I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Montoya! I suffered from severe pulsatile tinnitus and hearing loss, which was pretty devastating to me since I am deaf in one ear from a childhood injury. I had been to an ENT, had hearing tests, had MRI's, all to no avail! Dr. Montoya was truly my last hope! My sister who lives in another state had a successful experience with a chiropractor trained in the Blair Method, so I was hopeful when I found Dr. Montoya, since he is also Blair trained! I was a patient of Dr. Montoya's for a 1 1/2 years. He was my last hope to help me. He didn't help to reverse the reverse curve in my neck or address the excruciating sciatica pain I was having. He always adjusted everyone pretty much the same. It was always the same, if I get the top of your neck bones to get stable and stay in place, then the rest of your back and hips will fall into place. I drove an 1 1/2 hours for each visit 2 or 3X's a week and I'm extremely disappointed that he didn't help correct anything. Candice and Dr. Tony are super friendly and seem efficient, all in an effort to take your $$$. They asked for $ up front for a year, both years and I chose to quit seeing him because of lack of results, then asked to be refund the 1/2 of the second year. Unethical and predatory. All Montoya cares about is extracting the maximum amount of money he can from you. He's slick and preys on your pain, I wish I was exaggerating. After your first appointment ($450 for X-rays & exam), you come in for a second appointment to evaluate your scans, obviously still in pain, needing an adjustment, and with skin already in the game -$450. He then proceeds to tell you the total cost for a year of care is 5+ thousand dollars, which is DUE THAT DAY in order for him to begin treating you. But he pretends to be nice and give you a deal - it's $4,600, on top of the $450 you paid at your previous appointment. He does not offer to do a 'pay as you go', he makes it very clear that he WILL NOT treat you unless you pay everything in advance. This amount does not include the $150 cervical pillow they want you to buy nor the follow-up X-rays you'll need every 3 months. When I told him I didn't have over $5,000 to dump out over a 2 day period, he frowned and said "man, I was really looking forward to treating you today." He then asked if there were any family or friends I could call to ask for money. Hell no! After several minutes of extremely awkward silence, he then begrudgingly asked the maximum amount I could pay that day, and said he'd require the rest by the end of the month. The worst chiropractor ever! Dr Tony doesn't care about you! He only cares about the money in your wallet. He charged me way too much money and kept saying to come back and in reality I didn't need all those adjustments. The adjustment was supposed to hold but yet he told me to keep coming back. His office is a revolving door of lies. It's all a sham. What makes me more sick is he took advantage of me while I was in pain. I was trying to get help and later I figured out he was not helping me. He was slowly draining my wallet. He is not honest and notice how he always wants you to come back. I'm warning you to find another "Blair method" chiropractor. I would not advise you go to Montoya unless you have a TON of cash you want to burn for no good reason. He is preying on desperate people and claiming he can heal your ailments- whatever they are. Asthma, mental illness- you name it. Evidently he is the only one who can save you. I was struck by a car while biking and having debilitating symptoms that he promised he could help with or my money back. The bill that he urges you to pay up front (evidently for a 'better patient experience) came to close to $4000. Almost $2000 later (including $140 for the 'free' pillow) I quit and have not improved. When I told him this, he said my injury could be related to allergies... really? I received 5 actual adjustments and x-rays for this price. Most times I would come in, he would say that I didn't need an adjustment even though I was still experiencing symptoms. I would estimate Montoya spent about 35 minutes with me TOTAL for almost $2000. You can tell he is really raking it in. He urges you in person and through the mail to recruit more patients. If there is one thing he does well, its getting every last dime out of you before you realize you really have not improved at all. He said he would work with my insurance, but it was denied. Where do I start? Please be advised Dr. Montoya is all about money just like other postings advise. Unfortunately I had to enter one star. First he will send you out to get X-Rays at a dentist office. The dentist office will charge you separately for the X-rays and provide you a CD to take back to Montoya. He will then compare your X-Rays with an X-Ray he has and will tell you your spine needs to look like his X-Ray shows you. He then tells you will need noumours visits to his office to realign your spine. He then presents you a treatment plan at discounted price ONLY if you sign it that same day. If you dont sign the treatment plan he says is a "Great Deal For What He Can Do, And Only Him And No Other Doctor or Chiropractor Knows How To Treat" the price doubles. Once you sign the contract, he will ask you to come in at least 3 times a week to start getting your curvature on your neck to look like his X-Ray. During your follow up visits, he will ask you how you been feeling but does nothing to addres the problem your experiencing. He will do very minimal adjustments and will get you on your way. When you try to go over with him your concerns, he will tell you it will take time to realign your spine. He will charge you every visit which at times he would only feel your neck for a second and say "Ok your holding up Good" and will charge you for that visit even though he didn't do absolutely nothing. He will make sure to remind you to tell everyone you know to come in and get treated with him. He says everyone needs to see him. After going to him for so many visits and not improving, I informed him I was going to stop treating with him. He will tell you.... " You can stop your treatment BUT if stop treatment your not allowed to come back for treatment if you change your mind... read more

I started my care with Doctor Montoya about a year ago at a point where my back gave out on me at the age of 33. I have always had back problems and underwent a spinal fusion at the age of 15 but until now I could function. However I was not aware what a pain free day meant until my care started at Upper Cervical Chiropractic of Arizona and since then my quality of life has only improved. In June of 2016 I had a little back ache in the afternoons that quickly accelerated to absolutely unbearable pain. I went to a couple of chiropractors, and MANY specialists, all over the Phoenix valley. And NO ONE ever looked at my neck!!! A friend told me about Dr Tony and offered to take me for an evaluation. Boy am I glad I went!! I started a very intensive protocol in January 2019: 4 times a week. After a month 3 times a week. I now go twice a week and will continue my therapy with Dr Tony. What seemed like "nothing" or very minimal adjustments, (as I have seen in other reviews here) turned out to actually be something; something big. He knows what he's doing. The body DOES need time to heal and it's a PROCESS, not a magic pill. My body didn't get the way it was overnight and I knew it wouldn't be an instant fix. I have been using my wheelchair to walk to my mailbox. It's a pretty good hike down there and it's been close to 3 years since I've been able to walk that far. I am making progress!!! Like I said, it seems like it may not be worth the drive (45 mins one way for me) or the money but nothing could be further than the truth. He has done what many other specialists, and a crap ton of drugs, have not been able to do for me. Wellness WORKS. PROPER ALLIGNMENT IS EVERYTHING. I'd also like to add that he has been very good at addressing my other concerns so I'm not sure what the circumstances may have been for others. I've been to many chiropractors over the years. I'm kind of touchy about chiropractors because I broke my neck twenty years ago. The care at UCC is costly, without a doubt. Sometimes I think you get what you pay for. Recently, my symptoms had gotten worse. I went to Dr. Montoya as a last ditch effort. Well, I'll tell you, my condition has gotten considerably better in only two weeks. I'm looking forward to stability and good health for decades to come. I'm not a review-everything type of person, but I think Dr. Montoya deserves a shot if you have the sorts of condition that he treats. I'll also say this - his hard-sell was off-putting to me (like other reviewers). The thing that kept me in the office is that I think people don't take their healthcare seriously and Dr. Montoya wanted me to have skin in the game. It's true - no one can help you if you don't show up. Nothing makes me show up like knowing that I'll be throwing my money away if I don't. (I had Dr. Montoya down for 5 stars before thinking about this.) I'm an adult. I've been forced to "own" my health care since that became a thing. I'm smart enough to understand that the doctor is working with me - psychologically as well as with my chiropractic care. I could have done with more honesty and less salesmanship. read more

I was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease in January 2019 by my ENT. If anyone has this, I am so sorry for what you are going through and applaud you for finding alternatives for this horrible disease. I have a friend who has struggled with Meniere's for 17 years and so when I was diagnosed, I called her and she said you have got to go see Dr. Tony. She has tried EVERYTHING to try and find symptom relief and felt Dr. Tony helped her more than anything or anyone else. I booked an appointment and he did the x rays and scheduled a follow up appointment to review the data. On the next appointment he showed me where my neck is out of alignment and how that is causing the Meniere's symptoms. He told me in order to treat me, I needed to sign up for an entire package of 44 sessions. He does this because a lot of people get relief at first but then their symptoms come back as soon as they stop going because they are out of alignment. His goal is to get you to "hold" and so he needs to see you often to train the muscles to keep you in place. I live in Flagstaff and so I had to change my life around since I am a single mother with a full time job in Flagstaff and two dogs. I handed him my credit card and said, okay "just fix me". He did his adjustment, granted it is very fast as he is very good at this work. I didn't feel anything immediately but the next morning I woke up and I thought I was crazy because my symptoms were 95% gone. Where I once was going 3x /week, I am now able to go 1x/week and he has managed to keep my symptoms at about 0-5%. It is a very positive environment and everyone comes in and is upbeat because they are having symptom relief from debilitating diseases. I spoke with one woman who said her daughter had been diagnosed (misdiagnosed) with MS and couldn't walk for 3 years. After one session with Dr. Tony, she was walking! I recommend Dr. Tony to everyone I know who is in pain. He has pictures with patients all over his walls with testimonials of how he has helped them. Melissa at the front desk is a doll as well, empathetic and accommodating. I know it is scary making such a big payment at once without knowing for sure if his work will fix you but I took the leap of faith and I am so glad that I did. Tony MONTOYA money hungry And uncaring is what saw with him and I have seen many a doctors through the years , let me tell you and THIS Man takes this cake on greedy . He is more concerned about how many patients he can get in there and not his quality of care to each patient. He will spend about one minute with you and charge you 70 dollars , and you will pay 70 dollars for a VISIT just to see if you are ' holding '. Dr. Tony does not LISTEN and He does not like when you ask questions. I hope and pray that people will see the real man behind the fake mask and not pay him your thousands , he doesn't care about you and just wants your money. His' Blair Technique ' didn't do much for me at all and many times I showed Dr. Tony my aching jaw and my terrible TMJ and he would just say 'oh man that looks painful '. You are hyper mobile in your jaw. ' Then he would say 'ok bye have a great day. ' He did not offer or say he could work on my jaw and TMJ therefore I thought he couldn't. Turns out his front desk lady , awesome n sweet Melissa whom I loved , says ' oh yes dr. Tony is the best , he does it ALL !! '. He works on everything ' I Then mentioned sore shoulder blades to Tony when I saw him using an instrument on another lady that he had never used on me. I asked him if I he could use that on me also and he did , about 30 seconds and then he never used it on me again and said oh you really don't need that '. ( my shoulders And blades kill me) Tony is just lazy and wants the thousands but he doesn't want to do the WORK. I heard a gal complaining to him once that she was really hurting still in her neck and he said oh really well your body needs to adjust. He shrugged her OFF and her Concerns off like it was nothing. I felt bad for the young girl. I ended my care with Tony about half way though. I paid four thousand up front.. I am now seeing an awesome , awesome , kind and caring chiropractor and he takes his time with me and talks to me and he listens. !!!! And he is also working on my jaw !!!! - shoulders and my back , along with my neck and is also an upper cervical chiropractor !!! It's like night n day from Tony to this guy !! Too many doctors in this world today are just about hoe much money they can make and they don't truly care about the people in pain.
