I recently visited the United States Postal Service location, and while the space itself isn't the most modern or the cleanest, the service more than made up for it. The ladies working there were incredibly efficient, friendly, and genuinely helpful. I had a mailing request and wasn't completely sure about the best way to send my letter, but they guided me through the process and made sure everything was done correctly. You can tell they know what they're doing and care about helping people get things right. The ladies is what makes this place cool and reliable. Another perk is the free parking in front. I really appreciated their support, it turned what could've been a confusing errand into a smooth experience. Also, a big plus that they're open on Saturdays until 2 PM, which is super convenient. Just improve the overall aspect of it and installations and it would win two additional stars. read more

The passport clerk is super rude, don't even make appointments there for passports because they don't care if you have one. The lady denied seeing me and my 9 month old baby, she said they didn't accept any walk ins and she couldn't see me on my appointment day either. The clerk was so unprofessional and disrespectful. This Post Office in South Miami near Dixie Hwy and Sunset Place is alright. Ms. Judy is very efficient with passport applications. She did both of ours very quickly and accurately. You must make an appointment to get your application processed and sent. The passports and passport cards arrived just a few weeks later in the mail. Overall this is pretty busy post office so expect to wait in line. The friendliness of the employees is hit or miss, but not bad. If you have a simple package to mail (you can also purchase insurance and tracking if needed) then use the automated machine and do it yourself to save time. It takes credit cards. read more

There isn't really anything good to say. Everyone that works here is very unhelpful. I recently moved to the area and they couldn't even get keys to my mailbox (that job was now my own). Including taking off the old one and replacing it with a new that I picked up from Home Depot at personal cost. Unheard of really. I blame Miami!! This Post Office may not be the best, but it is so-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o much better than the Sunset Branch that I had before moving to South Miami, it's not even funny. The Sunset Branch really sucked--I think I only got about 1/2 my mail when I lived in Kendall--and the person assigned to package pick-up was never there--despite the sign to "ring for service" (I decided to keep on ringing one day to see what--or if--"service" would come and after a long time trying, a group of thugs from the back came out and verbally attacked me.) The "invisible woman" assigned to package pick-up there was a joke. At the South Miami Branch, however, they have been consistently friendly and helpful for the most part. (I did have one unfortunate incident with an ill-informed female staffer when I went there to apply for a passport. She gave me wrong information and was quite unpleasant about the whole matter.) The South Miami Branch has very long lines as all the the Miami Post Offices seem to, but despite this, most of the employees seem to try to be friendly and helpful. Having lived in other places, I really do not think the South Florida post offices take the mail as seriously as the rest of the country does. I have lived in settings ranging from way out in the country to New York City itself, and I never encountered the lackadaisical attitude toward mail delivery that the South Florida system seems to have. (The South Florida post offices usually have much longer lines than those I encountered during my 20+ years in New York City.) That said, despite long lines, the employees at the South Miami branch seem to make an effort to be friendly and helpful--I applaud them for that. (I would take the employees of the Sunset Branch out back to be shot -- there was only one employee there who even seemed to be halfway trying. That branch had SERIOUS problems.) I hope that the South Miami branch employees continue to be as pleasant and professional as they have been. Fingers crossed! read more

I have no words for this place :( I shipped a package from here on sept 8th that was supposed to be delivered on sept 11th in Illinois. Why did it go to Rhode Island and sit there for 3 days? Then to Massachusetts where it is now sitting 8 days later??? And I call the post office, they won't let me speak to a live person so I come to the branch that I mailed it from and wait 30 mins to speak to someone who tells me that they can't tell me anything and I should call Massachusetts. WHAT?!?!??? Why would Massachusetts know why the hell you sent my package there when it was supposed to go to Illinois?!????? Then I ask for a supervisor who proceeded to tell me that maybe I sent it to MA.. With my receipt in his hands clearly showing that it was shipped to Glenview, IL WTF?!? And he tells me that there is nothing he can tell me but I can call consumer affairs and make a complaint. Wow... I'm speechless (not really because I had plenty of words for him) but just WOW... Never again will I come here! And I made sure to let him know that this is not the first time my shipments out of this branch have taken "longer than necessary" I just always chalked it up to bad weather or slight delays but clearly it is a problem with THIS branch and the employees working here. This place is awful!!!! Now I have to replace a customer's purchase at MY cost and also deal with bad reviews for delayed delivery. Unbelievable!!!!!!! Supervisor Colley Wallace.. First time at this post office. Went in with a package and label ready however did not have tape to close my box. I asked for assistance for a bit of tape and was told that they cannot provide that and just pointed me towards buying a small roll of tape for $3.49. I understand I should have had my package ready but I also understand how good customer service works and this was a perfect example of how it does NOT work. I have a two-fold complaint: First, I walked 1.5 miles to the So. Miami Post Office (I have no car) to apply for a passport on a Monday, learned that they do not accept applications on Mondays & that an * appt * is required. In fairness, I did find this info on the USPS website after the fact.. BUT what annoyed me was that the passport clerk was not doing a damn thing, not even servicing regular postal customers. As far as I could see, his ONLY function was to tell ppl there were no passport services on Mondays. I could not get an appt for THREE weeks. NOTE: Go to Coral Gables City Hall, 450 Biltmore Way (305-446-6800) during normal hours - - NO APPT NEEDED - - to apply for a passport. Call first so you can bring the correct two money orders required (no cash or personal checks ). Secondly, I went to the So, Miami Post office after hours to send certified mail to the IRS. I was able to buy the postage using the automated machine BUT THERE WERE NO CERTIFIED MAIL FORMS - - or any other forms - - to be found in the forms slots. I then went to the Ludlam post office and, again, not a single certified mail form - - or any mail form - - to be found. So unprofessional, so sloppy and so frustrating. read more

I would love to ravv about this post office, especially since it's my local branch. But, unfortunately the truth is the truth. The staff (including managers) are inconsistent with their information. The online store hours are not accurate. When faced with a problem in mail delivery as a SoMi resident I would expect more effort and kindness to help resolve the issue. Our mail lady who delivers our mail is very rude and LAZY. When I spoke to the branch manager he said he can't do anything because she's rude to him as well, and does not listen to anyone. Seems like there's a BIG problem with the inner workings of this office if the manager can not address his own staff. We've had our mail returned to the sender over laziness and inconsistent information. That is unacceptable and just plain rude! I would give this location 1 star if it wasn't for the fairly clean inside area and the not so long lines. I really hope the USPS does not go bankrupt or out of business, but with staff like the SoMi location, I can see why they would. :0( read more

I went to this post office and have a bad and good experience. I arrived at 11:59 on 12/31 with a box to send and as i walked in the door a very rude lazy woman started yelling at me, saying "We close", "We close!" in a very loud and rude voice. I explained that i was travel ling the following day, and if she could be KIND and help me I would appreciate it. She continued to be VERY rude, until Raymond Loor, came around from behind the desk and offered to help me. If he would not have done this, I would have been left with a VERY bad taste of this government service. Our packages are always handled very poorly. Smaller packages are shoved in our mailbox. Larger packages are tossed on our front porch. On Friday, our package was placed on the edge of the porch and it got drenched. Unfortunately, they don't take responsibility or care to improve. read more
