I came in as part of a bridal party to get our hair and makeup done, and was so impressed! I've had my hair and makeup done for weddings and events a few times, and this might have been my favorite that it ever turned out. Lauren did my makeup and Lyndsay did my hair. Both did a great job communicating and making sure they did what I had envisioned, while also complementing my skin tone. Lauren even asked for a picture of the dress to make sure the makeup coordinated with the color. They were both super nice and made us feel comfortable. The salon also had a nice atmosphere, and plenty of pretty spots to use for pictures! And one of the stylists' dog was there! My only criticism would be that every other time I've had makeup done for a wedding, they've given tiny sample sizes of the makeup used so we could touch up throughout the day because weddings are such long days, especially for the bridal party. Most of my makeup did stay pretty well except for the lip gloss, but it would've been nice to touch it up and have peace of mind. read more

I recently got my make up done by Suzette for a wedding I was in and it was the worst make up service I have had. For starters she was 15 minutes late for my appointment and seemed extremely unorganized. She seemed to be rushing and inattentive during my session. I still cannot believe I paid the amount I did to spend 15 minutes in a chair to get airbrushed a completely different color than my skin tone. When she asked what I would like to be done with my make up I had specified 3 things I did not want and she did them all!! Not to mention when I left my face was a completely different color than my neck, and the make up felt as though it was caked and layered on to my skin. I am no make up pro, but I do know when applying foundation or lip stick you need a primer applied beforehand. She applied lip stick without any primer or even chapstick and 10 minutes after I left, my lips were already peeling. I had also mentioned to her that I have sensitive eyes and if I get powder in them my contacts will burn and water for the remainder of the day. Clearly disregarding what I said, she hit my eye with the eyeshadow and bronzer brush 3 times, because she was busy talking to someone the entire time she did my make up, and as I had mentioned, my eyes were irritated for the rest of the night. After leaving 3 people had mentioned how bad my make up was and couldn't believe that I paid $50 for that job. I had to go to someone for help with fixing my make up after I left!!! I am so disappointed and highly advise going elsewhere for make up application!! Suzette is extremely unprofessional and not up to date with make up application. read more

If I could leave zero stars here I would. Unfortunately I have to rate to comment. Literally walked by and noticed the salon for the first time, so walked in to ask for information. Girl at the desk didn't even know if there was a website I could go look at to see what services offered and suggested I google them, was dismissive and impolite. Mid-sentence picked up the phone and ignored me. I was so turned off I just left and will never consider bringing business here just from how unprofessional and impolite the first impression was. I recently went to the Up Sa Daisy Salon for my makeup trial with Suzette and I walked out more than a little disappointed. Upon meeting Suzette at a bridal show in town, she was sweet, outgoing, and very personable. We definitely hit it off from the moment that we met! During the trial, she was the same way. Very sweet, outgoing, so no complaints whatsoever about her personality. After being in many weddings as a bridesmaid and having my makeup professionally applied (as well as having a knack for makeup myself), I think I can appreciate what sets apart a makeup professional and the quality I should expect from them. Professionalism is not Suzette's strong suit. If you value your time and want the experience of a professional makeup artist, well then, Suzette is unfortunately not the person to go to. A few things that really soured my experience: She was almost 35 minutes late for my appointment because of a pedicure that she started on a client only a few minutes before my appointment time. When my appointment started, she was NOT prepared at all, even considering my appointment was scheduled for months. She was digging in dirty makeup travel bags the entire time for makeup, brushes, and did not have the colors that she claimed to want to use but said, "Well, you get the idea, right?". She was also on her phone in front of me taking three personal calls during my appointment and texting! Speaking of brushes, the brushes she applied makeup with were used and clearly DIRTY! I politely asked her about what her process for cleaning brushes between bridesmaids would be on my wedding day and she responded, "Oh, we clean them before we get to you that day". So, basically, admitting that she does not have a system in place for ensuring that every client out of a bridal party receives industry-standard clean brushes. The brushes she used on my face had blush colors and foundation on them. More of what bothered me was that she did not ask what look I was going for before beginning my trial. It took me taking out my phone, stopping her, and showing her photos of what I liked. She took no real interest in what I was going for (talked about it for maybe 60 seconds) and proceeded to start with the foundation even though I asked about a primer application. Instead of addressing my concerns about the makeup seeping into my pores, she brushed me off and said, " We can do any primer you want" but still did not apply any! Suzette asked for almost no feedback from me whatsoever about my makeup. For example, she proceeded to speak with another makeup artist from the salon about what color airbrush foundation I am. I spoke up and let her know (from experience with the same airbrush makeup brand) that I knew I was the lightest shade. Neither of them listened and applied a darker color on me (which made my face and neck look two-toned). Knowing how to match foundation to a client's face is a beginner level skill-- especially if the client already knows her color from previous experience. Ultimately, Suzette had to apply a layer of the lighter shade over all of the blush, contour, and powder at the end and reapply the blush, contour, etc. The end result was a cakey mess (a common mistake made by amateur airbrush artists is to apply too many layers) basically negating the "flawless" finish that airbrush makeup results in when applied correctly. In addition, Suzette did not allow me to stop and talk about my look during the process. She only did a final reveal at the end. Let me say, when I saw myself, it was dramatic(almost drag-queenish). I had a very heavy eye with sparkles in the corner, enormously long fake lashes that were almost to my eyebrows and clown-red lips that did not suit my skin tone at all. My lips were not primed or lined before lipstick application and the mascara she put on me was USED even though I had my own new tube of mascara that I brought with me! Sharing mascara is a HUGE no-no! When Suzette asked me what I thought, my immediate reaction was "Whoa, it's bold." I didn't want to begin criticizing the cakey drag-queen mess or her low standards of makeup application/sanitation because she is a sweet person. At that point, in order to be happy with the makeup application, we would have had to start from the beginning with proper priming and prepping of the skin, proper application of more natural looking false lashes, CLEAN brushes, the correct foundation color and reapplication of almost all the makeup to make me feel like it was worth the $60 I spent. I decided right then and there that there was no way I was using her for my wedding day. I would be embarrassed if she applied makeup on my mom or bridesmaids as unprofessionally as the way she applied it on me. When my fiance saw me, needless to say he was not pleased with it. Save your money and search elsewhere! I hope this helps another bride to be save time and money! read more

Had a couple of friends who had their hair colored here and looked great so I decided to call for an appt. I asked for a specific stylist and was told she was unavailable and was offered an appointment with Amy. I went in looking for something a little different and asked Amy for suggestions. After basically telling me she had no ideas, I was told the only thing she could do was color my roots and give me a lowlight but that it probably wouldn't come out that good because I asked her not to use bleach on my hair. I explained to her that I have had my hair lightened for many years without bleach and never had my hair turn yellow as she stated was "going to happen". I should have listened to my instinct and walked out without letting her touch my hair. She had to ask 5 different stylists what to do as if she had no clue herself. It made me super uncomfortable and low and behold, I walked out paying $135 for a terrible color job that didn't even include a cut, wasn't going to let her mess my hair up any further. My hair was 4 different colors and had a huge gold band around my roots. So upset that she even had the nerve to charge me after she clearly knew she messed my hair up. This girl has no business working in a salon, she needs to go back to school and this salon should not be recommending her for appts with new clients. read more

Pretty much from here on out I will get my hair cut by Aimee at Upsa Daisy. She's professional, friendly and asks about your mom'n'dem. I've never had a bad experience at this salon and it has always been easy getting appointments. While your here you can get your eye brows waxed, nails manicured, hair dyed and fixed and I'm almost certain they would throw in lunch for you. Ok, ok I might be exaggerating a bit with lunch but the salon is very relaxed and everyone is super friendly. They also come to you for wedding day too! read more

Earlier this month, Suzette did my make-up and Whitney did my hair for my wedding. Both were fantastic, and I highly recommend both of them. I'm not from New Orleans, and Up Sa Daisy was recommended to me by a friend from New Orleans for both hair and makeup for my wedding day. I had a trial hair and makeup appointment with two different salons, and Up Sa Daisy blew me away. For hair, I had a general idea of what I wanted and a few pictures of what I was going for, and asked Whitney to help me come up with a style. She talked me through what she had in mind (which sounded great) and started to do the up-do and asked questions throughout the process on what I liked/didn't like as she styled. At the end, my hair looked great and it was even better than what I had in mind/expected. For both the trial and actual wedding day, my up-do stayed in place all day (12 hours), and I love how it turned out the day of and in pictures. Whitney is so good at what she does! For makeup, Suzette asked a lot of questions about what I didn't like about my other trial make-up at a different salon and looked at pictures with me to understand what I wanted and what would be most flattering on me. After the trial, I really liked the overall look and wanted to change just a few things. Like Whitney, Suzette was really cool and encouraging about making changes and told me to speak up about what I liked/didn't like. The final look was very pretty and flattering and looked great in pictures. It was the best professional make-up I had ever had. I have oily skin, and I was shocked at how well the makeup lasted and looked good for 12 hours! The air-brush foundation Suzette uses looks great and lasts all day. 1.0 star rating 11/16/2015 I was hoping for a beautiful updo...was basically a messy bun. As each of the bridesmaids went through the quality decreased. By the time it was me (aka the bride) my hair was the worst, I had to ask multiple times for my height to be increased (which I emphasized at booking) but that didnt really happen...in my photos my hair might as well be plastered to my head. Honestly, this is one of the biggest regrets of my day. I have finally found the perfect hair salon. I scheduled a color and cut with Shannon based on a referral and I so happy I did. The salon is beautifully decorated and the staff is very friendly. It definitely had a family atmosphere, which is a nice change from a lot of other salons that are very pretentious.
