Let me start by saying I used to eat here for 10 years every Friday night, it was hard to get a seat it was always so crowded then. The food dishes were great and so were the previous owners. It's been under new ownership for four years now. We are in from out of state and decided to go to go back for a great pizza and ambiance. The entire plaza is currently under construction but the inside is in need of desperate renovations. The ceiling tiles are sagging and stained terribly and the curtains to the front windows are removed. It appears nothing has been done inside since the new owners sold but it's never been like this before it's getting run down. We went on a day it was 98 degrees and the air conditioning was broken with only 1 fan, we almost left but we drove 1 hr to get here. We did enjoy the cheese pizza with steak topping but that's it. The crust was also good. I questioned the topping if it was a meatball topping, I asked for steak, but he assured us it was steak topping. If you want a good pie then try them out but if you want any kinf of ambiance this is not the place. read more

I didn't think bad pizza existed until I went here today. The slices I ordered were almost inedible and just tasted like flavorless fat. It's such a shame because this was somewhere I really enjoyed getting pizza from when I was a child, and I had fond memories of this place 20+ years ago. It was really sad. I would have asked for a refund but the people working there just seemed so pissed off in general so I didn't want to add any fuel to their fire. We have all had Pizza deliveries from various places and occasionally, it will take to long to receive OR not be what you ordered OR not be as hot/warm as it should be. Last night we received a text after ordering from THEIR website that it would take 30-45 minutes. It was delivered in 62 minutes, the wrong topping and cool (probably sat on the front seat with AC blasting on it). When I called and asked to speak to the manager or owner to let them know, it was answered by an individual who REFUSED to pass me to them or identify whether or not he was in charge, then explained all the reasons I was at fault because it's typically 45-60 minutes (their website & text said 30-45!), the fact that I chose one of two items but I did not specify in comments which I wanted (they have two options and I checked one but got the other!) And it was the first time in my life I received a COLD pizza. All the while the ignorant employee I spoke to never once apologized or suggested anything but my fault or business as usual. In case ANYONE is wondering if I'm exaggerating, I have the recording of the call. Needless to say, I will make my family, friends, neighbors & co-workers in the area aware of this TERRIBLE customer service! read more

I decided to order delivery from here the other night with my family. We were all craving takeout and wanted to try something new. I suggested this place so we went for it! We all decided to just order a bunch of different pies and try them all. We also got the sampler appetizer that came with jalepeno poppers, mozzarella sticks, broccoli bites, and chicken fingers. I'll rate everything down below. Mushroom pie- we ordered a small plain pie and added mushrooms. Average and yummy! Penne vodka pie- wow!!! I loved this!! There's really nothing else like this around that actually has the pasta on the pizza. The flavors were great! Slice of Hawaiian- so I found out that they do "speciality slices" where you can get 1 slice with any toppings on it. This is so awesome (and something I don't see a lot). I've been craving to try Hawaiian pizza for so long but was afraid to get a whole pie and hate it. I decided to get a slice with the toppings and loved it!! Buffalo chicken pizza- This was really good too! The box must've tilted because a lot of the toppings came off the pizza. Also couldnt really taste the chicken but was still good. Loved the flavors. Chicago deep dish- WOW!! My favorite!! So awesome to have a pie like this so close to me! The crust was thick and delicious and it was baked perfectly! Will 100% order again. Chicken fingers- good and average Jalapeño poppers- Yum!!! Get these (called Pepper poppers) Mozzarella sticks- good and average. Broccoli bites- super tasty and fun! Mini baked broccoli cheddar bites. Loved them!! The sampler also came with ranch and marinara. Just also wanted to make some more great comments. Delivery said it would be an hour and it was just about! Prices are great!! All of this was around $80 and easily fed 5 people with leftovers. Website made it easy to order and I'm so glad they had delivery! Will 100% be ordering again! (My only "negative" is the way they cut the small pizzas. I feel like 4 even slices is the best way to go. They did that but they had 2 huge slices and 2 small ones. Just odd sizes and bad cuts. That's all!) read more

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT! We placed a pickup order today for a cheesesteak hoagie. We were given a grilled chicken sandwich with mushrooms and peppers. No big deal, mistakes happen. I went back to pick up the correct sandwich (which was still not correct) the owner told me to make sure I ordered the correct thing next time. I placed the order on their app. I have been ordering from here for 30ish years. The old ownership was fantastic. It has gone completely down hill since this new owner took over a few years ago. Ordered a steak hoagie, onion rings, and a pepperoni pizza. The hoagie was horrible. The bread was super soggy. No flavor steak. Not even salt or pepper. The red onion was old and tasted horrible. The onion rings were ok. The pizza lost all the cheese. It just slid off each slice and was greasy. I think this will be our last time coming here. read more

This place is pretty interesting, I have not been here in a while so anything is subject to change. As a food blogger I know this all to well. The last time I got pizza from this place back in 2021 it was great. Usually pizza places are all pretty mediocre in the tri state area with a few hidden gems. I am not saying this place is a gem but is defiantly better then most. They use a very interesting multi layered rotating oven. I have tried some of the pastas and pizza. The pizza is made with love for sure. Good crust good cheese, the pasta was also better then your typical pizza place. Usually the pasta at places like this is terrible. Whoever complains about the Pizza here must have gotten used to their Pizza from a dumpster. Complaining about delivery time, etc. misses the point. This new owner makes his own cheese! The sausage (if you prefer) is beautifully seasoned. The crust "crackles" with every bite and is perfectly browned. This is the best Pizza in the region. Lived around the corner from this place for 25 years. In all that time the staff have remained rude and unhelpful. The food is hit or miss; you never know if your pizza dough will be raw. You can end up waiting an extra 40 minutes for your food if you don't remind them that you are waiting several times. It's worth driving out of Tabernacle for good pizza. read more

Further, why would anyone in this century use the term dimwit multiple times in a post. I am a local resident and have been to Upper Crust on multiple occasions. Their food is excellent as is the service. The family that owns and operates the restaurant supports all of the local charities and churches and is always donating food or money when others need help. Recently I heard they have donated food and other items to a family displaced by a fire and provided support to the church food drive for those in need due to CV-19. The delivery service has improved at Upper Crust, and the food was wonderful. We ordered full meals - sausage and pasta for hubby and eggplant parm for me. The food arrived on time, it was hot, and it tasted great. The sauce was not acidic, but full of flavor, and the eggplant parm was not that overfried yuck, but baked eggplant layered with cheese and sauce. It was delicious. read more

Great place, my husband and I have been eating here easily for 10 years every Friday night. There food is great, pizza many varieties to choose from in addition to other great Italian dinner dishes, great desserts too. We have since moved and are no longer in the vicinity however we just took a trip over there recently as we are now 1 hour away from The Upper Crust and the food is still great as ever. I was a volunteer at a great wine festival in NJ. UCP was one of the food vendors. They supplied the workers with some eats. Not only were they friendly, but their pizza was pretty good too (even for NJ)! I loved the long sausage and balls of meat. The sauce was the final finishing touch! It shouldn't be a surprise that New Jersey is home to a plethora of decent pizza joints. I've definitely been around the block and will say there has always been one worth a drive out to the "sticks" in Tabernacle. This place is one of those little gem restaurants you find jammed into a small shopping center that really isn't much to look at from the outside. Don't be fooled. The interior is well decorated and has a homey feel with low lighting and soft music. And although they have a full Italian menu with authentic menu items, my "usual" there is a basic pie (pie (n.)- what a northerner calls a pizza.) with cheese, pepperoni, red onions, & green peppers- and it is done up phenomenally. The crust is crisp on the outside and soft/ chewy on the inside. They don't skimp on the toppings either. Lastly- what isn't so basic. You know a true Italian restaurant when you see they have homemade stuffed squid on their menu. My family gets this around Christmas every year when they put on the Italian Christmas eve dinner. They have a good amount of additional homemade items such as this. Overall, this is a well-established restaurant. I could rant on about its location (not a fan), but I won't. I will say that I would love to see these guys get into a larger commercial property, wherever its location, and run their business out of a more olive-garden-like setting (I use this example merely for reference purposes). I think they would do great with that. In any case, this restaurant is definitely worthy of your attention. read more

Basic -homestyle Italian food in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. The owners are very very generous to local schools and charities so that is a PLUS! Hoagies/pizza and main dishes are very good for the price. The positive about this place is that the owner works tirelessly with the local community. We enjoyed a delicious meal here Saturday evening. The bruschetta appetizer was generously topped and the caprese skewers were a great start to the meal. Chicken San Remo (a special), eggplant rollatini and veal saltimbocca were served piping hot and were terrific entree choices. Salads and bread (including house made garlic knots) accompanied our meal. Make sure you leave room for dessert. We were told that the house-made tiramisu is an old family recipe and it is worth a trip alone! Our server, Sophia, was friendly and efficient. Pizza, FANTASTIC I always go in and order a 2slices of pepperoni pizza and it's nice and fresh hot and never cold food. Staff are very polite and if they mess up on something they will fix it immediately. But one slight thing I'm not a huge fan of is their drink selection it very blain and normal they have very interesting and intriguing meals but the drinks and just same old same old as everywhere else. Great pizza in a low population area. Was not expecting to find that when I moved down here. The pizza is excellent (and I'm a New Yorker by upbringing. I know pizza!) So we decided to give this place a try again since it's on the way home for me and our normal pizza place is out on Stokes. Pretty much solidified that I should not sway from our usual place. At 5:00 yesterday, a Monday mind you, placed an order for pick up - Pizza, Pepperoni roll, and french fries. Told 25 minute wait. Low and behold I actual arrive in 26 minutes, timing couldn't be better! No one else waiting, give name to the woman, and pay for my items. She says will be a few minutes longer. Employees all nice and clean and relaxed - talking while working; no sign of stress at all. About five minutes later I hear something about the Pepperoni roll having to be made for an order. Yep apparently my order. About five more people came and went while I waited for 20 minutes for my order to be completed. I understand waiting a few minutes longer but 20?! So instead of a 25 minute wait time it was a 45 minute wait time. Pretty obvious someone needs to be trained better; either cook or person answer the phone. So needless to say when I got home our fries and pizza were cold since they were done at the 25 minute mark. Also lack of toppings on the pizza is insane! Love that they used red onions but I ordered bacon and onion pizza. Yep I couldn't really see the bacon either - see attached picture. read more
