If your parents get ill (with, say, Covid), they will can force you to hire externally someone to watch over your parents 24/7, at great cost. In truth, they should be employing people to do this, but again, then though don't make as much money for the investors, so they don't hire enough people They can also block re-entry of someone if they have to go to the hospital, and unlike some places, it is NOT an "end-of-life" facility (again--read the fine print). So be prepared.

She has enjoyed all the activities and her new friends. The staff are kind, loving and engaged with the residents. The Director, Activities Director, and caregivers go above and beyond what would normally be expected. I feel inclined to write another review during this time of COVID 19, a pandemic that no one could have predicted or be prepared for. During this time of isolation, it is difficult and depressing for many residents. First and foremost Atria immediately protected their residents health with everything in their power. Then, the challenge of keeping them engaged, connected and happy began. I can not speak highly enough about this team. Their creativity, joy and fun have been contagious to the residents! Thank you for coming in everyday and for loving my mom when I can not be with her. I can not thank you enough!

This was the perfect set up for them. No personal care was included of course, since this is considered independent living. But when my mom broke her hip two months ago, we were able to add on the extra personal Services she needs without having to move to her assisted living. She's been able to get the support she needs in her same apartment. The personal Services and aides are part of CorsoCare wellness. The aides have been fantastic. They are personable, patient and professional. I feel like everyone on the staff at Story Point goes out of their way to make the residents feel cared for and at home. Like many senior places, the rent and Care at Story Point is not inexpensive. But it's been a good place for my parents and it's close to several of their kids. We feel fortunate that they are living there.

This is a FOR PROFIT company that shows they are doing what they can to make as much profit as possible even at the expense of the residents. Even though we've never used it, I do NOT recommend any dependent care unless you want to pay the rent AND pay for private care. We have known families that have their loved one there and because of the lack of supervision they paid the rent and had to hire private care to come into the facility to ensure their safety and give them peace of mind. Good luck with billing. It takes weeks to get items corrected when THEY over bill (and for us it seems to happen every month). I was told they can't send you a rebill when the rent bill is incorrect. Yesterday we gave a check for rent and when asked for a receipt was told it will show up on the ledger (they don't give receipts). Then staff at the front desk proceeded to laugh at me, I don't think they realized I could hear them but quite rude. This place is not cheap (but most in our area aren't) you'd think their billing system would be able to at least give receipts. Rent goes up every year (except 1) and was not told this when she signed the lease. Apparently they were aware of this problem but rent still increases to the tune of 12% in 2022-2023. On the independent side they do have a number of activities and very friendly staff that seems to care for the residents and the director Erin does care about the residents.

We were unable to visit due to the lockdown but the staff reassured her that we wanted to visit just were unable to. Thank you for taking care of her, getting her moving around on her own, and giving her the divinity she deserved. I will never get back the last year of my mother's life, and that is something I will carry with me…read moreforever. She was in memory care. After I contacted the state regarding concerns I had about my mother's care, I was banned by Hillside's owners and Executive Director from freely entering the community to see my mother. I live out of state and work in the senior living industry, and I raised concerns because of things I personally witnessed, heard, and was told by staff. For approximately the last year of my mother's life, my visits were severely restricted. I was generally allowed to see her only when a family member was willing to escort me into the building and remain with me. I was required to stay in my mother's room and was told I could not speak with staff, residents, or other families or be elsewhere in the building--even to use the restroom. I was characterized as aggressive and accused of lying about what I had witnessed and what staff had told me. Rather than feeling that my concerns were being heard and addressed, I felt I was being punished for raising them. The result was that I lost precious time with my mother that can never be replaced. During the final week of her life, while my mother was actively dying, Hillside finally allowed me to remain with her throughout the day. Even then, I needed the community's permission to be there. I spent that final week at my mother's side, largely alone. I do want to acknowledge the people who showed compassion. The staff were kind to me during my mother's final days, and the hospice team did a good job. I believe many of the direct-care staff genuinely care about the residents. My concern is that some staff appeared not to have the level of training necessary to recognize practices that I believed were inconsistent with appropriate senior care and state requirements. I am sharing my experience because families considering senior living should understand how important it is to ask questions, stay involved, document concerns, and understand their loved one's rights. I spoke up because I cared about my mother and her care. I should not have lost access to her because I did so. My mother is gone now. There is no way to give me back that final year with her. I will live with the hurt and anger of that loss for the rest of my life. Hillside did this to me, and no family should have to experience what I did. In my mom's last days I was the only one by her side. How could this be if I was a danger to my mom. What they worried about is that I have 17 years in the business and I was not allowed to see, hear or say anything I saw in the building after finding fault in their protocol and seeing their team going against state regulation. I do not take what was done to me with ease and the loss I have of the last months of my mother's life.
