University Pharmacy treats their customers like garbage. When a business sells you a defective product you bring it back and they replace it. Not University pharmacy - they blame the problem entirely on you. It is 100% your fault that the medicine is not working. It worked perfectly every other time and my old prescription still works perfectly. This new prescription is defective and they refuse to accept any responsibility for making a compounding error. I found out from a different compounding pharmacy that it is not possible to compound my custom trimix prescription of 5.88/30/2 yet University pharmacy tried and were successful most of the time but not all of the time. When they failed they refused to take any responsibility. And they would not remake it unless I paid for it again. Why should I have to pay for their mistake? It is a known fact that my custom prescription cannot be successfully compounded yet University pharmacy is charging me to try anyway. It is obvious that the pharmacist is wreckless and careless if he is trying to compound an impossible formula. I wouldn't trust the University pharmacy to compound anything at all since their pharmacist is obviously not careful and accurate like you would expect a pharmacist to be. There are plenty of other compounding pharmacies that deliver. I recommend staying away from University pharmacy since they cannot be trusted. read more

I will admit up front: I have never used the Pharmacy services here. But any run-in I've had with employees here has been a positive one. I work very close by, and when I fail to bring a lunch to work, the University Pharmacy deli is one of the first places that I will go, because I'm a fan of their noms. I cannot speak to their other sandwiches, but their Vegetarian one is delectable. At a mere handful of cents over $5, this sandwich is a great deal, and is always accompanied by a little side of carrots, olives and peppercinis. [I great option instead of going around the corner to Subway...] What I also love about the Deli is the fact that they are GREAT with substitutions, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I feel like I'm fairly difficult when it comes to my sandies [I want this, but not that, please add this, and definitely NO Mayo!!], but at the Deli, any substitution or distraction I ask about, they easily work with me on. I will also make a point to stop by the deli and get lunch when they have a Vegetarian-friendly soup of the day, aka usually Tues/Wed: Monday: Creamy Potato Bacon Tuesday: Tomato Bisque Wednesday: Broccoli Cheddar Thursday: Chef choice Friday: Chowder I do feel that the soup is a little expensively priced [especially for a little cup of it, running towards the $3.5 range], but I've always been satisfied while it's being consumed. They have a cute old-fashioned cafe look, with a nice counter to sit at, or surrounding tables. I'm always on the go-go though, so I have them package my meals to head back to work. I would not be opposed to having a breather and stopping to eat there though - it's always clean, rarely full, and you will not smell like Subway all day after walking through the doors. read more

Holy disorganization! I never had issues with this pharmacy prior, although the owner (I assume that's who is) is a little difficult to deal with over the phone. Not the greatest people skills, a little off-putting. Recently I had a lot of issues with their techs (one of whom is actually very nice) not transferring things, not getting back to me about prices. I had to call back to get a couple. But not all of my prescriptions were transferred, so I waited on those, along with the pricing on them. I did get calls back on these - specifically 3 voicemails were left for me on the price. It sounded too high to me, so I decided to not call back and pass on it. A few days later I get two prescriptions in the mail randomly sent to me with a receipt. I call to explain what happened and get put on the phone with what I assume is again, the manager. He questions me over and over on this and I get super irritated. I started to let it show after he says, "And NO ONE authorized this?"I said, "Absolutely not, I did not call and authorize this whatsoever!" Only at that point did he apologize but it still didn't feel sincere. He stops talking for awhile and there is dead silence on the line, then asks, "What do you want then?" Umm... okay?? So rude! I want a refund. He says he'll refund but they don't have a CC on hand. I said, "Um.. I've gotten many scripts from you. Why would it not be?" So he relents and searches more, finds it. I then asked him, "Are my prescriptions used up now? I can't get them again compounded?" He claims they were not compound prescriptions. I was like, "That's not possible, the prior pharmacy I always get my scripts called into doesn't even do scripts." I said I'd call them and verify. He said oh no no, don't do that. No point at all to do that! Regardless I call and low and behold.. they said the notes right on the script shows these are meant to be compounded specifically with rice. So he's basically lying to me in order to not have to take the blame. Not cool. He left the phone conversation entirely unapologetic and dismissive of my obvious frustration. Really not okay with how I was treated. Please start treating your customers with more respect and own up to errors you are making. read more

They are very friendly and responsive to calls, but don't use their delivery service for RX. Both times I've tried using it it's been a disaster. The first time I waited all day for it to be delivered as I needed to sign for it. I finally called at the end of the day to find it had been returned to the pharmacy because they had a question as to how I was going to pay for it. Ummmm, ever heard of a phone? Now here I am waiting again at 2:00 pm for an RX that was to be delivered at 10 AM, then i was told 12:00 PM and now they say 4 PM. Extremely poor planning, communication and customer service. I just said to have it brought back to the pharmacy and I'll pick it up (though it's a long drive). It's just not worth the trouble for what was supposed to be a convenience. Most people don't have the luxury of waiting around for hours. Next day update: I was just now backing out of my driveway to go get the RX when a young man stops me asking, "is this (address)?" I answer yes, he says, "I have a delivery for you from a University Pharmacy". This 'service' needs a major overhaul read more

This place is a great old-school pharmacy. I came in with a prescription that was a mixture of two different medications that is specifically pre-mixed at this pharmacy. I was helped right away by a friendly employee who took my prescription and told me it would just be a few minutes. The rest of the place is what a pharmacy used to be-there's a food counter with deli food, a soda fountain, and jars of candy. They've also got toiletries and stationary you can pick up. I can't speak for the food as I didn't get any, but the staff is great and it's neat place to check out while you wait for you prescription. read more

I As pharmacies in this nation become more corporate and customers are no longer known by name only by prescription number it is refreshing at the University Pharmacy to not only know that your pharmacist knows you by name but the sincerity of the staff and pharmacist at the University Pharmacy cannot be compared to the mundane robots that work at Costco or Sam's Club pharmacy. i go here for the food. they have a delicious deli in the back. the food is fresh, fast, and healthy. its family-owned and the service is always friendly. i love the sandwiches, but the ice cream is the best i've found in salt lake! its basic soft serve vanilla and chocolate, but its as creamy as custard and they have tons of mix-ins for shakes. if you're in the neighborhood and want a delicious lunch while waiting for your perscriptions, head here! The University Pharmacy is an integral part of the surrounding University of Utah neighborhood. It's a classic pharmacy with not only drugs and prescriptions, but various sundry and just simply fun items. I hear their deli opened back up again recently too. Visit the Deli for an amazing Turkey Avocado & Cheese or one of the best shakes in town! Also the service here can't be beat. They have a delivery service and a drive through window for prescriptions. What convenience! Also, I worked here in high school and they taught me all I know about work-ethic. I changed to this pharmacy from Walgreens whom I have used for years. They are fantastic! The staff is very attentive and helpful. The OTC inventory is very small but prescription service is second to none. They offer services such as diabetic management that store based pharmacies do not. There is an urgent care facility here as well so it is very handy. Parking is plentiful, no drive through but that is a small price to pay for excellent service. read more

Excellent service. We have used them for years because they compound medications without lactose to which my daughter has a sensitivity. Today they rose to new heights in my eyes. It's the day after Thanksgiving and they closed early, at 5 p.m. I arrived at 5:10 to find the door locked. My daughter had completely run out of an important prescription and I didn't think she could wait another day for it. I knocked on the door. A woman came and unlocked the door and when I explained the situation she let me in to pick up my daughter's prescriptions! There were some issues ringing up the meds because of insurance changes. My doctor called in the prescription, the pharmacy called for billing info, gave me a delivery date...10 business days went by- no delivery or contact. I called back and they had not recorded the billing info or ever bothered to call again. Beyond lame. Take your business elsewhere. read more
