Went there looking for some old school gear (ALICE) and they have a good selection of old and new. Staff was eager to help me out, and I got a few things specific to my old unit (patches and pins). They had some pretty good deals if you look. She took my name and number and gave me a call when they got in. I went here with a buddy a mine to check the place out and the store was pretty great. The staff were super nice and funny, helping us with our questions. Great selection of new and surplus gear like clothing, ammo pouches, and memorabilia. Some items are a bit pricey though, like the Jerry cans and boots but there are some cheaper ones like MREs and smoke bombs, which is what I got. Overall, really great place. Half of the store appears to be devoted to clothing and accessories such as boots and hats, with even a single rack for kids clothes in the back of the store (You know you've always wanted a tactical themed onesie for your tyke). The other half of the store focuses on survival gear, military themed items, and defensive gear. Some examples include MREs, portable water purifiers, various stun guns, military pins, and compasses. This has been the first surplus store I've been too. It is relatively small mainly containing gear from the 80s to present days. So don't expect finding anything from Vietnam or WW2. Facility is very clean and organized. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Prices are PHENOMENAL compared to other surplus stores I've been to. One time I found a used UCP camo jacket for $7 which was a STEAL OF A DEAL. Prices do very on condition and size. I personally it's a great store for buying tactical gear. read more

Buyer beware. Potentially dangerous MREs The store is pretty well organized and they have a fairly decent selection of gear. The staff was both welcoming and helpful even though I came in pretty close to closing time. My complaint is about the MREs they're selling there. I purchased a case of SOPAKCO reduced sodium MREs which were on display. This case is marked 7258 9/20. I was led to believe this was a fairly new case and that 9/20 was a packing date. It turns out this is not correct. I opened the case when I got home and tested one of the individually packed meals. I was concerned when the MRE heater did not work at all and the Pop Tart packaging was brittle. Assuming this was a manufacture defect I contacted SOPAKCO directly. The customer service representative stated that the 9/20 was actually an inspection date and informed me on the history and chain of custody of this particular case of MREs. The SOPAKCO rep stated that all cases marked with a four digit number beginning with a seven followed by a date of 9\20 were packed in 2017 to fulfill an order for a "Federal Agency". This order would be used in disaster and emergency relief operations. Therefore these cases most likely seen extreme temperature differences and were stored improperly. These cases would later be sold at auction as surplus. I have yet to resolve this issue with the store. Stand by of updates. read more

Even rhough you're having a bad day, feel free to check the attitude. I asked how long a military tape could be made, because I see multiple sizes back there. Me: How long can name tapes be made? CrustyLady: Standard military size. Young Dude Running Name Tape Machine: (holds up a name tape he's just finished). Me: How long is that? CL: There are five people ahead of you. Me: So they are five people long? CL: Standard military size. Me: Which is how long? CL: Eight and a half inches. Me: Thanks, that was my question in the first place. I'll find them somewhere else. The selection is nice in terms of gear. If you consider the accessories, patches and stickers, it seems they're gearing that more toward the Vietnam era guys. Very little stuff in terms of OIF/OEF options, heck there's more for Desert Storm and that's one of the shortest wars in American history. Also, the kid at the front desk is a loud mouth who didn't even know what OEF meant. I'm keeping my three star review because I like your selection and your prices are solid, but the kid at the front desk literally talks way too much and comes off as a nutcase. Other gripe: the rebel flag is a symbol of treason and it really makes no sense in Arizona, let's carry less of that bs. read more

So I had this idea for a Halloween costume that would be a parody on past military dictators. I did a bit of research on line but i really wanted to see some old uniforms (utilities) so i decided to swing down to Allied Surplus to see what they had. Wow. They have pretty much everything! Rows upon rows of new and used BDU's from Desert Storm to now. I WAS looking for my old Olive drab fatigues but i guess that was pushing the timrline back a bit too far. (40 plus years) But i did find some desert camos that fit so i picked up a set. While i was searching, i met one of the shop managers (owner maybe?) And we chatted about some past experiences. I decided that I wanted a set of ribbons from my prior services days. He dug through some boxes and put together a rack with one award missing. It was for a marksmanship award so I said, hey no worries. But he dig around some more and went to a wall display and low and behold! Found the marksmanship ribbon to make my full rack of ribbons. Now, I'm not sure if it was the conversation, the awards or just my fatigue after a long day at work, but the smells, the sight of the ribbons and the presence of all the military paraphernalia shot me back in time more than 47 years ago, standing on the ramp at Tan Son Nhat Air base in the Republic of Vietnam. The feels!! Wow. I drifted away from the counter for a few minutes and when I shook my head to clear it, he was standing there with a smile and a nod. Allied Surplus is just a few blocks south of downtown Mesa on Mesa and Broadway. But today, it was thousands of miles away in a country that still comes back to fill my thoughts with pride, doubt and sadness. Thank you and welcome home. read more

Service is friendly and they have a nice selection of militaria and prepper stuff besides stickers and pins. Some things they do not have can be ordered if not in stock. I have been waiting to go back through AZ to post my review of this store. I went in on my way to my first military training ever. I thought Id show up with my gear. I came here and gave them my list of stuff I needed. What I didnt know at the time was that I left with the wrong PT shirts. I also didnt know they charged the same price for their used ACUs as Ft Benning did for new ones. They were of no help with my boots either. They didnt explain the difference at all. I bought some crappy winter boots for summer in Georgia. I spent over $400 on my gear there. A lot of it is useless now (like the boots and PT shirts). Now Im heading to a mobilization at Ft Hood and wanted to make sure this business knows that they were awful with their recommendations. I suggest staying away from this place. I spent about $150 on useless gear and about $200 on used gear I could've purchased new for the same price. read more

Ever since covid-19 started and all of the protests, I have been doing a lot of prepping. I remember the last time I did this was for Y2K. I spent a lot of time and money at Larada's, unfortunately they are no longer in business. So I started looking around for another place similar to Larada's and found Allied Surplus in Mesa. I was really excited about going there and seeing what I could find. Everything changed for me when I walked in. The first thing I noticed was that both ladies that were working, were not wearing face coverings. I could not believe what I saw. I left three minutes later. I just don't understand why they would work at a business were the public comes in to shop and not do their best to protect themselves and their customers during this pandemic. I do believe face coverings are required in Maricopa county and in the City of Mesa. On top of that, I was not greeted nor was I offered any help, both ladies walked past me and did not even acknowledge me. Based on my experience today. I will not be returning. Just to risky for me. I gave them one star for safety and not providing me any customer service. read more

Huge Surplus Store With An Awesome Mastiff! I came in for a hat, left with 2... Tons of uniforms and other surplus items... Ammo boxes are pretty expensive here. The 5.11 Tactical area was pretty cleaned out and half barren. They have a company dog that is about a year and a half of Mastiff who is pretty cool and I just wanted to play with him and take him home! read more

We tried to shop for pants, but the dog wouldn't leave us alone. The staff didn't do anything to control the dog. The dog was following us but then it wanted to play and was jumping on me and my four-year-old son. It nearly knocked him down and tried to take his drink. Stock of cargo pants/511 pants was in complete disarray. I don't know what's going on but looks like things are slipping. read more

They have a lot of wonderful stuff here for the military. Prices seem reasonable and it's quality products from what I can tell. My husband came here because he wanted some military boots for hiking. He simply loves his boots. Our son, daughter, and nephew got personalized dog tags. And they have a really great patch selection, as well as different types of boots, shoes, military wear, and different kinds of packs. They have other stuff, but I don't remember. read more

I've been here one time, and I had a great experience. I was taking a weekend trip to Jerome on a motorcycle, and was in need of a military duffel (luggage marketed as motorcycle accessories sell upward of $100 and look exactly like military supply). I knew I wanted the backpack style duffel, and was guided to their location directly after walking inside. Once I saw their stock, I was able to find two huge bins of the style I wanted in used condition. Not only did the used stock look way rad, but they were priced at $19.50 (11 bucks cheaper than new condition). Don't get me wrong, this place doesn't have everything (didnt see much camping supply or survival/defense literature). My favorite is still The Miller's Surplus in Tucson, AZ. But, considering I live in the valley, this was the next best thing. I found what I needed in less than five minutes under my anticipated budget. Will be returning. read more

I just wanted to give the best possible review of an employee. There was a man in need today without shoes and I wanted to help him out. I took him to the store and before I could even fully explain myself, Matt jumped in and ran the show. He grabbed some fresh socks and some spares and the shoes that would fit his feet. Great little place. Selection is not the best with sizes, but if they have your size, great. Only thing lacking is the military attention to detail as I purchased some tactical gloves and I had to find a store that can remove the magnet in because the clerk at Allied did not take it off. Great place for tactical gear: boots, uniforms, patches, backpacks, vests, etc. However, they have a much smaller selection of camping items and very little survival supplies. The store is more suited towards uniforms and accessories, for the rest I went to Bass Pro Shop. read more
