As of February 8, 2025 I took my 13-year-old son into kingdom Cuts located at (3045 Walton Blvd.,…read moreAuburn Hills, MI 48326) for an authentic barber experience... Immediately walking in we were turned down, the three gentlemen their, two were cutting hair though the other barber guy who might have been the owner, was sitting in the first chair on his phone & proceeded to ask how can I help you, where I replied my son would like an authentic barbershop haircut and immediately we were told by the gentleman, they only take appointments, THOUGH on the website, it clearly shows WALK-INS welcome and the thing is my wife called & they stated that they were open for walk-ins that day... By NO MEANS am I racist but my son & I are white & the barbershop we took our son to were black, mind you, I knew going into choosing this barbershop that it may be more towards a certain nationality from the photos provided by Google maps but any ways... Two out of the three chairs were taken up by two customers while the other guy sat playing on his phone there were no other customers... All three barbers were black & the customers were also black... All three barbers told us the same thing, either we're busy or we only take appointments & I had a feeling that after that reply, we weren't welcome there... Part of me was saddened & let down & it doesn't matter where you live but knowing that in this area it's mixed, with middle-class residence & the disappointment from my son, knowing that racism might have been a big factor... They had a smug (we don't want you here) look & audible demeanor & we where told by the barber who was sitting in the chair with his phone that we had openings for next week... Another barber said "yeah, schedule one week from now" I replied I'm sorry, we're not in this general area all the time & was told "ah man" I said in a upbeat chipper kinda demeanor "I just wanted my son to have an authentic barber cut my sons hair by professionals" & and was told with a slight aggressive tone "excuse me" so I had to repeat myself in a calm, relaxed tone the exact same thing I said, the Barber then said "Oh, yeah, we only take appointments & schedule next week" I said thank you, please have a wonderful rest of the day and left with my son. During this small ordeal, our demeanor was calm, part of me felt like I couldn't believe that this was happening, but there was nothing we could do at that moment but leave with our heads down confused & let down... With our vehicle parked right in front of their business, while sitting in the vehicle for 10 minutes, trying to find another barbershop the Barber that was sitting in the chair was still on his phone & they only had one customer leave. Within that 10 minutes, one more customer walked in while being assisted by the other barber who was just done cutting the other guys hair... Mind You the possible owner was sitting in the chair on his phone, smiling, while the other two barbers continue to cut here... I understand that a business owner can turn down business anytime in some cases, but to turn down business because of a person's color is mind blowing & too let down a young man who just wanted a hair cut, I never thought a persons color would play a factor... Still in 2025 it's unbelievable how people are still racist, so my son who's 13 just learned something that day, which says a lot.... Everyone needs to understand that being a good person plays the biggest factor regardless of what race you are or what religion you are in this world, the people you love who are blood can hurt you horribly & let you down sometimes & disappoint you so, it doesn't matter what color or religion you are, it's who you are inside, how caring of a person you are & all those other positive qualities! In this world, there are ignorant people & it's not all flowers & candy & that yes there are people that still hate & that's something I don't teach! We did find a salon, a half a mile down the street who did an incredible job with our son's hair "Salon 35" which on their window states walk-ins welcome! (248) 377-9650 For this post though that I posted it's mostly rhetorical and I hope that my review doesn't confuse people who are sensitive and offended... At no means at all do I want to offend, but I had to express my experience with that business that we dealt with... I am almost 40 & my heritage is mostly Irish, Polish, French Canadian, Swedish & I grew up in a big family of 10, with my parents still married after 50 years... Over my years, I've learned about politics, but I also learned what it means on how to be diplomatic, being diplomatic means seeing both views & understanding that everyone has an opinion & their own feelings, but that were all equal... I hope the barbers that we dealt with grow and learn to hate less and understand there's a lot more out in this world that's beautiful...

Two people were sitting waiting while the third barber was cutting. I was greeted upon entering the building said I called ahead and they told me they don't take walk-ins and I need to set up an appointment online I then said I called ahead and was told to come up if I called ahead that should be my appointment if you didn't want to take my name down that's on you, but you told me to come absolutely horrible vibe horrible service horrible all around experience and was only there for less than five minutes I'm surprise they're still in business.

Taylor, this ones for you…read more I wore a mask and they told me I didn't need it. I had long hair that I loved and asked for a scissors only trim but she decided to "even me out" and use trimmers which was her "first time trying it out" I persisted that I only wanted a light trim but she pushed that I keep cutting, at one point I had a mullet. She brought the clippers out and while I was distracted talking to the other stylist she shaved the back of my head and said "I just went for it, I hope you don't mind" ... She then got the other stylist involved to try and help her hack job, and I was "reassured" that it "looked great" while they traded looks that it wasn't. she washed, shampoo'd and conditioned my hair, blew dry, added product, then took me back and repeated the process a second time...no idea what for. She knew she had messed up , and kept apologizing , all I heard was an empty "sorry" every 5 minutes. It looked like she kept trying to fix it, but kept making it worse. she didn't dare show me the back. 3/4 of the way through an hour long hair cut that should've taken 15 minutes, it looked like she had gave up and got upset that she screwed up, to the point where I was trying to cheer her up about her awful haircut. by the end, she looked like she had no remorse for destroying my hair, she didn't hear any of my requests. "it's okay, give it 3 months and it will grow back" is what she told me If I wanted a buzz cut, I would've done it myself and saved the 30 dollars. she buzzed the sides and kept the top long, imo the worst possible outcome. hardly blended it in. after the whole thing was finished she took my apron off and sprayed me with product that got all over me. very unprofessional. if anyone has suggestions for hair growth supplements, let me know don't get your hair cut from here, they don't listen to you, don't go to Taylor. Worst haircut of my life, Taylor if you're reading this, go back to school and try again, I would say that to your face but I couldn't stand coming near you or this shop ever again. there's no excuse for this, this was unacceptable.
