Listen, I'll put this out right now: I'm knocking a star off JUST because they are closed on Mondays. It's infuriating. This is the second time that I forgot that fact, wanted a pie from here, and been brutally rebuffed. A pizza place being closed on a Monday is egregious. Ever heard of MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL?! The first day of the work week, when parents are slogging through their day after running behind sick kids all week, and dealing with all the work shit that people pushed off on Friday?! Get it together Polizzis. You're losing a lot of money JUST FROM ME for this shit..... THAT SAID, it's a quality pie. I particularly like the Detroit style pie. I would love to try some more, but I can never seem to catch them open! Another knock is that they are kind of expensive. I saw the owner commented to someone that shit ain't cheap anywhere, and while he IS right, that doesn't help us when we're shelling out $150 for dinner there. $150 is about what I spent for a Detroit pie, a caprese salad, some fries and drinks the last time I was there. It was good, but it wasn't $150 good. We'll probably be sticking to the pizza, if the place would ever be open....lol. I'm MOSTLY joking of course, but seriously.....open the F up on Monday! My husband and I finally decided to try Polizzi's Brick Oven after living in the area for 5 years. We have heard great things & wanted to see for ourselves. We were not disappointed! We had mozzarella sticks to start, which were great. Then we decided to get The Original Pie (round) and add Sausage, Ricotta & Garlic. First bite in my husband said it reminded him of a pizza he's had before... it's Sam's Pizza in Wildwood, NJ! If you are a Sam's person, the original pie here tasted EXACTLY like their pizza which is good for us cause that's our favorite down the shore. From the crust to the sauce, summer days came flooding back to us. Service was great as well. We ate in & were greeted by the gals at the front. They let us know we can seat ourselves. When you are ready to order you head to the front & let the people taking orders know what you'd like. They bring your food right to your table & it's QUICK! While visiting NJ, we had a few hours to ourselves and were in the mood for a pizza. We found Polizzi's on Yelp and headed over. The shop is set in a business/ shopping center with plenty of parking. The inside is clean and modern. Plenty of tables and set up for couples and families. You place your order at the counter and everything is bought to the table. We usually order something like a mash between The Herbivore and The Carnivore but decided to try something new (to us): The Soph, the Round version. This pie checked off a lot of items we like. My wife and I don't usually like arugula in salads, so we asked them to go light on the pizza. It was perfect. The sweet balsamic topping and the bitterness of the arugula complimented each other. The cheeses, garlic and prosciutto brought a savory, earthy flavor to the whole dish. You might guess, we liked it. Our waitress was attentive but not hovering. My only complaint was about the no alcohol (beer) available. But it is BYOB, so next time I'll know. read more

Heard lots of great things about their pizza and I was craving Detroit pizza. Just ten minutes from Rowan University so we popped by to grab some takeaway to reheat later. Family gave it a thumbs up. Plain pizza slices were thin and crispy with perfect cheese to tasty sauce ratio. Same with the pepperoni slice that had plentiful pepperoni. The quality of the red sauce on the pizza was amazing and all the toppings on it, you wouldn't even notice it didn't have cheese. Service was amazing. First time here and was very impressed! My wife had a pregnancy craving for some good deep dish, and Polozzi's came highly recommended. The crust was absolutely perfect. Very crispy with the singed cheese as the crust. The pep was the little grease cups (that's a good sign they know what they're doing). All the ingredients were very high quality. Could've used a little more crisp on the wings, but they were also very very good. The service was also outstanding and the place was super clean (including the bathrooms). The owner came out and checked on us, and they had multiple regulars stop in. Seems to be a great neighborhood staple that loves the community and cares about quality. I'll be coming back to try the round pie and maybe bump the review up to a 5 read more

Tonight I ordered their House Pizza in Detroit Style w/ mushrooms, White round pizza w/ broccoli & prosciutto & their Hoagie style cheesesteak for my son (no tomatoes) Friendly service & kind staff.... Prompt service My son loved the cheesesteak....! Especially the toasted roll, sesame seed big toasted roll.... Not your typical soft roll! Pizza was delicious & love the cheese crust on the Detroit pizza, crunchy, salty but blends beautifully with the soft dough.... My only critique is we like fresh mushrooms on our pizza....adds to a 'rustic' taste.... Not a fan of thick jarred mushrooms on my pizza.... I think we found our new Friday night pizza joint.... Somehow I had never heard of Detroit-style before, but holy cow, am I a believer! Been following these cats for a while on Insta (they're a good follow!) and finally got a chance to stop in. Ordered an old school and a house, both with pepperoni, and an order of fries. Fries were good, and pizza was really really good, at least a 7.5-8 out of 10. Pizza had just the right consistency, a slight char on the crust and bottom. The pepperoni was smaller diameter, definitely better quality than your typical thin crust/NY street style, and had a really good taste to it. The sweet sauce and fresh basil topped off the quality of the pies-will definitely be returning when in Jersey. The pizza was delicious for so many reasons - tasty, slightly sweet sauce - fresh ingredients and basil - two different cheese layers and just enough of it - and a soft but crisp crust. My only mistake was not getting to eat these hot out of the oven. The cheese is creamy, not salty and delectably flavorful. The sauce has a natural sweetness and not salty. The crust is thin & crispy with a nice chewiness. The meatballs are very good and served on a nice Italian style roll. I tried a number of items on the menu and they were all fantastic! The most notable is the Detroit style pizza. You haven't had anything quite like it before! The place is clean, well-maintained and the owner with his amazing staff make it a destination worth traveling to. I drove a half an hour to get to there, on three highways. If you go on certain days, you can ask for a cup of coffee, which is top-notch. The beans are roasted and ground fresh, but it is only available when the owner's son is there; that is his specialty. As a sidenote, you will find the owner to be very personable, and he reserves Sundays and Mondays for family time so the restaurant is closed on those days. read more

I'm torn on this.. The pizza with the roni cups were awesome. Probably the best pizza in town with out a doubt. But $21 for a large pepperoni pizza is a bit bit much. The first time we ordered from them they ran out of Detroit style pizza. We decided to go to their restaurant and they finally had the Detroit style pizza. I liked the crust and sauce but I prefer brick cheese instead of mozzarella on a Detroit pizza. So the owner said if I bring the brick cheese he would offer his pizza to us provided he also get a slice to try it with brick cheese. We also ordered the Roni with mikes hot honey as well as the Nonnas with mushrooms. My favorite was the Nonnas. The dough was tasty as well as the sauce. Just the right amount of garlic and flavor. We also like the pepperoni with mikes hot honey too. So we came back again this time with brick cheese. Damien was very nice in that he let me use my own brick cheese to put on the Detroit style and offered the pizza for free. The pizza was delicious. Friendly owners, nice atmosphere and good food.
