Mendenhall in our own Jeep NOT shoved in a bus with strangers.

Ok so this review is so well deserved. My wife and I visited Alaska for the very first time on a cruise. We pulled into Juneau and the cute little town is full of shops etc. we wanted to see the real sights so we asked a local what to do. She said rent a Jeep and drive and we are so thankful she did! This new small business rents you a brand new Jeep with the coolest app it gives you multiple scenic trips to try with approximate times it will take and then as you go to these spots it talks to you explaining where you are, the history behind each spot etc. without them we would have been stuck doing the same things everyone else is doing. Unplugged allowed us to see the real Alaska and at a very small cost! They rented us the Jeep so fast I think it was like 5 minutes max and we were on our way. I would like to thank you unplugged for allowing us to make memories we will never forget and highly recommend to anyone who wants to get out of the tourist trap and truly see the last frontier! Please enjoy some pics of what we were able to take in!

I honestly think it's the best way to go see the glaciers and stop at all the location that you would normally do on a tour bus.( not crowded, your time, your music) Great price especially if you are a large family rates are around $275 jeep rental for four hrs... they do offer discounts for people on the cruises. The employees are great I hope that they are added to the cruise line as a tour.. the weather canceled our dog sledding but luckily we found this place!!!!! They also gps that is programmed locations

Great experience. Don't book a Jeep tour on the cruise ship - book here right at the dock. The iPad tour guide was very informative and the ability to spend as much or as little time at each stop was a huge plus as was the ability to stop and get a great wildlife picture whenever the opportunity arose.

No better way to explore Juneau AK than GO YOUR OWN WAY self guided Jeep tours! Not only was is fantastic, beautiful and romantic but after our 9th time in Juneau it was great to do something new! We had a great time for such a bargain. We would encourage everyone to give this excursion a go! We will definitely be using this service for years to come!

The seals finished in second place as they cavorted on the rocks. I have to mention that I signed up for a moderate tour and it was definitely a challenge on the hike to keep up. But Tristan and Sam encouraged me all the way and to their credit and my astonishment, I was able to say I did it!

Absolutely Outstanding! One of the Best Excursions We've Ever Taken!…read more If you're visiting Juneau, this is the excursion to book! Our Whale Watching & Mendenhall Glacier tour with Gastineau Guiding was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. It was easily one of the best shore excursions we've ever experienced. Our guide, Collin Taylor, was exceptional. He was friendly, knowledgeable, engaging, and made the entire day so much fun. Throughout the tour, he shared fascinating information about Juneau, Alaska's wildlife, humpback whales, the Mendenhall Glacier, and even photography. His passion for Alaska was contagious. Our captain, Ron, was equally outstanding. He and Collin knew exactly where to find the whales, and they delivered! We saw at least a dozen humpback whales, including adults and a calf. We watched countless whale blows, multiple tail flukes, and even witnessed a breach in the distance. As a bonus, we got incredibly close to a group of sea lions relaxing on a navigation buoy. The Mendenhall Glacier portion of the tour was just as impressive. The hike through the rainforest was beautiful, and Collin explained how the glacier has retreated over the years and how an entirely new forest has grown in its place. It gave us a whole new appreciation for the landscape. We came away with some incredible photos and unforgettable memories. The icing on the cake is that Collin is also a professional photographer and shares his photos with the group afterward. That allowed us to stay in the moment while knowing we'd still have amazing professional-quality memories to take home. Five stars without hesitation. Gastineau Guiding exceeded every expectation, and if you can, request Collin Taylor. You won't regret it!

Autumn clearly has a passion for whales and gave us enough education to fuel our fire for the animals. We saw calves and Sasha and we were treated with the experience of a whale breaching right in front of the boat! Overall a wonderful experience and looking forward to another tour with ATA! Also to mention the wonderful salmon bake! Fresh fish and live music with covered seating and a creekside view. The short hike to the waterfall was fun too! Special shout out to our wonderful bus driver too! She drives the "sunshine" bus and while her name escapes me, her impression does not! She pointed out an eagle's nest, told stories of the legendary wolf Romeo, and gave us a quick but detailed history of the town. Bonus that she's from our neck of the woods!

Getting us immediately suited. Getting us separated in groups for the rafts. Issue: i understand the weight balance but my four year old was placed on the outside and it made for a nerve racking trip for me holding on to him for dear life! My issue- our tour guide. Nice and strong but I couldn't understand anything he was telling us because I was in the front and he has a very very thick accent. I feel like my oldest did not get the experience I hoped for because of the language barrier. Aka she didnt learn anything. Overall, it's beautiful and fun. But cold. We did get wet. It's still Alaska and still amazing. Still suggest.

There's a $50 credit per tour that applies to the first guest through the "More at Sea" package. You'll also get Latitude Reward discounts depending on your tier. It somehow ended up costing less than $20 for both of us. It's also an all day pass, so you can go up & down as many times as you want. We were one of the first in line that morning. There were only 8 people in front of us. We watched as they were taking the staff up to the shop & resraurants. Before long, it was our turn. The tram was pretty packed with lots of standing room and very few seats. I chose to be on the outer edge with a great view. The climb is steep, and you do go straight up like an elevator for that last push to the top. To be honest, I've been on much higher gondolas (to the top of the Zugspitze near Garmisch). The Goldbelt Tram was an easy ride compared to that. I did like the commentary along the way. It was nice to hear fun facts & history as you're taking in the view of the channel and forest below. There is a gift shop, restaurant, bar, and theater as you get to the top. We opted to take on the Alpine Loop Trail early. We also made sure to stop at the Chilkat Theater to view the "Seeing Daylight" documentary. Don't miss that viewing. It's part of the whole experience. It really puts everything into perspective about the land and its people (Tlinget) who have lived here for centuries. You'll see an ongoing theme as you explore other Alaskan towns. It really ties it all together. We didn't get to try the restaurants. We thought it best to explore Downtown Juneau and the waterfront instead. It was a good decision. It was all very memorable! I'd love to do it all again.
