Went here before a concert in The Showroom. We had a party of 6. Got there 2 hours before the concert and was told 30 minute wait. We ended up leaving at 7:15 without getting seated still. Attended the concert, went back at around 10pm and were told 45 minute wait even though we saw many empty tables. Decided to go across the street to the sports bar instead. Surprisingly good pub fare, great atmosphere and local brews are a winning combination at this reasonably affordable dining spot inside the Turning Stone Resort Casino. I went with the beer can chicken, which was served with a wonderfully fresh and deliciously seasoned succotash and some perfectly prepared salt potatoes. My wife described her obviously in house crafted veggie burger as the best she's had. Service was prompt and friendly as well. A definite winner for us. read more

I found the employees here to be completely incompetent, most notably their Food & Beverage manager, Chris. The staff at the front desk and restaurants seem to be incapable of taking care of a minor task such as a reservation. There were 20 of us from the ages of 10 to 75 and we were all extrememly disappointed with the service, or lack thereof. At the front desk, we were told that the Tavern did not accept reservations. They said we could eat at the same time but sitt at different tables. We were completely okay with this being that we were such a large party. The front desk told us to come back down in an hour and fifteen minutes and they would be able to seat us at the Tavern. An hour and fifteen minutes later we all came back down, ready for a nice dinner. The hostesses gave us five separate buzzers for our tables. After thirty minutes we noticed people arriving after us and getting seated before us. Come to find out, no one had notified the restaurant they were coming and we wouldn't even be seated within an hour of eachother. The restaurants and front desk seem to be afraid of each other and did not take care of an error they made while making dining arrangements for us. The simply said, "There was a miscommunication," and, "we are really busy." Then, basically, you are on your own to sit down now that you have dressed up for dinner...Buffet anyone? No customer skills to resolve minor problems...they all seemed like kittens that could not find thier mittens. The front desk called up to the Food & Beverage manager (Chris) to "help" us. Chris was not willing to accomodate us in any way whatsoever. All he said was there a miscommunication on their end. The way they handled this situation was completely unprofessional, to the extent that they continued to speak about us as we were walking away. Nevertheless, we were starving and all settled for going to the buffet. The front desk told us it would $17.95 a plate, upon arriving it was $22.95 and the food was subpar. So much for a nice family meal! Furthermore, the casino had a horrible payout, we did not hear any winners. There are much better winnings at any other casino, ie. Fingerlakes or Seneca. This was our fifth or sixth time here, each time before was a mediocre at best experience. We will 100% not be returning here at any point in the future. read more

I want to comment on the absolutely horrific service we had at Upstate Tavern two weeks ago. My husband and I are regular visitors of all of the restaurants at Turning Stone Casino, but after our experience at Upstate, we won't be going there again anytime soon. We waited at least 15 minutes at the bar, which was about half full, before walking over to one of the waitstaff standing at the bar and requesting a menu. We waited another ten minutes and watched no fewer than four waitstaff pass by without even acknowledging us. At this point we left without an offer of so much as a drink. Service here was really, really lacking. The burger was well-done and I ordered it medium , and when I went to the bathroom they stole the rest of my beverage. French fries were the star of the show at this place, which is a disappointment when you're looking forward to munching down on a $13 hamburger. Bun was grilled nicely and was kind of yummy. I'll give it that, but the toppings to put on a side we're definitely lacking. One tiny thin piece of lettuce? Weak. Overall between the lackluster burger and the utterly crappy service that is not consistent with the rest of the service you see anywhere else at the Turning Stone, will definitely not be returning. read more

Easy 5-stars. All their food is made from scratch. Between us, we had onion rings, mac and cheese, a jalapeno burger, and a cheesesteak. Usually after a meal like that, you feel like you want to lay down and go to sleep. Instead, felt like a million bucks. Our server (a young lady) was attentive, friendly, and really took care of us. The plating was spectacular as well. If you're at Turning Stone and deciding where to go to dinner, look no further. Upstate was my favorite bar within Turning Stone. It had the most people, cheaper food and drinks, it didn't have a cheesy theme feel to it, and of course, it supports the local NY food and culture. I went on a Saturday night and it was packed- luckily I went alone and found a spot at the bar. The beer on tap was $6 and included local favorites from Ithaca, Middle Ages, and Ommegang. I got the buffalo chicken flatbread off the reviews posted here but I was pretty disappointed. I got my flatbread an hour late and it was given to another couple who ordered only 5 minutes before then. The manager rectified the situation and comped it which was really nice and very professional. When it did come, the chicken was sparse and it was overall dry. I think I would need to return here and try a few more drinks and have a positive food experience to give it a better review read more

Great service in the kitchen was especially efficient on the Sunday evening. Started out with the cheese plate and while good, it was not as good as last time. Next up the fried oysters Just how you want them in a crunchy corn bread coating fried to perfection. Black Angus sliders were to die for. The side of fries...equally incredible. Utica greens not so much. Overly spicy hot to the point of being inedible. A bottle of Lameraux Landing Cabernet Franc topped up all off. Service A+. read more

I was impressed the moment I checked in with the hostess. I liked the layout and atmosphere as well as all the food. They also have a locally brewed beer just available here so I had three Upstate Lagers! We started with the pretzel appetizers with dipping sauces. It was so good we had a second order. People in my party had the beef barley soup which was really good. We all had the burger special that day with a gouda cheese. Again, the burgers were very good. Our server was Kaylyn who was one of the best servers I have ever had. I made sure management new this as I left. She was attentive and kept our beers filled and knew the menu when we had questions. I had a brown bag apple pie and it was superb. I will be back for sure. A great dining experience from the beginning to the end. read more

My food which was the mac and cheese came out alright but my fiancé food (which was the pan seared salmon) came out WAY undercooked! Now we are waiting a whole meal to be cooked while I sit here with my food letting it get cold because I won't eat without him. RIDICULOUS! The second piece came out way over cooked and much smaller. Waitress not very friendly. Not very attentive. Just not a good first impression. Will not come here again. Can't even describe just how much I loved the truffle mac-n-cheese bites - couldn't get enough of them! Also quite enjoyable was the soup of the day, beans and sausage I believe. Out of all of the dining options in the Turning Stone Casino, this is my favorite based on food and service. The waitstaff is consistently friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They made one of the best bloody mary's I have ever had in my life! Steak salt on the rim, served with some jerky and mixed to perfection. KUDOS!! Came here because nothing else in Verona was open at 11pm. The place was empty and service was good. With the late night menu available only I ordered a burger which tasted like it was fresh ground beef. The fries weren't very good, but the burger was great and much better than the fast food spots which I'm guessing are open late. read more

My friend and I stopped here over the weekend for a quick burger. I loved the cute ambience and the server was nice, but the food made both of us sick. We both had burgers which looked fully cooked, but we had sour stomachs after for about 12 hours. We also had mac and cheese bites which were amazing. Not bad, but not great. This was the first place I ate staying at Turning Stone tower hotel Wednesday (8/27/14) night. Upon first sitting down at a table near the bar, I try to grab the eye of the bartenders as they chatted behind the bar and ignored us for about 10 minutes. Not a good first impression for this beautiful casino. When one of them did come over, she didn't give me a warm and friendly welcome vibe. I got my drinks instantly, but waited about 35 minutes for my burger. This place was practically empty at 10PM at night so I was confused why my food took so long. When it did come, it was great. Overall I got the impression that whatever my dining needs were, it came second to the needs of the bartenders. There was times where I would try to get service to the table and the guy, I presume bar manager, would dodge my attempts for even a lass of water. While we waited over an hour for a table for 12, when we were finally seated, they couldn't seat us as a party of 12. Sat us as 3 tables of 4. That could've been done during the hour we waited. Poor planning on their part. Then, just as we all settled in our 3 tables, a table of 12 opened up next to us. Waitress told us they were comping us an appetizer, onion rings, wow how generous! Then the meals came. One table got entirely wrong order, beef was over done. Have dined here many times and have never experienced this kind of service. Very disappointed. Went here on July 26,2015 - have been here before and I have noticed each time I come it's slowly getting worse and worse. This thine we were seated at a dirty table. Waiter came to clean the table and gave us menu's and then never came back we waited a good 10 minutes and got up to leave. Yes, the food is good, but if you tell a party of 9 they will be sat in 25-30 min. It should not take 1- 1 1/2 hours to do so. The food is not as good as a two an half hour wait. We had plans to be out by 7 but have not left until 8:30pm. These services were great, manager was friendly. But come on Chiefs what's the hold up! We ate in nearly 10 min. Spent last Sunday there as I was in early to watch the games. Asked the bartenders nicely twice to put a game on (only about 5 people at the bar) and they didn't do anything. Finally a supervisor helped right before kick off. Ordered couple beers throughout the game, never brought them. The lady next to me also received the wrong order--I could go on and on. I will say everyone was nice, just didn't care about anything and totally disorganized. The best part was I realized 5 days later they double charged and posted my check on my debit card. I have called twice and no resolution. They tell me I have to call the finance team to fix a mistake they made. The whole Turning Stone experience was bad, I travel 60-100 nights per year and this was in the bottom 5%. Bad service. People are rude. Oddly enough, place was jam packed. It gets one star because I did win in the casino. For a day trip, fine... But I would never stay or dine here again. read more

I did a review for the casino in general, and it wasn't a positive one. Basically I hate it there. However, the Upstate Tavern is one of maybe 2 places/things there I enjoy. I've only been a few times but every time I went the food was outstanding in my opinion. Service is decent/average. Can be a bit of wait depending on how busy the casino is that day. Just had dinner with my wife at the Upstate Tavern. Ordered two fish fries. The fish piece was small and greasy and the French fries were lousy, cooked long before dinner and reheated. Always enjoyed going there but the food has fallen off lately. read more

Great place to eat, definitely recommended the artichoke dip with fry bread . Have not had anything I have not liked!
