not wearing anything to clearly identify he was the manager. Managers always dress differently, and their name tags are slightly different. Sassy Pants Steve might have been the supervisor of the shift, but that's different from being the manager. If you want attitude and be lied to when you are asking for something, this is the place. Unprofessional staff and service is all you will get. read more

They over charged us for sending out a mass mailing ($2.32 per envelope instead of $0.91 elsewhere - we know b/c we sent out a couple extras from an Arlington USPS on the self serve). On top of that - our envelopes came to our recipients all mangled. The guys are clueless and careless. read more

Good experience on a Saturday at this post office. They had 3 people working the counters plus one person working the line - pulling out people who could use the machine to do what they need and showing them how. Much better experience than at many of the nearby post offices. Definitely showed initiative in handling a big crowd and the people at the counter were nice and helpful. read more

Did not receive change at a time of a service. Typically I'm paying with a cc, this time had to buy a money order and paid cash. This post office does handle a lot of volume so they really ought to have more than two people working the counter at 4pm on a Friday. If you are even remotely tech savvy and all you need to do is buy stamps or mail a package, so inside and use the automated machine. It is VERY easy to use and it MUCH faster than waiting on a 10-person que. That said, the parking is horrid because the spots are painted very small and no one seems to know how to park in them. This is a review of the Rockville post office at North Washington Street.. I have had nothing but bad attitudes from the staff, who in this difficult economy are handsomely paid. They make a minimum of 39k per year and fail to scan my pre-labeled packages and at least 5 packages I have taken have been "lost". I have a small business I operate and due to this less than satisfactory post office, I have lost money due to the fact I have had to refund the money of customers who never received their packages. They give me "attitude" when I ask for assistance and change the "rules" to be difficult. I have asked to pay the difference in postage to expedite the shipping of an item and at last twice made me go home and void the transaction through Pitney Bowes ( and wait 2 weeks for my refund) and re-make the label...
