This review is to enlighten anyone who is considering using Newtown Square Veterinary Hospital in…read moreNewtown square. We started with this practice in March 2022. We have a Pitbull/ Terrier mix who is a rescue and now approximately 4 years old. Annie had a a very tough beginning, having been abandoned at a very young age. She was highly stressed and very anxious. In addition she developed IBD (irritable bowel syndrome) and environmental allergies. In the beginning Annie was treated by this practice for her allergies with topicals, antibiotics and eventually laser therapy treatments. After an extreme case of interdigital cysts we were referred to an outside dermatologist who prescribed an increase dose of steroids with horrible results. Weight loss, muscle mass loss and behavioral changes. NSVH even questioned why this was done. We have paid thousands of dollars to NSVH for overall care, meds, injections, vaccinations and laser therapy. Never ONCE did NSVH address Annie's GI issues but freely gave her anti- nausea injections and meds which became very costly. We made a decision to get Annie to an internist to determine a solution. NSVH was very vocal that they did not agree but wanted us to go to a different dermatologist. Their attitude changed after that and during one of Annie's GI upset exams the owner, Dr. Di Giacomo stated " there is nothing more we can do to help Annie". Our last visit to NSVH for a blood draw was with their tech Brittany. This technician hurt Annie and she winced and yelped. The next week Annie needed another blood draw and Brittany again was the tech. I said to her, " Please be careful because last time you hurt her." Apparently my honesty was not received well and shortly after received an email by Dr. Di Giacomo stating that I accused her tech of "injuring" Annie when in fact I said "she hurt" her. It is also clearly stated in Annie's medical records. In this email she also told us that they were not going to be providing any more vet care and we needed to seek another practice. On NSVH website it touts " fear free" practice and clients are "treated like family". Both statements could not be further from the truth! Since this time we have secured an amazing internist and an exemplary true "fear free" veterinary practice for Annie. They have addressed a diet change, and in addition now have her on daily probiotics. Annie is doing remarkably well! In conclusion, we would hope you would consider using an alternative veterinary practice other than NSVH.

Specifically, Dr. Dan Kirsch. I brought my kitten in for a first exam after adopting him from the SPCA for a little nasal discharge. He was absolutely fine otherwise. After starting him on the antibiotics, the nasal discharge went from clear to thick, yellow and cloudy. He became increasingly lethargic. After two days on the antibiotics, we called, informing the hospital of our kitten's response to the meds. Dr. Kirsch responded and prescribed even STRONGER antibiotics. We never made it to pick up those "stronger" antibiotics. That night, our kitten passed away. We went to the SPCA asking their thoughts and shared the dosage Dr. Kirsch prescribed, which was 100mg of doxycycline. The SPCA's vet agreed, saying it's something that they routinely use but they would never give that amount to a kitten. In fact, they would typically start out with 50mg and on a kitten of that size, they would cut it even further. Therefore, that means Dr. Kirsch OVERDOSED our kitten more than twice the amount he should have had. How could he? That was absolutely awful to hear and realize that we should not have trusted the vet. And to think Dr. Kirsch wanted to prescribe even stronger meds... the sheer idiocy. When we called, the front desk said that doxycycline was typically prescribed to kittens, even 12 weeks... but then we cut her off, saying that our kitten was 9 weeks. The front desk then said "I was counting down, like 12 weeks, 11, 10, 9..." What? That was ridiculous. I was shocked that after hearing that we lost our kitten, not only would VCA not own up to their mistake, they would try to gaslight us to cover their own ***es. Needless to say, Dr. Kirsch never called either to follow up. I highly suggest you do not use VCA Wellington for veterinary visits. If you must, then I suggest you do not have Dr. Kirsch see your kitten or cat. He was obviously incapable and the lack of empathy from the hospital overall was appalling.

I am writing this review to warn other pet owners…read more On December 10, 2025, I brought my dog Maximus for a health check thinking it might be teeth related... he had lumps by his mouth and then they discovered more lumps and said we had to do some lab work / it might be something bad. Bloodwork and cytology were ordered. I asked to wait for lab results before starting medication. I was advised to begin meloxicam (Metacam) and Clavamox immediately. Also stated plus it's not expensive...( life is priceless ) IF THEY WOULD HAVE WAITED FOR THE LAB WORK TO COME IN FIRST THEY WOULD HAVE SEEN HOW DANGEROUS THE PRESCRIPTION WAS FOR MY 4 pound dog because of his preexisting condition that they didn't know and I didn't know about !!!! My dog took it for TWO days and DIED in my arms within days... his health declined so rapidly before my eyes it was awful, horrific experience. When diagnostic results became available, they showed significant liver abnormalities, elevated SDMA indicating kidney compromise, pancreatitis, thrombocytopenia, and lymphoma -- conditions that increase risk with NSAID use. I wasn't informed about the dangers and side effects of MELOXICAM !! I am not posting this lightly. I believe pet owners deserve full information and the opportunity to make informed decisions before medications are started. MAXIMUS DIDn't have to die this way !!! My 4 pounds chihuahua Maximus only 9 years old.. small dogs are know to live to 15-20 years... Shortened my dog's life instead of extending it. We have just about finished the treatments, and it is like we have a totally different cat. Even before getting sick, Mitch was not one to seek attention, he was happy to do his own thing.
