I had to change my review to 1 star because I found out a day later that I was misinformed about the VIP membership and they've been giving me a difficult time getting my refund back. When I called corporate, they told me that the $20 membership automatically renews every 6 months and not every year, like Nate had told me. I also felt like I was pressured into buying the upgraded membership during my second visit, which I found out later was $60. If there was more transparency about the membership price and other relevant information, my star rating would have been higher. This isn't good business practice. Also, if Nate had just apologized to me for his mistake instead of just stating facts without remorse after I gently confronted him or anytime during that visit, he would have gotten a better review. It takes a person of "great" character and integrity to tell the truth and own up to things and apologize if there was any wrongdoing. After this experience, I'll be buying my ASICS sneakers at the ASICS outlet in Jersey Shore Premium Outlets and the ASICS website. Update: They told me that my membership fee was going to be refunded. They still haven't issued my refund and it has been 5 days. I called them and they told me that my account number wasn't able to be found, but they are able to locate how much I paid and how I paid that day in the Shrewsbury location. The associate said she would escalate it to management and they would call me. A few phone calls later, they told me they found my account and confirmed finance had issued my refund yesterday and I'll be getting my refund 3-5 business days from June 18. Getting a refund issued shouldn't have to be complicated. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GREEDY COMPANY UNLESS YOU LIKE BEING SCREWED OVER!!! Also, if you are desperate to tell people to write a yelp review about you, the associate is love bombing you on the sales floor, and it's difficult to get a refund issued back to you, red flags should be going off. Told the guy I really like my Hoka and he said well they aren't good and our most returned shoe... he was helping someone else ... he told the other guy that he would help me ... sat there for 10 min and told him I was with limited time . So I tried on a few pairs on display and he told me not to wasn't sanitary have to use their socks .. he is still working with someone else still...2 new customers come in and the other guy goes up to to them .. they say the other gentleman was here first he's like no he's helping him .. Only come here for my insoles. Have been going here for years and no complaints. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. They have a great selection of running shoes and workout clothes. If you are in the market definitely consider the plan or club usually pays for itself in the first purchase and lasts a year. Price on insoles have gone up over the years but still cheaper then the ones from the foot doctor and they last about the same amount of time. Wish i had one of these places in Brooklyn! read more

Weekends are terribly crowded. Not the most efficient management for new customers and it probably took me more than 90 minutes to be seen. I was almost about to leave when I was seen by John. John was very helpful, knowledgeable and got me exactly what I was looking for as a new runner. I left extremely satisfied, but can't also blame the folks who left within being attended to. Three-four people in a huge store with a lot of customers. Bad management and planning by the business, but the staff is very nice. They take the time to question my needs for a shoe and then suggest shoes I might not have looked at. Apparently this store did not want my business. I went to Road Runner Sport on a Saturday afternoon, with the exact brand style color and size I wear for running. When I walked inside, there appeared to be 8 other people in the store, 3 couples, of which only one of each couple was trying on shoes, and two other individuals that were attended to. I saw the the exact shoe I wanted on the display wall, grabbed it and looked around for sales person to help me. I saw one sales person helping one couple, another sales person assisting someone with a custom sizing, another sales person talking to a couple about local restaurants (but that couple was not trying on shoes) and another sales person asking a gentleman if he needed help as he milled about the store aimlessly. Well after standing around for a few minutes with no one apparently "available to help me". The sales person discussing restaurants with a couple walks over and asks for my name. When I ask why, I just wanted to buy this brand of running shoe. He rudely informed me there was a waiting list because they were very busy.. BUSY, with 8 people in a store that large...WHAT?!?!?!?! Hey Anthony Bourdain, perhaps you can take a moment from your enthralling conversation about the local epicurean delights and sell me some running shoes..... Or is that not your business model?????? First and foremost, this company is not a shoe store. They are scammers & predators who want the money up, via membership purchase. Basically legal extortion. Interested in trying on shoes, well then good luck. Waiting for long periods of time prior to acknowledgement. Give us your email, buy our membership, then wear our specific socks. Followed by a couple theatrical sales tactic of measuring customer's feet on a frivolous machines in order to find the perfect footwear. Even former employees on Glassdoor have stated they have super strict guidelines for selling memberships. If at any point you disagree or show any type of resistance then employees will either manipulate you or ridicule your intelligence. (RRS) preys tremendously on the elderly, disabled, injured & overall shoppers who lack information. Employee "Nate the great" (embarrassing name tag) is man child who exemplifies all the negative traits of a salesman. He's the unpleasant boy with a beard and glasses. As mentioned before if you don't play their game, then he'll threaten to call the police for trespassing and being uncooperative. You cannot even touch the shoes displayed on the wall or he'll go running to his manager "Ty". Now Ty is the very definition fake. Obnoxiously laughing after every sentence. Rather than conversing about said situation he'll hit you with a phony smile whilst in reality is totally disinterested veering off in different directions. Ty will cut you off and make believe he's there to help. Truth be told he really wants you out the door so other potential customers remain blind to their shady methodology. Unironically, I can already sense the social media team will undoubtedly plead an apology with a sizable facade of text. That or continue to scrub the web of any negative review until they finally reach 5 stars. There are zero consequences (terminations/ write ups) on any level so long corporate executives keep lining up their pockets with membership money. In the end, their incompetent staff will sheepishly obey the orders of negligent leaders. Just remember even if they hold community events ...they don't care about you and never will. Disappointing. Used to be such a good brand but the last few folks I've referred there have had bad experiences. Be careful with the "membership fee". It's recurring. Today I tried to buy socks because I was across the street, but the hard sell for the membership went on for 5 min. Eventually, I said 'Look, I've had bad experiences with your store. Shame on this store. My husband and I go to shop and I buy a pair of sneakers. He does not. One week later he decides to go back and look again. THIS time he is told he has to be FITTED. I visited with my sister after she RAVED about this place. There is a location near me but she's had such a good experience at this location that I wanted to see for myself. We were immediately greeted upon entering and we were so blessed to have Nate The Great help us. He first started with asking questions to help assess what the goal of our visit was. Afterwards, we completed a FREE feet analysis and Nate the great truly gave me his undivided attention. To him it wasn't about taking my money on whatever pair I found cutest, he wanted to make sure I got the best bang for my buck. Their "Fit Finder" 3 D digital foot scan measured my foot very inaccurately. They claimed my foot was an 11 1/2 while I wear a 10 1/2 for years, very comfortably and with plenty of room. When I told the salesperson this and actually showed him my current sneakers, he ignored it and brought out a size 12( One and a half sizes bigger). In addition, he did not explain the results of the foot scan and put custom orthotics in a machine based on my scan that were way too big for my feet. It looked like it was made for a circus clown. The salesman was mono syllabic and just thought I would buy what he put in front of me. I would not recommend! read more

The salesperson who helped me seemed supremely knowledgeable, which makes it all the more troubling that she flat out lied to me. She said I had three months to return sneakers and insoles for cash. First of all, it was one month, and second of all, "cash" means store credit. I wish I could've written a higher review. As a person whose being competitively running for 16 years, I've spent lots of time in specialty shoe stores. After two visits that I was not happy with, I'm writing this review. The custom insoles made the first time I came to the store were so uncomfortable I was in pain after a mile of running. One mile. I came back and got refitted and no problems. That wasn't even the issue that made me rate this company low though. It's the constant badgering about joining their VIP. I DON'T WANT TO JOIN. Every company these days has a specialty club and they cost money. "It's to save you money in the long run." I don't buy shoes nearly enough to warrant needing it, yet at the register they keep saying they're "you're friend and looking out for you." Dude, you've literally just met me, you have no idea what you're talking about. Take a consultative sales course and learn how to actually sell to people. read more

I highly recommend coming here for sneakers! They have a treadmill, and a machine that can tell you if you need to be wearing neutral or a sneaker for an over pronator. They also have a machine you stand on that can tell if you have a low or high arch. These are important things to know when purchasing the right sneakers for your feet. They have all the latest sneakers models as well, and their staff is very knowledgable. The girl brought all the sneaker models in each brand with level 5 cushioning since I love running on a pillow like feel. I recently purchased the new balance 1080 sneakers from there which I love for biking and the stair climber. I also purchased the Nike zoom vomero which I use for walking or running. I'm having awesome workouts in my new sneakers thanks to Road Runners! read more
