We went here for the first time last night shatter hearing many people in Medford recommend it to us. We walked in to be seated inside the restaurant and asked for a table. There were tons of tables available, however the hostess said she would check to see if they had any seats. I found this a little odd, but we were seated at an open table. We ordered the Caesar salad and the Trenton style tomato pie. The Caesar salad was delicious and full of flavor! The tomato pie had too much cheese and not enough sauce. It was more like a cheese pizza than tomato pie. The crust was cooked well, however it lacked flavor. The basil was fresh and the sauce was tasty. We would come back again to try their other pizzas and definitely get another Caesar salad. read more

Awesome crust, excellent mushrooms, not the cheap canned ones, and a special sauce made it the best pie I've had in years. We cannot get enough of Johnny's. Their pizza is so good and different it's almost indescribable. Unique topping combinations on a constantly changing menu makes for fun experiences every time we've been back. Don't worry, there are staples on the menu that do not change. I've lost count how many times I've been here since open. The owners are great people and so friendly. Their crust is just the best I've ever had and we've been able to try different pies each time we've dined in. During one of our visits we decided split a large Caesar salad and a delicious eggplant pie with roasted tomatoes and basil chive pesto. The salad was big, perfect amount to split along with a pizza. Even the salads are unique, and the ingredients are quality and fresh. The dressings are also made in house. Our visits prior to this most recent we've had fennel sausage & and broccoli rabe, roasted tomato with broccoli & ricotta, Swiss chard with spinach & broccoli, exotic charred mushroom, margherita, and a plain cheese pie. I'm most likely missing a pie or two but everything we've had here has been next level quality and flavor. At our latest visit we had the pepperoni pie with pickled jalapeños that's drizzled in honey. This may be my new favorite! The subtle sweetness of the honey works perfectly with the peppers. If you haven't had a chance to dine at Johnny's yet, please do yourself a favor and experience it asap. You will not regret it. read more

I would rate the Pizza a 5 but the fact I could only get 2 due to friday night take out is totally whacked.. If you are a business why would you not want to please Customer on first come first serve business . not like there is a line going out the door for sit down.. I really like Johnny's Pies. We have ordered takeout from Johnny's several times now and eat the pies down the street at Farm Truck Brewing. I feel that Johnny's quality is probably some of the best in South Jersey along with Back Door Pizza in Cherry, Hill. The buffalo chicken, margarita, and pepperoni with jalapeño are my personal favorites. The staff is always pleasant and friendly, even when they are swamped during food truck night. Really enjoyed this restaurant! Great service and had the old school pizza vibe. Pizza was very good. The sauce was a sweet sauce. I prefer a more robust sauce. I love well done pizza and they definitely do that. They even say it on their menu. That said, there were parts of the crust that was just flakey burnt pieces that just crumpled. Johnny's is on point. Freshest ingredients and toppings you will ever have. I'd say it's in a league of its own. Most popular pizza places in Philly, suburbs, and Trenton have similarities in some way. Johnny's crust and ingredients has set its own standard. As far as some of the bad reviews I read below it seams to be hangry demanding people that couldn't get a pie. Don't knock a local business because they make something amazing that sells out towards closing sometimes. Good for them, call or stop by earlier next time. Wow wow wow! On the recommendation of Jon H. I stopped in to Johnny's Pies and so glad I did. The pizzas are great. We had the margarita pizza which has the olive oil on it that is so delicious. We also had the pepperoni which had honey and hot peppers for great extra taste! The crust is thin and crispy and the mild char around the edges is awesome. For extra deliciousness, get the garlic shrimp appetizer and hold on to the extra garlic sauce to dip your crust in! Thanks to Emily our waitress for not only suggesting that but for upselling us on everything including the unique yummy desserts. Service was awesome. Place is not huge and has limited tables so as the word gets out it will surely be harder to get in. Cool open pizza making area is the center of the place, so it is fun to watch them make all the delicious pies. read more

This place was getting a lot of hype, and it's right down the road so I figured hey, I'm the pizza principal, let's get some pizza. Went in, placed the order for their regular pie and they said half hour and we'll give you a call when it's ready. We received the call and picked up the pizza. Place looks nice inside and staff were friendly in our 10 second interaction. However, the first thing I noticed was that the bottom of the pizza box was not that hot. I was pretty concerned considering we just received the call to pick it up. We were already off to a disappointing start. Once I got home, it was evident that this pizza had been sitting out for some time. Why implement a system that has you call customers when you're gonna wait too long to call anyway? Just say the pie will be done in 25 minutes. It's not that hard. Anyway, I ate the warm pizza. The pizza had some good flavors, with a tangy sauce. It kinda reminded me of Backdoor Pizza, except Johnny's Pies are a less chewy and rubbery. The thing they both have in common is that they both don't mind giving their customers lukewarm pizzas. I would have given this pizza another try, only if I hadn't seen what I saw yesterday... So as I'm going through Instagram, I see an employee of this restaurant went on some rant about reviews they received. She sounded like a total nut and completely turned me off to this pizzeria. I wasn't originally going to write a review, but after seeing her lose her mind on social media, I just had to. People leave reviews, good and bad. If you know you have a good product, who cares what people say in reviews. Heck, who cares what I have to say?!?!? But seeing this complete unraveling of the employee will make my first visit to Johnnys my last. It's too bad, I really wanted to give this place another chance. But between crazy employees going on crazy social media rants, and lazy employees who wait too long to tell me my pizzas ready, I'm passing on this place forever. Johnny Pies was great! Our server Olivia was attentive, caring, & made really great recommendations when I couldn't make a decision. We got the #3 & #7 with a few adaptations that they were happy to make. The pizza had fantastic flavors (mine had honey & pickled jalapeño) & the crust was perfectly thin. We also got a dessert jar that was DELISH. We got the "cheesecake" dessert jar that was just the right amount of sweet. The menu also has a handful of vegan options, which is so appreciated. During our hour-ish visit, I noticed servers staying busy wiping down stools, chairs & surfaces that were unoccupied, & generally keeping things tidy. You can see the attention to detail. We also had a handful of staff check in to see if we were enjoying our meal, from hosts to servers to cooks. We definitely felt cared for! We drove over an hour for this and it did not disappoint!!! Driving from Staten Island to some small town in NJ seems counterintuitive but my goodness this pizza is worth it! I had a Margherita and my husband had the regular, he ate the entire pie himself and I did a pretty good job myself. It's definitely gotten a nice makeover from the bakery it used to be. I went the Wednesday after opening week. Was one of the first to try the Buffalo chicken pizza. Wouldn't be surprised if it's one of their top sellers. The chicken was thick cubes I had trouble keeping it on each bite. I suggested shredded chicken for the future. Had a vegan dessert jar it was sweet but nothing to write home about for $8. Chloe had good service and conversation. Myself and my family are total foodies and for the past 5 years my husband and I have been taking our kids out on the weekends to get pizza (different places in Kensington, Fishtown, port Richmond, and even recently in New York) NOTHING... Compares to Johnnys! It's gourmet all the way. #1 The crust is the crispiest... I could only compare it to pizza in Italy. If you are judging by the plain well there's no where else that is better. The flavors of the cheese with the marinara sauce are PERFECTION! If you are looking for toppings everything is fresh and organic (short ribs pizza and pepperoni with Honey drizzle) . This is the first pizza place that I have found in jersey that is worth reviewing. It is a low key environment that is perfectly set up for a quick bite with family or friends. The ingredients are delicious and obviously chosen carefully to create a perfectly balanced bite.
