Per my previous review, I would like to add the following, if not already described: We had experienced issues (arc faults) and repeated calls for service went unanswered. We ended up going to another solar company out of Olympia to get these issues addressed. We knew once the other company touched the system it would null and void any service agreement with Universal Electric PNW. Long story short, the new company is currently on the roof reinstalling the L brackets and rails as they were not installed to manufacturer requirements (tile roof, tiles not ground flat) and rewiring the whole system at an out-of-pocket cost to us. I signed a contract with Universal Electric P&W in June 2024 to install a solar system on my home. It was supposed to be finished by November 20, 2024. As of October 2025, nothing is installed. I've had repeated delays and now a mechanics lien (~$25,000) for materials I never received. I'm up against the December 31, 2025 deadline for federal incentives. Details of delays & issues: Over ~16 months I've been given shifting reasons: Expired business license Truck accident destroying materials City permit office staffing delays Supplier delays and blaming Puget Sound Energy (PSE) The company also told me they would try other suppliers. They gave me a couple of company names. I contacted those suppliers directly. They reported no purchase orders or material requests tied to my project and no record of engagement from the contractor for my job. A lien (~$25,000) was filed against my home for materials never delivered and that appear to be associated with a different project. I have paid $25,000 and still have no installation. If anyone else has been burned buy this company feel free to reach out. read more

Since the business owner has chosen to resort to libel in his response with me, I feel the need to address a few things. First of all, he appears to have copied and pasted his response from a complaint my mother made elsewhere. There are also a few problems with his response. Nels blocked my mother's number on May 19th. There was no request to cease contact, and I will attach proof of this. We have attempted no additional text contact with him after that, though we did call a couple of times to leave brief voicemails asking for answers to simple questions. He blocked my number the next day with a similar lack of request to cease contact. I will include proof of that. Furthermore, when you call the business number, no one ever answers. All our calls to the main "office" just go to voicemail, and the number listed on google goes to someone who doesn't work with the company anymore. I don't think anyone works at the office. I don't think there's an office at all. As far as my knowledge goes, the business mainly consists of Nels Jackson and his wife. Additionally, I would like to address the suspicious identity of "Erik H." who replied to my review. The profile photo used is identical to that of Nels Jackson as the business owner on this Yelp page as well as Nels Jackson on the company website, where he and his wife are listed as owners. This strongly suggests "Erik H." may be a pseudonym used to respond to customer complaints, which is misleading. Now that we have gotten that out of the way, I want to express concern that he has chosen to make bizarre claims that my mother and I are engaging in racism and abuse towards UEPNW rather than do something in order to sit down with us and explain what the charges are in regards to the cancelation policy outlined in the contract. These claims are not only false, but a clear attempt to deflect from our legitimate concerns. We have consistently attempted to resolve this situation respectfully and have simply asked for an itemized breakdown of cancellation charges as outlined in our contract, and a clear explanation of the refund amount owed to us. Finally, I have confirmed with the lender, PSCCU, that there is absolutely no need for Nels to "work with them" to return our funds. PSCCU's lending agreement is not with Nels Jackson. Their lending agreement is with us. Furthermore, we did not hire PSCCU to install solar, we hired Nels Jackson. I have an agreement with Nels, and I have an agreement with PSCCU. They do not have an agreement with each other. All he has to do is cut a check and apply it to our account, but I don't believe that he wants to do this. It is my fervent wish to wash my hands of this company and move on from this absolute dumpster fire of a situation, but I'm not doing that without a refund of some sort. If Nels wants to insist that we are exhibiting behaviors of abuse and racism, I would implore him to gather and present that evidence. I can prove that we *didn't* do it based on call records, call times, text messages, and emails. I have every communication I have ever made with the company, and we have made relatively few calls to the owner despite the egregious material breach of contract he has committed. I apologize to anyone who may experience distress upon reviewing his reply to me. I have reported it to Yelp and given my attorney opportunity to review it and prepare a cease and desist letter. Also, since he wanted to bring politics into it, I'd like to remind Nels Jackson that we signed our contract on 11/8/2024, which occurred *after* the results of the 2024 presidential election. If anything was brought up in regards to the current administration, it was due to concern that the 30% tax incentive could be repealed and thus we would not be able to afford the project. We are deeply frustrated by how this situation has unfolded and continue to seek a resolution in good faith. Unfortunately, Mr. Jackson's public statements have left us no choice but to pursue legal remedies, including a formal cease and desist letter written by the attorney I've been in contact with since these escalations began. We have submitted the defamatory review to Yelp for investigation. As a final note, I will include a photograph of the substandard wall patch performed during the EV charger installation--the only work completed on our property. It was incomplete, rough, and unprofessional. There is still a visible hole in the wall, and the surface is not smooth. We hope this matter can be resolved promptly and fairly. Our only goal is to move forward with integrity. I hope that Mr. Jackson is willing to do that without any further attempts at deflection and defamation. read more

We had our solar panels installed over a YEAR ago and they are still not sending energy to PSE. We have been going back and forth for 9 months about getting things resolved and there is always another excuse or cancellation or personal problem that comes up. Do NOT use this company. We are still waiting for our energy bills to have any impact. read more

On the first day of install the crew put screws through into my ceiling not realizing my roof was tongue and groove boards with no attic space. After 5 months of them allegedly trying to find someone to repair the damage they asked me to find someone and they would reimburse me. It's been 2 months since I had the repair done and I still haven't been paid and the company has ghosted me. On top of this, it took about 4 months for the system to be fully up and running from when they first started working on site. I would not recommend this company if prompt communication, a reliable timeline, and a job done right the first time are important to you. read more

It's been about a year since we signed on to this project and have been making payments on the loan for maybe 10 months. The installation hasn't even begun and the company hasn't responded to emails for the last month. The last time we heard from them was early October when Nels said he had possibly found a supplier in Yakima and would get back to us in a week or so. Nothing since and my wife reports leaving a few phone messages that also were never returned. I don't know if there is a solar panel shortage or not but that is the excuse we've been given since June. Seeing a couple of other similar reviews I would avoid this company. We don't know if we will be able to get them to cancel and return the money to the credit union and might be stuck paying hundreds a month for no product for the next few years. They drew around $20,000 and we have received zero work and seem to be getting ghosted. We are considering legal action so please find a different company to install your solar. read more

This company was contracted to install our Sol Ark and solar panels, and the work started in Dec of 23. There is still unfinished work at my house including a hole in my inside garage wall and an unrepaired driveway where they had to cut a section out to bury pipe under the drive. I have contacted them several times to get this work don with no response at all from them. I have attached their emails for reference. Hello Nels, I hope you are well. I am following up on my previous several emails about the work on our project still not being completed. You can read all the emails below in this chain to refresh your memory. I understand you have had issues with the solar company but that is not our concern. Our concern is the serious lack of follow up and follow through we have had with your company. You haven't responded to the email below that was sent May 3rd, 2024. We have been more than patient and willing to work through this with you. I still can't register my Sol-Arc with the My Sol Arc website or App. I can't sign in to the MyEnphase website or app, as it says that my account is not associated with any systems. So, this means you failed to register both systems. See screenshots below. You never gave me the owner's manuals for the systems that you installed. I still have an electrical junction box sticking out of my wall in the garage. And my driveway is still not repaired. I am guessing that by ghosting us you think that we have forgotten all about this, and by now you have forgotten all of this, and feel you don't need to worry about this. I am letting you know today that this is not going to go away, I am not going to go away, and your responsibility for this is not going to go away. We will hold you accountable for this project and the finishing of it. We do have options available to us and will start using them if we get no response to this email with a reasonable plan to remediate the situation. I am expecting a timely response with a written plan to this email to address my concerns. I am giving you 2 weeks from today 07/09/2024 to address this issue. Friendly, Knowledgable and Quality team I had been looking at getting a solar + battery system in my house for a few years. I talked to about 5 installers during this time and didn't feel comfortable with any of the bids I had received and had decided I was going to subcontract out the work with my own design. As I was getting ready to design my system I saw that united solar was a newish company that was certified to install sol ark. I contacted united solar and they really knew the ins and outs of all the technical aspects of solar. They were very friendly and spent a lot of time ensuring that I understood how the system would function so that I would not be disappointed - including but not limited to discussing how it would work in a backup with my heat pump, water heater, and any future expansions. I settled on a sol ark 15k, a 6kW DC solar array (will later expand to 19kW through their diy assistance) and a 24kWh battery. The install got off to a rough scheduling start due to a few surprise weather incidents but the work quality is top-notch and Aslan was very helpful at keeping us updated with respect to the delays and who was going to be showing up and when. We ended up doing a change order midway through and he made it very simple. Everything passed inspection the first time and it has been operating for a month flawlessly. They have done a great job remaining in contact with me during the process and always are happy to answer my technical questions even if it requires some research. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone and would love to work with them again. read more

United Solar helped me with so much more than Solar. We are updating our new home (new to us at least, lol) and needed a new breaker box, new wiring, new lighting, and I wanted solar too. United Solar completed the solar project with a Span smart panel installation with their installation partner who also provided all the other electric and wiring work I needed. I was having a hard time finding an electrician that would even show up for an estimate before and the ones that did were nuts on the price I talked to United Solar and had their guys do the inside work that needed to get done, and now my home remodel is almost complete and the solar is producing. Would 100% recommend United Solar especially if you have more home remodeling needs than just solar. read more

We hired United Solar to re-roof our house. Because we had solar installed previously this meant having to first remove the existing solar panels and then replace them after the roof was finished. We chose United Solar because they could accommodate both tasks as well as the coordination. They were accurate to their estimate and able to fit us in quickly. When it came time to replace the solar panels, they recommended a new configuration they thought would improve our energy production. We appreciate the tip. So far so good! read more
