I came by because a piece of my flash guard was loose and flopping at the bottom of my car. I asked for help and they resolved my issue in like 15 minutes. They were so kind and generous with their service. I've been to several Woodie's around Charlotte and Huntersville and I'm always so pleased with the service I receive. I don't know much about cars and I think that's pretty obvious when I come in. Despite that, I've never felt like they're trying to upsell me or take advantage of my naïveté. TURN AROUND! Don't go to any of these locations. I sent my wife here when having engine trouble and they said they "fixed" the issue after $1400. Two days later same issue occurred so they towed it back to keep it overnight end never found the issue but said it was fine.... two days ago, the EXACT issue happened again... exactly 2 weeks from the second time they had her car.. got it towed to a Toyota dealership and the part that needed to get fixed was nothing they mentioned and cost a fraction of what they charged! This place is just a money grab. Voicing our opinion to some friends they had the same experience as we did and never fixed the root issue. Do not bring your vehicle here. If that's all you take from this review let it be that. I took my girlfriend's car for an alignment after I replaced the suspension (I am a certified mechanic) and when looking at the "recommended" services it included the engine air filter. When I looked at it myself I noticed that the tech had snapped the plastic off the box. I took the car back and pointed this out and after the manager called the tech to look at it the tech had the audacity to claim that "it was broken before it came in" I know this was not the case because I worked on the car the day of, and would have 100% noticed. Not only that, but you could see the bright white shiny filter through the crack he had just made. So the tech blatantly lied about that, and also lied about having checked the cabin air filter, because I had just replaced it a couple weeks prior and know that in no way did he take the time to check and just marked it as "urgent!" The shop did agree to replace the box, but being cheap did not do so with a new OEM Toyota part but instead bought a used and had the same tech install it and he broke this part too. Then tried to blame Toyota for making a cheap part. I know how this business goes, and know that these guys pray on customers who don't know anything about their car. If I had not called them out, my girlfriend would never have known that they broke her car (they also tried coming up with some bs about this not affecting anything). As seen in the attached picture that gap goes into the engine and they're out here saying "there's a screen that catches anything". I would be very cautious about using this mechanic service for anything other than an oil change. I had a check engine light issue and their diagnostics indicated low compression on #3 cylinder, their recommendation was replace the engine. I ended up taking my Audi Q5 to a Import specialist and they indicated the issue was a bad fuel injector. They were able to take care of the repair in short order. They also told me that previous work done by Woodies wasn't done correctly and they had to do it over. They talk about their quality of service and their ASE certified mechanics and their belief in Customer Service and treating you like family. That was not my experience. read more

On Saturday morning March 29, I woke up with a nail/piece of metal in my tire. The PSI was very low and I was driving from Shelby NC to Charlotte and was worried I would not make it to my Charlotte house on that tire. I stopped by the Ashley Rd location as soon as I hit the city limits, and they could not have been nicer or more helpful. My daughter had a lacrosse tournament in Charlotte this past weekend and my mom was flying in from Cleveland to surprise her and her sister. I was on my way to pick up my mom at Charlotte Douglas airport when my low pressure light came on just 3 miles from the airport exit. As I switched over to the pressure screen I was watching the pressure drop about every minute. I looked up the closest repair shop and it was Woodie's. I alerted my mom to our situation especially when I saw one of the employees walk in with lunch for everyone. But I couldn't have been more wrong on assuming they'd make me wait all day. One of the employees worked through lunch to see if he could patch my tire. Unfortunately, I had a screw in the side wall so it could not be plugged. Woodies staff located me a replacement tire and almost immediately another employee jumped in the company van and went and got my tire! All said and done I was out of there in less than two hours. What an amazing staff going above and beyond for an out of town customer that they will probably never see again! They were up front with labor cost and everyone was extremely professional. I almost really enjoyed the flat tire experience with them. Almost.... In an era where customer service is usually an afterthought, Woodies treated me like a member of the family or a long time customer! Great job Woodies! You're lucky to have them Charlotte! read more

We were 400 miles from home when our car's brake warning light came on. It was a Sunday, so first thing Monday we went to the Woodies in Matthews. Although they had a full slate of cars to work on, Jeff, the manager on duty, said they'd look at ours as soon as they could. In the meantime, the shuttle took us to a nearby restaurant so we could have breakfast and wait in comfortable surroundings. The repair -- new brake pads and rotors, plus a new battery -- was finished by 12:30 and we were back on the road. We were very impressed with the courtesy extended to us. Hopefully, our car will never break down in Charlotte again, but if it does, we'll know where to go. read more

Reliable and knowledgeable about their services. Woodie's charges a bit more and their price is higher than most shops, but Woodie's doesn't oversell and does fantastic work on what needs to be done. I was having trouble with my brakes and took my car to FOUR Charlotte auto shops last month that couldn't detect the problem I was having. All of the shops told me my brakes were fine despite the noise I was hearing. Woodie's team was able to find the problem immediately and fixed it within a few hours. I had a long distance trip approaching and my car would have definitely not made it if it wasn't for Woodie's detecting the repair that was needed. Patrick was very thorough and informative about the situation and made sure I was able to understand everything happening. My car feels as good as new! read more

This place is such a rip off.. I went in to get a diagnostic on my car. My car was just acting like it had bad gas. So I took it in. They kept my car 7 hours to tell me it needed a mass flow sensor. With a bill of 764.00 and could not even prove that I even needed it. I asked for the diagnostic report and they said they can't give me that . That the machine don't print them out? What? I find that out after I let them fix it trusting they could prove it..They can't even prove to me that my car even needed it. Now my car is running worse then it was. The staff at Woodie's will fix your car. But they will do it with a condescending attitude, treating you like an idiot the entire time. They will yell at you. They will berate you for attempting your own repairs. They will badmouth every other shop in town and any other parts available through any other retailer, even if they bear exactly the same label as the ones they're selling you, at a 30 percent markup. Any attempt to question their prices or attitude will just make things worse. Skip it. They told me they didn't mind losing my business, so clearly they don't need yours. Dropped my car off this morning for some basic work. Needed to get an e-brake adjustment, and inspection. From the moment I first called I knew this was going to be a good experience. Very polite and helpful on the phone, answering questions and even giving me an estimate (a lot of places won't). Dropped it off at about 7:45 am, both guys at the front were very polite, and we chatted for a few. In and out in about 5 min. I just got a call (about 2 hours later) My car is totally done, ready to pick up. Priced less then the estimate. And then here comes the part I hate, what else is wrong with my car, and what are you going to try and charge me for?? Didn't get that at all this time, my service tech let me know about a loose bearing that should be looked at soon, but I never felt that he was actually trying to sell me. Just a suggestion, and he even said he will have a print out of the work the car "should" have done. But never once did I feel pressured. That alone makes me want to bring my car back here to get that work done.....when I have the $$ Thanks Woodies, will be back! read more

I have walked away without saying a word from the rude behavior of Bobby at the South McDowell Woody's on two previous occasions. But today, I was calling to make a routine oil change and state inspection appointment. Three times he answered and just hung up on me. When I did get a response he argued with me that he did not hear anyone on the other end of the call. His hearing or not hearing was not the point. There was no apology or acceptance of any kind of responsibility. I will never go back to that location and will be looking elsewhere for my auto needs if this behavior continues. Woodie's is great. Car died, thought it was the battery, jumped it and then got the "Check engine, charging issue" so I assumed alternator. So I called them to see if they could do an alternator and squeeze me in. Yep, same day service. I take it in. Later that day, I get a call, they ran the diagnostics, go 16 different codes and told me there is no way the car had all those problems they think the car sat too long (COVID not driving....) and to just charge the battery, reset the check engine light and charged me $50 and I was off. Such a better experience than when I take it to the dealership. read more

As long as I stay in Charlotte, I will always take my car to the Charlottetowne Ave Woodie's. They do great work on my car at a fair price, and they always take the time to explain my car's maintenance needs. They are honest with me about what needs to be done right away versus what can wait, which I really appreciate. Most of the time they say it's okay to wait, but they price it for me so that I can be prepared for when it is time to do it down the road. They do get very busy as they service TONS of cars, so I would recommend making an appointment instead of just walking in. I've always felt I've been treated very well by management, not sure what some of the negative reviews are talking about. read more

Quick story...Coming to work uptown on Randolph Road..Get pass the Mint Museum and my drivers windshield wiper blade flies off. It is pouring and I can't see the lines on the road with cars coming at me 40 mph. I pulled into the Novant's parking lot and tried to take the passenger one off and swap them. Did not work...it was still raining but I made it down to Woodies Auto. Jeff Selk was just opening for the day and was not open yet fully for business. I explained the situation and he jump right on replacing the wiper blades in the rain. While I waited I had a great conversation with James a native Charlottean. I don't know what happened there but Jeff was more than polite, went beyond my expectations and has a calm pleasant demeanor, I can't imagine him raising his voice nevermind yelling. Anyway, repairs were competitively priced, timely (everything done in 1 day despite being very busy), accomodated my work schedule and provided me with a ride multiple times. Came to the Charlottetown location thinking my ignition switch was going bad. Come to find out there was nothing wrong with it, was just the result of the steering wheel being a locked. Being a female and all, I do not know the first thing about car repairs and could've easily been swindled to make a payment for something that wasn't broken. However, they were honest with me and it was so nice feeling like I could trust them and not be taken advantage of. Steve was incredible! I was SO impressed by his honesty and the outstanding customer service provided. I HIGHLY recommend this place! Especially to those (like myself) who often worry whenever a car repair is needed, you may get taken advantage of due to not knowing the first thing about cars. These guys are not to be trusted. My college student took his car there for rear brakes, was told he needed new rotors, front and back, $1000. He told them no, just replace the rear pads. They refused to do the work. Took it to a reputable shop in Lake Wylie, surprise, rotors didn't even need to be turned, front pads still had 5MM of wear on them. $160 out the door. These people should be ashamed trying to take advantage of students under the guise of safety. They are nothing but thieves. Stay away. read more

My car broke down during rush hour on a Wednesday. I called Woodie's after reading reviews to have my car serviced. Randy called a towing company for me and let me know what needed to be done with my car the next morning, since it was nearly 5pm when I called. They handled all of my repairs needed, and when they had an issue with a part in the afternoon on Thursday, they ensured that I would have my car by 3pm on Friday. When my car was finished, Randy personally picked me up to bring me to my car, and then introduced me to the mechanic that did all of my repairs. Prices are very reasonable, especially for foreign cars, like my Honda. They handled everything very professionally and in a timely manner. I can't say enough good things about their team. read more

LADIES BEWARE!!!!! My car was leaking coolant from the reservoir-I stopped in at Woody's on Carmel Road one morning before work to drop it off. Their drop off driver took me to work-by the time I got to work (less than 20 minutes later) there was a voice mail from the Volvo (technician) telling me that I needed a new radiator and it would be about $1200. My colleague at work told me that was ridiculous and that I should go get the car. I called the so called Volvo technician and told him not to do anything to my car-I wanted to get another opinion. He told me to check around and get back to him and he might be able to give me a better deal I am a single female in Charlotte and I don't have time nor means nor back up support for this-when I seek out service, I expect to be treated fairly and honestly from the beginning. I took my car to a mechanic someone at work recommended-he told me there was no way Woodies could know if I needed a new radiator before the leak in the reservoir was repaired. He repaired the reservoir and unfortunately I still needed a radiator-but he was able to repair both for less than $700! To add insult to injury-when I went to Woodies to pick up my car, they charged me a $50 diagnostic fee-they hadn't even looked at my car!!!!!!! read more

Requested the cheapest generic MAF sensor, as it is an old car that I plan to get rid of in the near future, and got the most expensive one. I am a 30'ish yr-old female. I went to Woodie's at 5:45pm on a Thursday evening with an almost-flat tire. The tire was not punctured, it just needed some air. I informed the employee at Woodie's that the nearby gas station air pump was out and that I needed to get some air in my tire before it got dark (during Winter, that's around 6pm). The man told me that he was doing some paperwork and could not assist me. Excuse me?!? You don't close until 6pm and it's only 5:45pm. Further, I am a woman with a flat tire and it's about to get dark! WOW! I was shocked at the poor customer service and the lack of concern for the safety of a potential customer. Today April 14 2022 was the absolute BEST expereince I've ever had with an Auto Repair Shop in 40 Years! Jeff Selk is simply AMAZING!! From the first time I called him early this morning to the last time I spoke with him later this evening he was just as nice and professional and courteous and knowledgeable and helpful as anyone I've ever met. He treated me like I was the only one in the shop each time I called even though they are booked out a week in advance and he honestly really did not have time to talk to me, but he gave me all the time I needed each time I spoke with him and even let me vent about my own persoanl strife with my vehicle that I was getting repaired. He is an amazing man and it's no surprise he is a Scout Leader in the Charlotte Community because his patience and understanding is unparallelled. Best place to take your car in for service. They have a free shuttle service. They have always quickly scheduled an appointment for me when I call. They are friendly and informative. I'm a single female and its been the best car service I've ever received - I've never felt pressure to buy anything extra or felt like they were talking over my head. I recommend them to anyone.
