Stopped in to have a few drinks and ending up enjoying a surprisingly good pizza. We sat at the bar and the bartender was so welcoming and offered suggestions for the flight my husband ordered. He tried the Shady Jackson, Lake State Lager, Summer Spin and Chris and the Giant Peach. He enjoyed them all and liked the crispness of the peach and mango in the Summer Spin. They also distill liquor, so I enjoyed a vodka lemonade. Their vodka was smooth . They offer food and you order at the food counter. Per the recommendation of the chef we tried the taco pizza. It was excellent. He explained they make their own salsa, season the meat and dough. The pizza was topped with crushed tortilla chips. The blend of flavors and fresh salsa was very good. Kind of a meh place from my one experience, but nothing to really complain about. There was karaoke going on, and sports on the tv, but it was just kind of boring. They have decent drinks, beer, seltzer, and cider, but nothing to race back for. The prices seemed high, too. read more

Stop #22 on our Hundreds of Hops 2024 self-guided US Hop Passport Tour The space is phenomenal. It's large & well thought out with whimsical touches. I can see it getting packed, tho it was relatively quiet on a Sunday afternoon. The barkeep was friendly and certainly wasn't pretentious. I half expected the ole "Ghostbusters whaadya want" line, but we were met instead with more of a "where are you from, where have you been & have you been here before" greeting. Our beer was decent, falling mid-range, and we didn't get any food. If I were in the neighborhood, I'd go back, but I wouldn't make a special trip to go. read more

This was our second stop on a fun day in Muskegon on a Saturday afternoon. We were there after lunchtime, but far too early for dinner. It was pretty empty, but felt like a place that would be really fun when it's busier! You order drinks at at counter toward the back. We picked a high top table towards the back as well. Our table looked over a rail into a basement level, that reminded me of clubs back in college. It's a really cool old building. They have a pretty limited tap list for a brewery. I can't remember which beer I had, but I remember it being fine, not excellent. We didn't get food, so I can't comment on that. First time at Unruly Brewing and WOW! I wish I were local because I'd be a regular! The staff was very friendly and helpful with explaining where to order what and how. I tried the adult grilled cheese and the chips and cheese deluxe. Both were delicious but the adult grilled cheese was the star of the show. The best thing I've eaten while visiting Muskegon! The garlic aioli was chefs kiss, the perfect blend of cheeses, and don't even get me started on the pure perfection of the pickles! Highly recommend checking this spot out for good food, good drinks, and a good vibe! read more

Unruly Kitchen is handsdown one of my new favorite restaurants. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance of fun and welcoming, the staff are attentive and genuinely friendly, and the food is absolutely incredible, creative, and full of flavor, with beautiful presentation to match I personally Ordered their Burger "Unmac" and was blown away, definitely give it a try if you like the Big Mac from McDonald's. I posted a google review and not sure if it posted but the service at the bar was terrible. She was rude and dismissive. We went in Saturday evening and the female behind the bar was very rude and uninterested in us. More interested in speaking vulgarly to another patron. Poor attitude and poor service. Did not try food. We won't be back to. Disappointed. One man said he knew he wanted rum but didn't know what he wanted with it, so she poured him a shot and told him "to get to the back of the line and come get his mixer when he figured it out because they were short staffed and she didn't have time for him". My husbands jaw hit the floor. I've never seen a bartender so unhappy and unpleasant with the people who are paying her bills. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

I just LOVE this brewery. This is my second time through and I already can't wait to come back. I love the layout and the overall vibe. My friend shares stories about his experience here pre-covid with all of the great bands. It sounds amazing! We decided to split a flight of beers, they have fantastic beers, and grab a few tags before heading to our next location. We will most certainly be back to Muskegon and spend a weekend. Phenomenal spot. It was a rainy September day on Michigan's west coast and we were looking for non water activities - Unruly was on the list of breweries to check out. It didn't disappoint. We loved their IPAs and their food to order was great - I was craving a loaded potato and lo and behold they had them. We spent most of our time hanging in the mini game room and playing claw games for candy. Check it out if you're nearby, it won't disappoint. read more

Stopped in on a whim for lunch. It's a big space and appears to offer live music. It was pretty quiet but that was fine. Friendly staff. We tried an elk/bison burger recommended by the kitchen staff. It had a good flavor but was a skimpy burger. Not sure I'd order food there but the local beer was good. Parking on the street was easy (late fall so no summer crowds). Will visit again when in town next summer for a cool pint of local beer. Maybe the menu will have more appealing options. read more

God, the potential of this place and its location! Muskegon is building a sweet downtown area and its awesome to have a brewery with a live music scene as an anchor. However, we visited as soon as they opened on a Saturday afternoon and it was like we caught them in the middle of some kind of depression or shortage. Five beers unavailable, no replacements; behind on their brewing. So, had to get a limited flight of whatever was left and it was fine, nothing to rave about. Didn't bother with the food, which was a separate entity within the same building, a rock n roll pizza shop. Looked cool though. Service was good, friendly tenders to talk to, and its a HUGE space. Live music stage looke awesome too, wanna come back to see a show. I also like to collect glasses or apparel from breweries I visit; no ah ah here. Coolest glass was for mug members and merch was scant at best. Not a normal size to be found or woven. Too bad, they have a cool logo and it would have been nice to rock a hoodie or tee. Ah well. While beer was good and the staff were friendly I wouldn't recommend the food. The menu description was awesome but what was brought to the table didn't match. We tried ordering pizza and the kid came to tell us he didn't have any large tortillas... we didn't know the pizza was served on a tortilla to start with. Sooooo, we had to get a refund and ordered the appetizer nachos. It was a mess, and the only reason we ate them was because we were super hungry. I've been to Unruly a few times in the past for the live music they often host on weekends, but today I had a little time to kill (ie. am procrastinating) so figured I'd stop in for a quick beer. The first thing I realized upon entering at 2pm on a Friday is how spacious it is in here. I guess when a place is dark and full of people it tends to seem smaller. There were a few people sitting at the bar and a couple people shattered through the large tap room. A rebroadcast of yesterday's Tigers game is on TV, there appears to be a free popcorn, and classic punk tunes are playing at a modest volume; these are a few of my favorite things! I'm sipping on the 'Murican Brown Rye and it is quite tasty; rich yet drinkable with enough bitterness to balance it out! I appreciate that I can enjoy Unruly as much for a casual drink on a Friday afternoon as for a show on a Saturday night. read more

I ate the popular Polynesian pizza but had it by the Slice and it was good but I give it 3 stars because a quality pizza shouldn't be sold by the slice and sitting in a oven that long. Band has a lot of gadgets a looper shnooper and kapooper idk but they have it, it works the music is good I feel like I'm in my car playing litefm radio they are good feel like I'm laid back after eating a lb of mac and cheese lol love them ! We ended up at Unruly Brewing Co since the first brewery we tried to go to was mobbed with bicycles. The brewery was modern and had a hipster vibe. We had to wait a bit for some people to move away from some open bar stools, then we were able to get a seat at the bar. The lady who waited on us didn't ask if we were familiar with the brews or anything, but when I saw that they had a Kolsch listed, I ordered that. If you are familiar with Kolsch from Cologne, this isn't it. Unruly's Kolsch is billed as a German style ale made with all German Schill Cologne malt and German Perle hops. Granted, no one would mistake me for a beer expert but rather than crisp, refreshing Kolsch style it was more of a cloudy ale. It wasn't bad, but it didn't say Kolsch to me. read more

I had a pale ale, which was solid and tasty. But -- at least when I visited -- they're shooting themselves in the foot with their extremely limited beer selection. They had a grand total of five beers available. And two of the five were stouts! There was a DIPA, but not a single IPA! And this was on a Friday night, when you'd expect them to be well-stocked for the weekend. C'mon, Unruly, I'm rooting for you, but get it together! read more

Great local brewery with lots of in-house brews to choose from. I like IPAs and my wife leans towards the porters and stouts and they typically have a couple of choices for each of us. We enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the friendly staff. Rebel Pies, the previous restaurant on the premises, is now closed along with the coffee shop at the front of the building. They have a new restaurant called Unruly Kitchen. I've eaten there 5 times and haven't been disappointed yet. I have been trying to work my way through the menu but the pulled pork salad is so good I had to have it twice. read more

I'm a craft beer fan and I really want to like this place but on my recent visit something just seemed off. Beers came out lukewarm and lacking carbonation. You need to check the taps or something. When it's cold outside, Unruly Brewing Company is a good place to warm your belly with great beer. Located in an old downtown building it has the look and feel I want when I visit a small-town brewery. The staff was fantastic - helpful, patient (refilled a flight glass when I accidentally knocked it over) and yes, a bit unruly (I won't mention any names (since I don't know them) but there appeared to be a one-sided debate over whether oatmeal raisin cookies are superior to chocolate chip cookies. I also noticed the staff knew most of the patrons by name which I thought was great. The beer was absolutely fantastic. We started with a flight of 6 beers and every single one was at least an 8 out 10. We followed that up with a pint and left with a growler. My only regret was that we didn't get to try all their beers. Their T-shirts and other merchandise are quirky and well designed. The building that houses Unruly also contains a small coffee shop and a pizza joint. The pizza looked and smelled great but we'd already eaten. We get up to Michigan once every couple of years and are always impressed with the quality of their breweries, but Unruly is at the top of the heap. I will definitely make an effort to visit Unruly again! Thanks guys - and by the way, chocolate chip cookies are much better! read more

Really liked this place. Had a nice atmosphere and in a great location. Staff here were really great and service was great, although admittedly they weren't very busy. Good selection of beers, and I really enjoyed the Orange Julius. Pizza from the attached pizza place was really good. The other reviewers who gave poor ratings must be complete rank amateurs regarding craft beer. Few people percentage-wise are as well traveled chasing craft beer as I am and I am usually disappointed with most of the places I've been. I've based my vacations on beer in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Oregon, Colorado and California and my wife is a professional brewer and certified BJCP beer judge, so I'm hard to impress. I also work 300 yards from Founder's, so I've got world class beer in my face at all times. This place had me very impressed with their entire lineup from their ESB, to the pale ale, to the stout and the red ale. Most of the microbrew start ups in west michigan in the past five years have been an embarrassing joke when compared to Founder's and Bell's, but this joint rocked my world today after I got the complete sampler of everything they brew. If you like good microbrew and have advanced beyond the simpleton Bell's Oberon, you should be floored by this place. If not, go back to your Bud Light for gratification. read more

Glad to see all the activity Unruly has created downtown. Came in shortly after opening and was met by a huge crowd and a long line. Waited it out and was happy I did. I have been back a few times and am always greeted by upbeat patrons and a friendly knowledgable staff. The atmosphere is laid back and everyone seems to be enjoying the beer (this brewery is never empty). Check out their Facebook for updated tap lists and hours. While you're on Facebook, read some of their reviews (over 350) giving them 4.5 stars! They do offer food from a local (and tasty) sandwich shop, Fatty Lumpkins. If you like hard cider, they have Vander Mill on tap (local cider mill in Spring Lake). Unruly Neanderthal- Double IPA is my recommendation when you stop in. Yelping four stars (instead of five) because I think they need more seating. I like to sit while enjoying my craft beer. ;) read more

We stopped and had a pizza and a beer - this review is for the beer side only. Having a large group, it was hugely obvious that they don't have the seating for a lot of people, or the tables to accommodate highchairs. We were told we could eat outside or that we couldn't be seated. Being a nicer day, we chose to eat outside. Their outdoor seating is picnic-table style seating. Not uncomfortable, but still, difficult to navigate with highchairs and older people who prefer a back rest. They also require you to go to them and order, which because a hassle as we were outside and had to go in every single time we'd need something. The beer was decent. Prices were a bit higher than what I thought they should be but oh well. Probably wouldn't need to come here again. Staff was unfriendly and unaccommodating. read more

was here this past weekend, as we were staying at the Holiday Inn down the block. Friday night we came and sat outside. I had something called "Kick Ass" or something was pretty good. we ordered the pizza, which was pretty good. the only negative is they have no liquor for shots or drinks, and a few of my friends are not beer drinkers. so with that being said we didn't stay super long and moved the party down the block. I'd be back for sure, but maybe if they served liquor too, that would be helpful for those that don't drink beer. read more
