I feel like they are very knowledgeable and have a vast understanding of things that smoke. I really thought the (who I pressume is the owner) man with the beard was a very nice touch to this establishment. I thought that the prices were high, but they are in Old Town, so I can understand charging that much. I don't know if paying $30 bucks for a lighter was worth it, but it was a gift so we'll see. If I had an option to give it a three and a half I would, but I chose to give it a three. I'm not a huge cigar smoker, but if i was I would give it a 4 star rating. I like Updown because the people there are personable with their customers. They try to know each person as best they can. Very Knowledgeable and Cool Guys who works there. I like their little Garden because inside is a bit cramped. They could however fix up the Garden to make more attractive. The setting could use a little lift, maybe next summer you guys will consider maybe adding a little bit more Comfortable chaise to the garden as well as taking care of the garden (cut down some of those deed weeds, flowers etc..) Pricing for cigars can range from reasonable to expensive depending on your taste for cigars mild to robust. They carry many brands in their store and if they don't have it they will accommodate you the best way they can. Parking either find on the street or you can park next door for 20 minutes for free then after that there is a fee. read more

I only smoke in the warm months and, today after a long cold season, I walked in and they walked right to the case where my favorites are! I stopped by to pick up some pipe tobacco. What a great experience. The people working there were very helpful. I didn't have time to stay and smoke but the shop was full of guys smoking fine cigars. Highest prices for cigars in chicago. Poor selection. The bulk pipe tobbaco they sell is almost always dry (sometimes unsmokable. Rude, pretentious and snooty staff. Extremely unfriendly. Basicly hurry up, buy a cigar and get out. I made the mistake of buying mastra de paja lighter from them for $220. Ive spent nearly 80 bucks having it repaired since I was not told the company stopped making lighters. Can not say aything nice about this place. Much better off going to Iwan Ries or Blue Havana. Total waste of time and money here. The staff acts as if your bothering them. Don't even bother with this wanna be smoke shop. read more
