When I arrived for my appointment, there was already an uncomfortable situation unfolding in the store involving another customer and a disputed sale. While I chose to overlook that and proceed with my appointment, the overall experience only declined from there. The owner greeted me abruptly and, after I showed her an inspiration photo, immediately told me that a ball gown "would not look good" on me--an unnecessary and unprofessional comment. I then worked with a sales associate, who informed me that the dress I was looking for had just been sold. She proceeded to bring out two heavy, winter-style gowns that were completely inconsistent with what I had described (a formal summer garden wedding) and in a size (16) that did not match mine (4). Despite being told the store carries thousands of dresses, I was ultimately told there was nothing suitable for me. Given my budget of up to $3,000, this was both surprising and disappointing. Having worked in the retail and service industry myself, I can honestly say this was one of the most discouraging and unprofessional shopping experiences I've had. I left feeling dismissed rather than assisted. I ended up going to Emily's Boutique, where the experience could not have been more different--welcoming, attentive, and ultimately successful, as I found the perfect gown. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Diane & Company to others looking for a positive, customer-focused shopping experience.

Material of the clothes does feel a little cheap, and prices are just ok. Personally, I'd prefer getting better made clothing at Macy's & using their coupons for a better deal. The dresses in the window are gorgeous, and inside it's all white walls, trendy music - and great stuff you actually want to wear! Both employees there were really nice - Janelle helped me with fitting room/dress stuff and was awesome! The staff actually writes your name on a wipeboard outside of your fitting room and is attentive and friendly without pushing sales. There was another girl in the dressing room looking for an outfit that I ended up chatting with and even recommending a dress for when we were coming out into the common area to look in the larger mirror. I went in looking for a dress and left with two - both onsale - and I know when the winter pounds come off they're both cut so well they're still going to look great! A nice plus - they sell Spanx, and some other really nice shapewear, and their jewelry section is dangerously shiny... I had to stop myself from getting carried away. If only the staff were more welcoming and receptive from then get-go. Self-reflection is in order here. The minimal inventory I did see were classic, quality gowns that can be customized, but nothing truly unique about the style and materials.
