After taking a liking to hookah just over a year ago I decided that I wanted a hookah pipe of my own. I am still a novice with most of the hookah experience but every time I go I enjoy it! I went into the Halsted Smoke Shop and liked what I saw! I just wanted a small hookah pipe and got a nice green glass one in the 30 dollar range. There were many other types to pick from as well but I pretty much already decided what I wanted when I went in. The gentleman that worked there was meticulate in packaging the pipe carefully which I fully appreciated! I did not buy any shisha(You refrigerate it, right? Novice Hookah smoker here)ince I had to go all the way back to Colorado with it so I held off on that but it looked like they had a great variety! Worthy of many happy returns! read more

This hookah shop used to be the only one on Halsted until a competitor opened up nearby. However, this place clearly knows how to serve their customers. My friend asked for them to get Afzal brand tobacco a few months back and on this trip we saw Afzal brand. I mentioned Afzal Mango is very good and he said they could order that for me. I don't live in the area, but they mentioned they have a couple shops in other neighborhoods near me. I appreciated the customer service and how willing they were to accommodate my flavor/brand choice. The BEST part was that the owner offered us to smoke with him in the shop. They don't offer to the public, but the man was very nice and packed a hookah for us - watermelon mint. It was quite good and I'll definitely get that flavor next time. Thanks Majid! 5/5 from me! My go-to cigarette shop! The guys who work here are so friendly and nice. They keep the place really clean and are always so warm! I'm (unfortunately?) a frequent visitor as a smoker. I've found that they ALWAYS have the cheapest prices and always offer you a free lighter! Whenever I'm elsewhere and need smokes, I always sigh in sadness that I can't see my friends at Halsted Smoke Shop. read more

Where this place lacks in selection and designer glass, they more than make up for in price and customer service. This is the most conveniently located smoke shop for me, so I find myself coming here as opposed to going over to Clark & Belmont. They carry all the basics, as well as Volcanoes/accessories, and both oil and wax vape pens. A good half of the store is devoted to hookahs and an entire wall of flavored tobacco, so if that is your thing, they got you covered. I stick to the glass accessories and am quite happy. Just be sure to check everything carefully before you buy it. I was impulse shopping and almost bought a 3 1/2 foot glass accessory. It was quite the production getting it down from the shelf, so I almost felt obligated to buy it so the poor girl wouldn't have to put it all the way back. However, after inspecting it, I noticed it had a long crack on the side of the base. It was still usable and I probably could have negotiated a good deal on it. They will negotiate prices with you here, especially if you buy multiple things and/or pay in cash. However, I think this was reality telling me that I am too old for a 3 1/2 ft glass accessory. read more

Really good selection in a variety of high end to mid range brands of hookah shisha (Starbuzz, Al Fakher, Fumari to name a few) And they carry Coco Nara coals too! Decently priced too for a private retailer, and a huge humidor filled with cigars. Definitely will be making them our primary go-to for the in between times we don't order in bulk online. read more

Called at midnight on Sunday to confirm shop was open until 1:00 AM. I was told that they close at 12:30 AM even though their hours are listed as open til 1:00 AM on every website---google, yelp, etc. I'm incredibly disappointed in this shop. It was obvious that whoever answered the phone was lying because he did not want to stay open or deal with customers. CHANGE YOUR HOURS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO WORK PAST MIDNIGHT. read more

Wow where do I even begin. I have smoked hookah for years and I have bought I get hookah sets in the past. I was never able to eat the consistency of when I went to a hookah lounge... until now. I was greeted by Cassie, who is an amazing employee. She talked me through what to look for, such as the weight of the hookah base and the width of the metal straw that goes into it. She didn't try to sell me an expensive hookah.. she wanted me to go home with something I would enjoy. And I did. She also replaced the clay bowl that it came with, with one that they use at the hookah lounge (that way the hookah doesn't stick to the top and it is heated all the way trough. It has made a world of difference. I didn't spend more then my price range and I got something of good quality. I would recommend you go when they open so they have the time to talk you through and explain what makes a good hookah set a good one. Again Cassie was AMAZING! I would definitely go back and ask for her. Also there was a deal online where if you mention the online add they give you 10 free coals. Enjoy! read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in here the other day. The layout of the store is very customer friendly (the tobacco is not hidden far behind the counter and the prices are all clearly marked) . The manager is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and gave us some great recommendations that took our smoking experience to a whole new level. He is also really great about ordering things if he doesn't have them in stock, so if there is something that he doesn't have that you think he should carry in his store, let him know! read more
