I brought my diesel truck to Liberty GMC for what was clearly an air leak in the turbo system. From the start, I was told there would be a $180 diagnostic fee to identify the issue -- which I agreed to. After two days, they came back saying I needed a new fuel filter and mass airflow sensor for $750. I immediately told them this was not the issue, since the MAF code was triggered because of the air leak, not the cause of it. I even provided videos showing the exact noise. A week later, they claimed the sound was caused by the hood intake grate and cited a TSB -- but that TSB only applies to a whistling noise at high speeds. My noise occurs at all speeds, something they would have noticed if they'd simply taken the truck for a proper test drive. Despite all this, they kept insisting I needed a new air filter and MAF sensor -- clearly trying to sell unnecessary parts instead of actually diagnosing the problem. When I told them I'd lost confidence in their ability to work on a diesel engine and would be picking up my truck, they still charged the full diagnostic fee, even though they didn't diagnose anything correctly. To make matters worse, when I picked it up, my truck had engine coolant sprayed all down the side, which they didn't even bother to clean or explain. I would never recommend Liberty GMC to anyone needing serious mechanical work -- especially diesel owners. They wasted a week of my time, misdiagnosed the problem, and handed back my truck in worse condition than when I dropped it off. read more

I've never used this dealership for my GMC truck but due to a breakdown had it towed there for repairs. It's towed Wednesday and they confirmed receipt of vehicle, good experience so far. However, they say they can't diagnose until next day and will call me to give update. No problem with that. Thursday comes and goes with no communication. Finally get a call Friday morning that it will require new full pump. 2020 Sierra with 33k miles, separate review will be logged for GMC truck quality. I agree to repairs and they say hopefully done by end of day. Better than I expected on timing. Get call at 3pm Friday saying a module needed replacing as well, and that may prevent Friday finish but will be ready Saturday for sure, they say they will call me when finished. I rearrange my entire Saturday to be available to pick up...Saturday comes and goes with no contact. Call Monday at 1pm and ask for update, guy says no one is available and can he get my name and number and have someone call me. I state someone was supposed to call me Saturday and never did and he says he'll make sure someone calls me. 3 hours pass and I call again. After inordinate amount of holding and call bouncing back to main receptionist someone finally answers. They tell me the full pump just arrived and they will "get to it" tomorrow. So, to summarize, poor communication in terms of responding and providing updates and some blatant lies. Complete with lack of prioritizing a customer who has been misled regarding repairs. read more

If you want to experience what true customer service is, then go to Liberty Buick GMC. We bought a 2022 GMC Yukon XL SLT and there was an issue with the daytime running lights (DRLs). We contacted Liberty after absolutely horrendous service at Williams Buick GMC. Robert is the service manager and was quick to help us schedule an appointment with Kevin (Service Advisor). They diagnosed the problem, ordered the part and fixed it. Easy as that. I still haven't heard back from Williams...Not surprised though, as their service director (Zack Strickland) and service manager (Lauren Strickland) was too busy to speak to me, and the Service Advisor (Sam Gardner) didn't even know how the DRLs were supposed to work. He had to pull a Denali around to compare - what a joke :D. So do yourself a favor and drive right past Williams and on to Liberty - you won't be disappointed at all. read more

2018 Chevy Silverado 1500LT Z71-just a sad experience with these guys. I had to pay out of my own pocket $6500 for a new transmission today. The situation was unique to say the least and I feel as if the dealership should of compensated (some) of those costs. Warranty just expired on truck i believe 1500 miles ago, I brought truck in 2 months prior to this due to hard shifting an limp mode, they rescheduled back a week on me then they couldn't find issues with trans, and there were many more things that happened leading up to this. many factors at play here Which is why I say a unique situation. I would give a no star review but they get a one star because they did get the transmission put in quick. They also lowballed the trade in by $13,000 and I feel they tried that because they didn't think I had the money to pay out of pocket for the transmission. Mabe they felt like I was stuck idk. just a working theory. but it makes sense because why lowball that much from everyone else's prices. smdh (an Did I mention that I originally bought the truck from them, be careful with these guys). read more

Went to the dealership for a warranty repair. The clerk was rude and didn't not remember nor ask me about my warranty (that he told me to bring a copy of) before quoting me $4xx for a repair that was covered for $50. I asked for the manager and he took care of me. My previous visit was almost $1,000 for things I wanted done not covered. Money was not the issue, it is and will always be respect. So for that reason, it should be a 1 but the manager fixed it so I'll give it a 3 read more

I have a love-hate relationship with this place. Purchased a new car from them about 15 months ago. Love the car, but I've had it in the shop 3 times since purchasing it for repairs (twice for the same issue). The gentleman who sold the car to me was professional, knowledgeable, and not too pushy. I'm not sure I can write the same about the other members of the sales & finance team - both the sales manager (tried selling me a car on the lot without the options I wanted instead of waiting a few days until the car I really wanted was available) and the gentleman trying to sell me an extended warranty. I did not have good experiences with either of them. The service staff have all been great to me. They took the time to explain to me what the issues were, how they were going to address them, the estimated time to repair, etc..... basically managing my expectations start to finish. DO NOT HAVE THEM GIVE YOU AN OIL CHANGE OR TIRE ROTATION/BALANCE. My car was in their service shop recently for a repair (under warranty) and when they called me to tell me the work had been completed, they pointed out that I was due for an oil change and a tire rotation. Since I didn't want to make a second trip to another service station for the same work, I allowed them to complete this service (BUT I DIDN'T ASK ABOUT PRICE). I picked my car up and had a $112 bill for tire rotation and balancing and an oil change. Most firms specializing in oil changes can do the change from somewhere between $20 - $40 depending on the type of oil. Tire rotations, in my experience, are free if you get your tires rotated at the same place you bought the tires. In this case, I got my tires rotated at the same place I purchased an entire brand new car and got jacked on the rotation! Be warned. read more

When driving up here from Atlanta for a family emergency, my car wouldn't start and I started having all sorts of electrical issues, I brought it on to Liberty Buick. I had so much anxiety about how much this electrical issue was going to cost and how I just could not take one more issue. The guy popped the hood, took a look at the battery and found it wasn't secured so it was shifting out every time it moved. Within minutes he had it tightened and back to brand new. This was totally the Christmas miracle I needed today and such a super nice guy to just take care of it on the spot. If I could give negative stars I would. My husband scheduled an appointment for me to take his 2009 GMC Sierra 2500 diesel truck to "Scott McCorkle's Liberty GMC". The check engine light was on and another warning would come on and off saying "reduced engine power". My husband knew it was something to do with the turbo, but it could be a number of things so he wanted it professionally diagnosed before deciding how to proceed. When I checked in they said it'd be at least 4 hours..... 45 minutes later they said I needed a new turbo, it would cost over $5,000. My husband wanted to talk to the mechanic to ask a couple questions before proceeding with such an expensive repair, the staff agreed so I didn't have to be the middle man. The conversation ended badly, the mechanic wasn't able to explain how he reached the conclusion that the turbo needed replaced besides saying "it's not spinning". There is a computer on the dash that showed the truck was getting some boost from the turbo but not as much as it should be, which proves it was spinning..... We went to "Denver Diesel" in Denver, NC for a second opinion. It was the turbo sensor, $432.58 to fix!!!!! How can a GMC dealership make a $4,500++ mistake?!?! AND if we would've had them replace the turbo it would still be giving the reduced engine power error code because the same bad sensor would STILL BE THERE. I will say that during the one hour I spent at GMC the staff was nice to me, and they didn't end up charging the $100-ish for diagnosis, BUT no amount of niceness can compensate for trying to overcharge me THOUSANDS of dollars. I don't know if it was intentional or not, either way it's still horrible. How many people have been screwed over by them because they don't take the time to educate themselves about their vehicles or get second opinions? read more

I just recently purchased a 2019 GMC Sierra pick-up truck and paid 61k for it. If I had to do this all over again, I would have purchased the vehicle from another dealership. Customer service is appalling....everything is far more expensive at this dealership than any of their competitor's. The first week I had a flat tire, so I went in and requested to replace the tire to match the other three tires. It took a solid WEEK to get the tire in, as local tire places were not able to get this tire. It took them two hours plus to change the tire, at a cost of over three hundred dollars. After complaining to the service manager about the cost and the amount of time it took to get the tire in , as well as the amount of time it took to change the tire. The service manager thought it was appropriate to talk down to me, and act like a un-professional jerk. I asked him what kind of customer service training has he had? After my un-pleasant encounter I went into the showroom and asked who was in charge. I was shocked to learn it was the guy sweeping the floor, as he never introduced himself during the purchase of my new vehicle. After later speaking to the owner of this dealership, I decided that I wouldn't ever return to this poorly run business. Apparently the whole dealership, especially the upper management, needs a course on customer service as they do not have any. read more

We bought a new Yukon Denali here a few years ago, not a cheap car, in my opinion. This model was over $65k. We have had it serviced and maintained regularly by the dealership and it's never been touched by another service provider, with the exception of getting new tires. When it was new, we didn't have any issues with it and interactions with the service dept were pleasant. Over the last year plus, we have had multiple issues and most recently, I have it in there every week for the past couple of weeks and paid hundreds of $$ to fix what they said the problem was. I am coming to realize that they have a incompetent service department. How else could one explain taking a car for service because of an obvious problem (it sounds like a clunker, rattling and whirring and check engine lights flashing) 3 times and each time leaving it several days (with a car rental at my expense the first time) then getting sent on your merry way with them saying " it's all fixed"! Only to drive off and in 5 minutes, the same problem resides. The service advisor is condescending and calls me "honey" and says things to infer that he believes that women are busy and such due to organizing play dates and taking care of the house. I'm not one to care about being PC but come on. Some of us women out here have successful careers and take care of the family, household and many other things, simultaneously, and don't have time to drive 40 minutes each way every few days to the service department because they don't have the competency to correctly diagnose and repair a vehicle, one of THEIR vehicles, the first time. read more

My dad bought a car at Carmax (mistake #1) and a service plan (mistake #2). Had to wait 2 weeks for an appointment! Because he didn't know what the damage could be, he didn't drive the car during those 2 weeks. Carmas took the vehicle to Liberty Buick GMC Truck and it was there for 10 days because "they couldn't figure out the noise". Robert and George Fisher were unprofessional when I called asking for a concise answer as to why it was taking so long and when the car was finally going to be ready. You never hang up on a customer!! Charlotte is a place where you depend on a vehicle. To go over 3 weeks without a car is not easy! We drove from Cary (near Raleigh) to purchase our new Acadia from Liberty GMC. Although the local dealer in Cary was nice enough (and we will use them for service), they could not even come close to Liberty's deal on the vehicle we wanted, plus the selection of colors and Denali trim level Acadias at Liberty was much better. We got the color we really wanted at a great price. It really did boil down to price that got us to drive three hours to Charlotte to buy our new car, but Liberty exceeded our expectations on how professional and nice to deal with they were. I took the 2000 Buick Lesabre that needs a few minor repairs, they charge at $95.00 for disnosatic engine to find the errors. I thought the price is a bit high. So they found several problems with it as of course my mileage is 154,000 on that car. They are a bit overcharge for repairs and suggested me to find a newer car. I rejected their offers, and took the car home because I know there are minor repairs and runs great. I dont want another car payment. I took it somewhere else that can fix my car much cheaper and do it right. It is okay... but their prices are too high. About $1,000 worth of repairs that should be run around $300.00. The service salesman was not too helpful to keep the price lower. read more
