I recently purchased a car from the University Honda. The pricing on the vehicle was at the top of its estimated value range. I thought I was getting a decent deal since it's a really well-maintained 11-year-old car. I later learned that they were not exactly forthright with the details. Michael Anthony mentioned that the battery was changed two years ago (sounded like a great deal to me) but when we got to financing, Jason said they could not prove that. They also hadn't mentioned that there was an unaddressed recall on the vehicle. I learned of this at the end of my purchase. My experience in the dealership wasn't great. Michael didn't seem to know how to wear a face mask properly (it kept falling off his nose) and the interior of the dealership wasn't spaced out well enough for social distancing. This was because of the few vintage cars inside the building. The employees did not stay 6 feet apart from me nor the other employees. Michael's face mask kept falling off during the test drive as well (during which, he was in the car with me). Jason also made odd comments about his concealed-carry guns. When I took out my wallet to verify my driver's license number, he said he thought I was taking out a gun and made concerning comments about the guns in his possession. It immediately made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe as a person of color but he apparently intended it to be a joke. Sure, I don't feel like I have been scammed on my car purchase. However, they certainly could be doing a lot better to be safe and honest in their business. read more

1 star because of my experience there yesterday. My husband and I were planning to purchase a new CR-V and during discussion with one of the salespeople about a roof rack option, one of the other salesmen who was in the showroom came over to help answer a question, and during the course of that conversation made *three* separate RACIST comments about Japanese people! We got up and left immediately and told them exactly what killed the sale. Later my husband went back to speak to the GM, and the GM kind of tried to gloss over it, said that the salesman in question just likes to joke around, and that they are a family business and that doesn't reflect their core values. My husband and I have been customers for a total of 12 years (since 2007), but unless University Honda agrees to send this salesperson to a cultural sensitivity training, they won't see our business again, in either of their divisions. Imagine the gall of this man, to make racist comments about Japanese people when selling Japanese-designed vehicles! To be fair: we have NEVER had a problem with their service department, but if they're willing to be apologists for employees with racist views and unprofessional behavior, we won't be doing business with them again. read more

Check your numbers. Jeff Schindler, the sales manager, quoted me a trade-in value on my pickup. I still owed $3k on it, but they quoted me a $4500 trade. After sitting in the dealership for 8 hours, I finally got to sign some papers. Anxious to leave, I neglected to read all the fine print. Unfortunately for me, I later found out that I signed an agreement to pay $3,000 more than the negotiated price of the car. They didn't pay off my trade, they just rolled the balance over into my new loan. "But we got your payments where you wanted them, right?" I have only dealt with their service and parts department - oil changes, tire/wheel maintenance, belt replacement, replacement parts, etc. for the past 3 years. These guys/gals really hold customer service to a high standard. The people are consistently friendly and professional, and they personally see to it that issues are properly dealt with. If a staff member does not know the answer to a question, they will find somebody who can answer - rather than just blowing you off. Special thanks to Emily for personally getting on the phone to get me status updates on my car, giving me reasonable completion time estimates, and getting me the best price. The prices for services and parts are fair, and they do not try to sell you any extras. On that note, they always call and ask for permission before performing any additional work or charging anything additional to the originally-agreed-upon price. That is honesty and integrity right there. In short, great all around. Other auto service centers should be taking notes. read more

Our battery died while visiting my in-laws. They quoted us a lower price than a private garage, told us it would take an hour, since it was a holiday, and let us hang out in the lobby with our dog since it was freezing cold outside. *This review is for their service department only* I requested an appointment online (quick and simple) for engine coolant change and I received a call a few hours later to set up an an appointment that fit my schedule. You pull up under the service section and park your car and walk in. I was greeted immediately and was helped right away. Since I put in my VIN number for my car, they were able to look up any recalls that were out and they were able to fix it then too. I stayed in their waiting area and did my homework while they worked on my car. I was probably there for about 1.5 hours or so. Staff was friendly and prices are about what I'm used to paying. A few days later I received a call and an e-mail to follow up to see how everything was running. I didn't have any issues and will return while I'm in the Corvallis area. read more

While shopping for my daughter's first car, we made our last stop of the day at UHonda and, as it turns out, were truly fortunate to have Jim Davis assist us. We had already looked through the cars online and had an idea of the used Kia we wanted to test drive. Within 5 minutes of being on the lot, we were doing just that. My favorite part of the test drive was when Jim directed me into a big parking lot and had my daughter get behind the wheel and put the car through its paces. When I had a water leak in my 2012 Honda Civic, Keith helped me out greatly and did not charge me for the diagnosis because he stated he could not fix the issue due to the fact that there was an issue with the body and structure of my car. This was around September of 2014. This made me trust University Honda, and due to its convenient location, I continued to get my civic serviced here instead of at Bob Lanphere's Honda (where I originally purchased the car). I've brought my Honda to U-Honda to be detailed, they've given me 2-3 maintenance services--needless to say I've been loyal to this local dealership & service. HOWEVER, this is where U-Honda has forever lost me as a loyal customer: I RARELY drive my Honda (I have owned it for 4 years and it just hit the 30k mile mark) so it takes a bit of time for me to come in for oil changes. Around Spring of 2015, I had my oil changed. Keith said he performed a full vehicle inspection for me as well, free of charge. He recommended that during my 30k mile inspection, I needed to get both my front and rear brakes replaced as they were almost worn out completely. This would cost around $400 est. TODAY (4/2/2016), I took my car into Beaverton (Bob Lanphere's) Honda for the 30k/A12 inspection being that I was in the area. I asked for a brake inspection as well because of safety concerns since Keith had advised me to replace them around this time. Once my service was complete, the technician told me that THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY BREAKS. My front brake pads had 5mm left while my rear brake pads had 6mm. Now, I understand MINOR discrepancies, but it has been a full YEAR since I received my diagnosis for new brakes from U-Honda--there is absolutely no reason why my brakes would go from POOR to GOOD. Please reconsider U-Honda. Once I find pictures of the initial brake diagnosis, I WILL POST PICTURES. Shame on you, University Honda. I feel 100% cheated and I can see that I'm not alone in this. read more

That is how you maintain customer relationships and loyalty to the brand. In the last 5 months of Yelp reviews you can see that there has been now four 1 star reviews regarding the businesses practices and misconduct. Yes I am an upset customer but 4 bad reviews in the past 5 months shows that these experiences aren't just a "bad day" for customer service and reliability. Issue: I was having issues with an SRS light not being able to turn off when starting my car. I came into University Honda twice to have the SRS light reset and on both occasions I left without the problem being resolved. University Honda told me that I should replace my SRS system which costs $500 plus replace opds another $300, which is not including $95 service fee. Worried about my finances in fixing my car I asked the technician about resetting my car myself and he advised me to not because the air bag might go off. I decided to try and fix my car myself which ended up taking my SRS light completely off. University Honda realized they made a mistake and wanted to offer me $150+ in services for their mistake. I refused the service because I can't trust University Honda. They refused to refund my money even though they acknowledged it was their mistake. I was very upset about the situation because I felt cheated, that they were just up selling, and also that they were being dishonest which NO CUSTOMER SHOULD EVER FEEL. Looking at University Honda past 5 recent reviews speaks for itself. Used them for service on an older Honda for a number of years. Most times it was okay work, but the bad experiences piled up and i went elsewhere. Bought new front tires from them and they were misaligned. I took it back twice and they couldn't fix it; still had a major vibration at 25mph. Had to take it to Schwab and they confirmed a misplaced balancing weight. Had them install a used radiator which worked fine, but every time I went in they tried to sell me a new one, claiming the used one was leaking...but it wasn't...I had been tracking the water level myself. Had what could have been a dangerous experience when I asked them to check road worthiness for a long trip through the Cali desert. They recommended radiator replacement plus an expensive new gasket job; it was leaking oil. This time I popped for both. Car broke down on that trip in a dramatic cloud of steam. I was very lucky to be 15 miles from a dealership, and found UH hadn't checked and replaced one of the radiator hoses when they put in the new one; that hose blew. Tech at Dealer shop on the road showed me where it failed. Now I realized that they actually had two chances to catch this bad hose since the above oil leak (new gasket) had been dripping onto that hose for a good while before they caught it, and oil on rubber makes it disintegrate. The drip landing area was the exact spot where the hose gave way. I called UH and we settled for two hours free labor credit. Next (simple) job I took it in for they spent 2.4 hours for diagnosis only and quoted $125 for a used part. Seemed excessive, and huh! it neatly burned up my labor credit. I called Honda Central and they said when a mechanic spends over an hour on diagnosis, they should ask for help/call their Help Line. Took car to another dealer, and he diagnosed that problem from scratch in 30 minutes (same diagnosis). Found a used part on my own for $60. I sent a letter to the service manager AND to the overall manager, and they never replied. Yes, you HAD a chance to earn my business, and you didn't. read more

These guys saved my life this week. OK not literally, but their kindness and great service was exactly what I needed today. I've been getting service their things like brakes and oil changes for the last year or so. Today I brought my car in for what I thought was a bad alternator. They checked everything charge my battery inspected my brakes and left a mint on my dashboard. All of this for no charge! That's right people zero dollars for amazing service. I'm not saying you'll get your service for free but they were conscientious and checked up on everything and didn't charge me for it. I brought my van to University Honda after a battery store told me my battery cables needed replaced. I was quoted an amount for replacement of both cables and the battery. After they looked closer, they determined it was going to cost a little more due to some extra work. I ok'd the cost and gave the go-ahead. When they called to let me know my van was ready for me, I was informed that the amount was lower than even the initial quote had been. It turned out, the cables just needed a serious cleaning. So instead of going forward with the full replacement, they cleaned my cables and replaced my battery, and in the end, saved me several hundred dollars in repairs. I appreciate the honesty and integrity of the service department employees, as well as the understanding they showed in regards to my financial needs. I can't thank you enough. read more

Made her drive from corvallis to wilsonville to another dealership because they said they were too busy to work on her car and the only option they gave her it was to tow the car. also they said that they run and diagnose and charged 95 dollars. The service advisor forgot to mention to my wife that the 95 dollars they have charged could apply towards the repair of the car. My wife managed to make it to Wilsonville Honda were she was treated with great service and respect. One of the technichian came out and tooked a look at the problem and he spotted it right away. As a first time car buyer, and local college student I was referred to University Honda by the excellent reviews they've received on sites like these! My initial impression was very good! My sales associate seemed attentive, kind, and genuinely interested as I expressed interest in financing a used vehicle. After seeing some options it was discussed that my parents had decided to let me do this on my own and I made that clear. At the point of submitting pre-approval for financing red-flags began to raise as she kept pushing me for a co-signer, but seemed deaf to the idea that I might need a car with a lower sticker price as I insisted that a co-signer was out of the question and that even if I asked, it was probably going to be no. In the following days I became aware that my sales associate has lied to me about her past work history in order to make a deeper connection. (She said she had previously spent 4 months working at the same local restaurant that I work at; this is impossible seeing as it's only been open for 6 months and I've been there for the last 5. I come to find out from my coworkers that she indeed worked there for approximately 2.5 weeks and was fired for insubordination.) After visiting three more local dealerships with some of the budgets/figures I'd been given by University Honda, and after giving them my budget for a vehicle as well as my budget for a payment, not ONE of them agreed that I would have been able to afford what UHonda was trying to push through by shotgunning my credit application through every bank and credit union they could find. In fact one sales manager thought I was playing a prank when I explained what kind of car/financing they were trying to get me. Finding this out I was livid, embarrassed, and even more wary of the car buying process. I called the sales associate out over text message saying that I would be taking my business elsewhere and didn't appreciate the assumption that I was stupid enough to get into a car I couldn't afford, or place payments I couldn't afford on my parents credit when I'd made it clear that my parents were wanting to see what I could do on my own. I was met with the most patronizing phone call from the sales manager in which she questioned my intelligence, accused me of lying, and WAS STILL TRYING TO SELL ME A CAR once I'd told her that my parents had realized the extent of my need and decided to provide cash for a reliable certified vehicle. Admittedly I wasn't very polite to her, but would you have been in those circumstances? I know that some of these problems are from my own naïveté, but I went to University Honda because I thought I could trust them to guide me through an unfamiliar and stressful process, and I was only met with further predatory sales approaches and attacks on my intelligence and character. I first took my Honda to University Honda a little more than a year ago. My experience was fantastic! The service advisor was personable, called me by name, and seemed to genuinely care about my experience. The work I was having done was covered under warranty. One of the issues I was having with my car was not covered under the warranty. I decided not to have the item replaced as it would cost too much. They did the warranty work. When I picked up my car the advisor looked at the invoice and it said the part had been replaced, the one I chose not to replace due to cost. He told me that since I had not asked them to replace it and they had that it there would be no charge. I was ecstatic! But when I pulled out of the lot I noticed the part had not been touched. The next time I took it in was for an oil change. I always get synthetic oil. I confirmed in three different phone calls that they would use synthetic. After the oil change they brought me the invoice and it was for regular oil. They had to flush the system and refill it which ate up quite a bit of my time and added frustration. My warranty is about to expire so I took it in today for a check-up and to have the oil changed. They weren't nearly as personable this time. It felt like I was inconveniencing them by taking my car in. I confirmed three times and with two different people, including the service manager, that I should be receiving synthetic oil. After my wife brought the car and the invoice home, sure enough, they used regular oil again! Not only did they use regular oil, but the charge is twice as much as the Honda dealership I used to take mine to. Now I have to return to Corvallis sometime and get the correct oil put in. What a pain! I give them two stars because I've seen worse garages and had worse customer service. After this time I will not be returning to University Honda. read more
