Horrible customer service. I had put in an order for 4 jackets to be embrodered and 12 t -shirts to be screen shot. I had placed the order on 11/25/25. I just recently received news that my order would be available for pick up on 1/16/25. This has almost been two months! I did receive feedback after I expressed that I would not be paying for this order due to the time involved. I am including their response. After reviewing their email there is no actual customer service, meaning no "How can we make this better, we can give a discount for the time it took" etc. Just sorry it took so long. I will never refer this company out again. Here is their response: I apologize that you have issues with our turnaround time. I do want to note that it was Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. Production warehouses, our screening team, and our store are all closed for various days through out those weeks due to the stated holidays, which in turn delays the turn around time. It was not relayed to me that these were Christmas gifts. If that had been made known to me, I would have done my best to accommodate your request. Our standard turnaround time for ALL screened products is about 6 weeks. This is for all of our departments that place orders with us through out the year. We're sorry to hear that you found a new vendor, but we understand that we cannot meet the demands you are looking for. The store has been updated and feels warm and welcoming, she has brought back some old faces who help make the store. Universal Police Supply is a local resource for LEO (law enforcement officers), security guys, etc to get their gear from. There are online places but UPSco seems to have everything you'd need and they're local and as cheap if not cheaper than most online places. Duty clothes and boots that are good for any rugged job, tactical knives, flashlights, holsters and gear bags - they've got all that stuff and more. They do alterations and tailoring and I'm pretty sure they can do the embroidery and screen printing stuff in-house as well. Good place and the only one locally to get the high quality products and brand names. read more

They have a great selection of holsters and mag pouches, which was exactly what I needed when I couldn't find a proper duty holster in-store anywhere else. The only downside I would note is that the holster was almost $50 more than what I could find online, and that's without tax. I'm not sure if the price would've been the same at any other brick-and-mortar shop. I understand the convenience of carrying it in-store, but I don't think that convenience is worth an extra $50. read more

The girl said she could order them, but when I'm not sure my exact size in that boot and want to try them in first I don't want to have to order them.... I have dealt with this shop over a couple years now, they have a great selection in stock at all times and have very fair pricing. The only problem I have with them is that the staff over promises on time frames to complete embroidery work in order to get your money. They then get mad at you when you call a week after a deadline they gave, as if I have no right to ask for specifics on new completion time. Although they seem to be good people they have no issue with telling non LEO's that their business just isn't that important and will treat you as such once they have your money. So it's worth it to buy and walk out with inventory in hand, just be careful if having custom work done. Update..... After learning of the problems I was having with this custom work Pete became involved and has really speed up the process as well as keep in contact with me about what is happening. I appreciate this and feel that they are making good on their promises to us and deserve a better rating in return. Thank you Pete. If you're in law enforcement you likely already know about Universal Police Supply, they've been around for quite some time and have just about everything you could need for your typical shift. Dress shirts, clip on ties, boots, flashlights, all of the standard issue type stuff that you don't need special permission to buy. The prices are completely fair and the staff is very helpful but can be gruelingly slow, that's mostly what the three stars is about. Once they begin helping a customer it's as if the rest of the world has disappeared, wonderful for whoever is being helped, but awful for me, standing in line for twenty six minutes to buy some shoelaces. I wholly support Universal Police Supply and will continue going here as long as my career necessitates it, but don't even think of stopping if you're in a hurry, better to have scuffed boots than be an hour late. read more

My wife found this place on the web. I had never heard of it but she said that they had the boots that she wanted and for a less than we usually pay. They have a great selection of gear and their prices are in line with just about everyone else. I will definitely go back when I need something. read more

At first, I was extremely excited to find this store. It is a bit out of the way, but it is well lit and stocked, and the staff at the counter was friendly and helpful. This is where my positive experience ended. I went in for some uniform pants, and told them I would need them by next week. They were good about this, so I paid for the pants and they put them on order. This was Monday. By Friday I called to check on them to see if they were in, because I needed them the following Monday. I was sorely informed that the pants were on backorder until more than two months from now, but no one ever called! I had to purchase them elsewhere. Next was the name plate. Without realizing that they were department issued, I ordered two of them. One of which would be available in less than a week, and other that took a few weeks. One week later, I called only to find out that the "less than a week" plate was not available in the requested color, so they just went ahead and changed my order to two of the other plates. Needless to say, I didn't get the name plates in time. I spoke with someone who identified himself as Keith Wagner, who may very well be the owner of the store. Mr. Wagner was exceptionally rude, extremely condescending, and had an overall "that is not my problem" attitude. A few weeks later, I called to check on other pants. Same thing, Mr. Wagner was there. As it turns out, these other pants showed up almost 3 weeks prior, but no one had called. I informed him that I had purchased these pants elsewhere and the response I received was similar to "you ordered them, so they're yours, and that's not my concern". With the combination of these horribly poor experiences, I will probably never visit this location again, and I will make sure that none of my associates do either so they do not suffer the same consequences that I have. read more

Not only is the staff rude, but if you return something, they'll call you a liar and say you wore it, and will try refusing the return. I went to the store last week to order an outer carrier. I was told by an employee that I have worked with there for many years to bring in my vest, and she would take care of it. I returned today and asked for that employee. The man behind the counter said: "I am the owner. How can I help you?" with a less than friendly tone. I replied, a little surprised by his attitude that I had spoken to his employee the week before, and wanted to know if she was in. He told me: "She is. What do you want". Not really wanting to repeat my whole story from the week before, I said I needed a carrier for my vest, and he replied: "So, you want us to custom make one for you?" He could not have said it any more condescending or negatively. He had this look of utter distain on his face when he looked at me, and at that point I realized he did not want my business, and I left. After many years of doing business there, I will NEVER return, and will recommend my several hundred employees to go elsewhere, as well. As a business owner myself, I would never treat a customer like that. It takes years to earn a customer and seconds to lose one. That "owner" might want to remember that. read more

I ordered a pair of uniform pants via internet. Per the ordering instructions, I specified the inseam measurement for the pants to be finished. A few weeks later, I received the pants ... unfinished. I tried to contact Universal via their website four different times. I never received a reply. I called them by telephone and spoke to "Pete", who projects a "couldn't care less" attitude. What do you want to do about it, he asked. Oh somebody missed the request. He's been fired. Just take it to a tailor and have them finished. "Pete" talked to like he just wanted me to shut up and go away. I told him he came across like a smart-ass, so he hung up. My advice ... do not patronize this store. read more

I was recommended here by a few officers in my department after expressing interest in getting my own external vest. I went into the store and was met by a very helpful employee who helped me find the perfect vest for my needs. I paid for the vest and was told it would be 4-6 weeks, which I anticipated ahead of time. I received a phone call today telling me my vest was ready for pickup. They stayed right in their window of time, at just under 4.5 weeks, which is great!I picked up the vest this afternoon, and noticed that they ordered me the correct size vest, but the iteration with molle, rather than the flat model with pouches sewed on. All in all, it isn't a big deal, my department thankfully allows molle to be worn. I really would rather avoid waiting another 4 weeks for the correct vest, so I'll be keeping this one and adding the pouches I need to the molle. I ordered the Armor Express OCS carrier and the finish is perfect, the fit is snug with room to breathe. I chalk this up to an honest mistake and will be doing business with Universal in the future. read more
