Interesting nook in the middle of a neighborhood. Boasts itself as a shopping mall but there aren't many stores, and very few restaurants--few of which were open for dinner. Was hoping for more area to walk around but it's very congested with random things. There's a quiet area called the Quiet Jungle that says it's a zen space but it wasn't quiet at all with the loud music coming from one of the two open restaurants--so much for Zen. Overall the vibe is very bohemian, with new age things around like crystal stores and the like. But it feels Disney-like: gimmick-y and forced. The only interesting thing there is Turco which is on the Michelin list as a bib gourmand and the food is good but trying to find parking was a hastle and takes a while as it's scant street parking and very limited valet. Honestly too much of a hastle to come from far for this whole venue. Doesn't make sense if you don't live walking distance. read more

The Bohemian Vibe they have at Upper Buena Vista is everything I love and more. This is tropical and chill, and local earthy vibes. They have restaurants here with different cultural vibes, local micro shops, a coffee shop, Colombian cholada spot and cool little artsy touches can all be found here. This place is dog friendly as well. Definitely a spot off the beaten patty I think, and I'm super happy we were able to check it out. More shops are open earlier. We came later and got a Colombian cholada which is a fun little ice dessert. I may definitely have to stop by again here next time I visit. Glad we got to stop here in our fun filled day in Miami! This is a cute tiny spot. We went at night and most shops inside were closed but what we came for wasn't which was the wishing tree. You purchase a ribbon write down some good things you would like to happen for yourself and tie it to the wishing tree there that was super cool. It's a little cute mall with a bohemian-artistic vibe... within a very rundown area and with very expensive pricing. It's not that I don't enjoy the variety, but I don't feel (and, obviously I'm in the minority here) that the opposites combined very well. It's a very pleasing open space that kind of looks like the artisans' markets, but unlike those places, what you get is a bunch of expensive stores and restaurants that the actual artisans they try to emulate couldn't possibly afford... Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my afternoon there, and the food was top notch, but I'd really enjoy more the real thing (which I haven't really seen in ages) You can tell that despite the effort to make it look like real artisans and small shops of hand-crafted items and food, you're getting the artificial, and maybe even corporate, version. Plus, it was weird getting into something so beautiful surrounded by a rusted fence on one side and what looks like a rundown building on the other. Honestly, it's been a couple of months since my visit and I still have not decided if I liked it or not, but most of the food I tried was excellent, and it is a pretty place, so you may enjoy a visit. read more

This is one of the best retail and dining centers in the area but keep your eyes open because it's sorta hidden. It's like a boho chic outpost of dining, shopping and entertainment all surrounded by a huge ficus tree that's impressive. I stopped in to visit Kava Villa and play a few chess games with my beau and pup. I loved strolling around and seeing the different options of restaurants. I certainly want to try out the coffee shop on my next visit. There's meter parking only on one side of 50th street as the other side is strictly residential so keep your eyes peeled. The design is inspired by what seems like a treehouse bazaar of some sort with striking architectural facades bringing this square to be one of the places I will certainly bring my out of town guests to when visiting miami. There's something for everyone and it's pet &family-friendly too. The dress code is relaxed but there's plenty of reason to spruce it up because every corner of this place makes for a great photo opportunity. The prices are decent and the options are plentiful so there's something for every budget. I found the service to be very friendly and I'd gladly come back to explore more. read more

It is based on a Buddhist tradition of designating a tree to be used as the object of wishes and offerings. Upper Buena Vista is an old neighborhood with a new bohemian vibe. Located south of Little Haiti and north of the Miami Design District, in the 1890's it was a small village, home to cracker immigrants from Georgia and North Carolina. Along with Lemon City and Little River, Upper Buena Vista is one of the oldest settlements in Miami. Many of the homes here date to Florida's land bloom years of the 1920's when the first subdivisions were built. On August 4, 1924, the new town of Buena Vista was incorporated only to be annexed by the City of Miami the next year. In the summer of 2018 a new outdoor shopping mall opened centered around the huge banyan and ficus trees. It was designed by developers David Lahny and Michal Aviv who took their inspiration from the trees already on the property and Tulum and Tel Aviv. The duo created a space where you can drink, dine, shop, and relax. This was my first time visiting Upper Buena Vista and iI was impressed. In the center is the Bodhi wish tree where you can write a wish on a ribbon, tie it to the tree, and receive eternal blessings. Under the tree sits an incredible art piece of Pinocchio. Lining the perimeter is a series of micro boutiques selling hand crafted artisan goods and food. Shops sold jewelry, bags, plants, and vintage clothing and accessories. Places to eat include the restaurant Vista from husband and wife team Robert Bearzi and Fiorella Blanco. It has a rooftop bar. I saw a long line for the $9 drinks from Amazonica. They were serving up Instagram worthy creations of Columbian fruit juice and shaved ice. I ate at Maya'mi Cocina which creates street tacos from an Airstream trailer in a garden setting. I also saw places selling poke bowls, raw juice, and Italian food. You can also get a tattoo here or have your hair cut and styled. I know there is so much more to explore here and I can't wait to come back and do that. Upper Buena Vista offers free Wi-Fi and plenty of inviting, shady places to sit. I parked on the street and used the pay by phone app but later on I saw that they had their own free lot but you needed a receipt validated to use it. I am bringing my friend back to try Vista. Count me among the fans of the nature, artsy, chill vibe here. read more

My first instinct was to run far, far away from UBV as it seemed like the sort of place that would cause my eyes to roll uncontrollably. Just a little too "precious" and hip. However, we were close by and in need of lunch, so in we went. I actually loved the tree house-y vibe! It's lushly landscaped and has beautiful, natural artwork incorporated into the scenic setting. The stores are not anything that I would find remotely useful, but it's nice that UBV is creating a space for niche retail. Everything can't be Target! I went on a particularly cool day and it was very pleasant. I'm not sure what it would be like in the heat of summer, but it is almost completely shaded. Discovered this new sweet little shopping spot unexpectedly after going to Amazonica located inside. Little did I know Amazonica would be located in this sanctuary of a mall. This place is truly an oasis. It has shops, boutiques mostly. Also food concepts and Artisan services are located inside. It's a locals paradise away from the commercialized businesses. It's like, I want to go shopping away from the crowds and away from the corporate stores type of place. This mall reminds me of Animal Kingdom. There's a Wish Tree to make wishes, an art gallery, Pinocchio & Mickey statue/art display, fountains, yoga studio, places to sit and enjoy the scenery. I was truly taken back by the ambiance and I especially loved the Brazilian/jungle music playing in the background. The stores are tiny and we noticed they didn't have bathrooms. We later noticed the bathrooms are in a separate place and yes they are decorated nicely. Think of it as a mall in Animal Kingdom surrounded by trees, bamboo, art and music. I loved it and I kind of hope this place stays undiscovered so it stays magical. I am definitely coming back here especially when the rooftop restaurant, Vista opens. It was my mother's Birthday last week and we showed up at Vista with no reservation; a group of 8 people. The staff immediately accommodated us with no hesitation. Ambiance was amazing, the food was awesome and my mother was happy. The personal went out of their way to take pictures for us. Not to mention that the restaurant has a nice decoration. The food is a little expensive. If you go take in consideration that the tip is already reflected on the check. Plates are beautifully served, this a place to go if you want to take nice, eclectic photos. I ate pasta Maltagliati. The side is enough for one person. I'm so glad I finally made it to Upper Buena Vista, it is such an awesome hidden gem tucked away north of the Design District. All of the boutiques are adorable and all of the owners are super friendly. They have everything from vintage clothes to artisan objects to jewelry and sunglasses. There's a beautiful Banyan Tree that they use to tie wish ribbons around and there are lots of art installations all throughout the area. There's a coffee shop and Cafe, there's a full restaurant, a shaved ice spot, and a healthy poke bowl place. It also looks like there's a pizza oven in the courtyard, so I'm not sure if something is opening there. There are tons of cute little sitting areas and tables that people can gather around. Such a great spot to come with friends or family. The restaurant Vista looks like the perfect place to hang out on the weekends with your friends and have a drink. I'll definitely be trying that out soon. There is valet parking and street parking can be tricky but I had no problem finding a spot. Make sure you check out this cute little shopping village North of the Design District. read more

This has to be one of the cutest shopping centers I have been and to my surprise too because I would never think that something like this could be in this area. A very organic shopping center. It has some public parking on the streets outside, but not plenty, so go with time. I went around noon on a Saturday and it was great. Filled with nice trees, some art decorations here and there, a couple of benches and about three different seating area (with WiFi), you can definitely do what I did; walk around, enjoy the weather, take pictures, have lunch in one of the small restaurants they have, and then dessert at any of the places in here. Check out also the stores, they have from clothes to accessories, home good stuff and even a beauty salon. I LOVED IT!!! Such a cute location! It's hidden so you might miss it. I didn't even know that Vista Restaurant was located within. There's a few shops within the plaza but unfortunately most were closed. There's also Amazonica if you're looking for a great acaí bowl. There was a tiny Asian restaurant that had a bunch of sake displayed at their window. This is a hidden gem in North Miami area! Such a cool and hipster/bohemian environment. It's at the corner of a street way, you do need to parallel park and pay for parking via pay-by-phone. This small unique shopping center is surrounded by beautiful big trees and it captures nature in the most delightful way. You can enjoy a sip of coffee or have brunch with your friends. There are some shops that you can browse through. I did find myself in a crystal shop and I was amazed at all the stones and crystals they had and the jewelry was handmade and exquisite; mind you it may be a little pricey but it's worth it if you find a unique piece that no one else has :) also, I have been DYING to have my aura taken and this place has it!! It's called Aura Photo; you can book an appointment or walk-ins. I did a walk-in since it was my first time being there and the young woman was super nice and she explained all the colors to me and it was such an amazing experience if you're curious to know what your Aura looks like ;) and I think it's really amazing place where you see how as humans we are all connected and through this we can find happiness and guidance in our life. This place is very trendy and pretty. Most restaurants are good but pricy, do not eat in Vista. It is a ridiculously expensive restaurant with fancy descriptions of very average-bad dishes. You end up paying for the restaurant's decoration rather than good food. This is a perfect place to go for a date or as a family, it is very pretty. I'm taking away a star due: they have African music that is too high, it gets annoying, and stores and restaurants are pricy based on product-price comparison. read more
