took my gt350 to fix a water leak from the rear window. after the work was done - there is wax/sealant residue all over my trunk, spoiler, and rear bumper from when they re-sealed the rear window. trunk deck lid has a crack. paint is chipped around the rear window from when they installed an re-installed the rear window. they also used too much of it that its poking out on the corner. they could of taken better care and paid better attention to what they were doing. now i have to replace the rear deck lid and possibly the rear spoiler. which aren't cheap and now its costing me an extra $400 - $900 to fix their mistakes. read more

This is my second time getting body work done at Uptown Automotive. I had a small parking accident with a pole that put a dent in the driver side front fender. This was self pay. Tim Xiong was terrific to work with. When I arrived he immediately assessed the situation and gave me some options. At first I thought the shop could knock out the dent, but he pointed some other details like the misalignment with the door due to the dent that would not get fixed if they just hammered the metal. Also he gave me price estimates for the different approaches. I felt he took the time to listen to my concerns and explained the pros and cons to each approach. The repair took about 5 days and the shop paid for a Lyft ride both ways to get me home. Tim kept me updated texts throughout the week. The repair was perfect, look at the pictures! This place is not the cheapest place in town but they do meticulous work and provide excellent customer service. I will continue to take my business here. read more

Uptown Automotive was not the easiest car shop to work with. We waited a long time, without proactive updates from the shop, for our car to get fixed. We called whenever our car was supposed to be ready, or when a part was supposed to arrive, and not only was it not ready as promised, they seemed annoyed that we were following up. Eventually we got our car fixed, and then we had to go right back because the backup sensors were not operational and there was a nail in our tire, most likely due to their shop. Overall we did not have a great experience there, but I will give them credit for completing the job and fixing all issues eventually. I did not feel any type of sales pressure or unethical practices. I give them 3 stars. They are an average shop, and they probably did their best. Although I did not have a great experience there, I can see them being great for someone else or for a different type of auto repair. read more

Based on the reviews I had the suspension on my 2012 4Runner replaced. I was assured by Zameer that they had replaced the suspension on similar vehicle and they were very happy. After I picked up my 4Runner ($1,500 later) and drove home, it shook violently between 55mph and 60mph. I notified the service writer and he said it was my tires. Hmm, didn't ever shake before I brought it in. The next week I decided to get the breaks done, and have them look at the shake. Breaks got done, but the shake was still there. Same reply, "it's your tires." I said, OK give me a quote on tires...the service writer never go back to me. I had my tires replaced at another shop and it still was shaking like crazy. Bottom line, I spent over $2000 at this shop and not happy with the work. Even received a couple of texts from "Zameer" that I replied to but they went unanswered. Avoid this place. read more

I was sideswiped by one of the daily poor drivers who don't understand dual turning lanes and needed help as outside of the body damage to the driver side, it also broke my mirror and put the car out of alignment. I reached out to a lot of body shops and everyone was on a long ass wait, including Uptown. I have to drive often for my job and Gilbert was great and understanding - he got me in so I could get a rental and get back to work. lol thanks again, Gilbert because I couldn't even find a car to drive! Gilbert is a true professional and although I knew that my car was going to be gone for a while, he stayed in touch via text and/or phone to keep me updated. It was the exact opposite of the experience of the time I had dealing with Progressive (the insurance of the lady who hit me). He said he'd take care of it, and he did. This is how cool this guy is. When I went to pick up the car , I was impressed with the body work (fun fact: I think the driver mirror was from a previous model which I also had and extended the left view that they got rid of - so that was a nice positive). :) There were some minor issues I found and Gilbert was right on top of it when I pulled in on a lunch break. It did take a few more days which to me is fine driving my whatever little tiny Nissan rental for a few more days if mine is done right. Do you see the pattern? He is very customer focused which is probably why they are rated so high. I'm going to have some out of pocket work done here because I really trust these guys. Uptown Automotive was referred to me through another highly regarded local automotive shop specializing in paint protection films and the local car club. Ever since the referral, we have taken several vehicles to Uptown and they been incredible at ensuring everything was done to our high standards. I most recently had to take my vehicle to have the hood repaired due to damage from road debris. We agreed to repaint the entire front end of the vehicle (hood, fenders, and bumper). My Audi has a dark gray pearlescent metallic color, and Uptown Automotive was able to make the vehicle look absolutely perfect with 100% color match. You cannot tell it was repainted at all. Pains me to do so, as each and every employee I've met here is extremely nice, however my most recent service here was beyond disappointing. First, it's extremely hard to get an appointment here. I understand this is a very popular business, but perhaps an assistant or two to respond to text messages, inquiries, etc. would be helpful. Additionally, it was like pulling teeth to receive an emailed quote, prior to scheduling an appointment, although it's something they say they are willing to provide. Those issues I have ignored. But most recently after receiving repairs on my vehicle I noticed the service light was still on. I was confused and assumed it would take a few miles to turn off; it never did. Zameer actually reached out to inquire on my satisfaction with service and I told him that my service light was still on and asked if it would turn off by itself. No response! To make matters worse, not long after service, my car starts acting psychotic. Come to find out, via another mechanic, that one of my batteries is completely drained. Nothing indicated that my battery was dying when I got a Service B? This was only in November and there is nothing I've done differently since receiving service. Trust me, I know how to not drain my battery. And since my service light never turned off, never received a response from Zameer re why my service light was still showing AND the fact that my car is now having issues, I wont be returning. I've been driving from north Houston because when I find a business I like, I'm extremely loyal, so this is unfortunate. But at least I was able to locate a great mechanic who is closer to my residence. No more driving an hour for a business that clearly didn't care about my "satisfaction". I asked if they could do a simple tune up on my 2013 Kia Soul and then he explained they did not work on cats older than 16 years. I explained that my car is only 9 years old (hence 2013) and then he stated that he could not work on cars older than 2016. To which I did some looking around on the yelp page and it appears he has done several jobs on cars older than 2016 so I'm not sure what the problem was and he didn't even take the time to look at my car before making this decision. I asked for several routine services that were due but by the time I got my car back, it was actually in worse shape than when I took it in. Seriously. Asked for new brakes...car came back squeaking every time I pressed the brakes. Fluid flush to make it run smoother...caused jerkiness when I got it back. When a second trip to them didn't fix the issues, I surrendered and took it to the dealership. The dealership told me this place used the wrong brakes and didn't lube them, and used the wrong fluid for the flush. The dealership essentially undid everything this place did and redid it all. Got some bodywork done at Uptown Automotive this past month after a parking incident. Tim Xiong off the bat was super helpful with assisting us navigate the insurance claim and the work that the car needed. He was very knowledgeable about the steps to take and was communicative with us throughout the whole repair. The car was returned looking better than ever- and with a full detail! They even managed to get some road-trip bugs off the front bumper/grill that I had struggled with myself. The repair is flawless, the car looks brand new, and the service was incredible! Mr. Gilbert Gonzalez was professional, welcoming, and honest from our first interaction in person, and on Yelp. I recommend him to all Yelp users, and I will give his name out to all friends and family in need of a trustworthy, honest, and friendly car mechanic. I reached out to Uptown Automotive on Yelp with a quote request to get scratches off of my bumper on my Prius. Mr. Gilbert answered my request and told me to come by the shop so that they could check out my issue. I came in this morning on 12/14. He checked out my issue, told me my three options, and let me know when one of his staff members would be able to get working on my car. I was given the option to either come back when a staff member could start working on my car, or I could wait in the lobby. I chose to stay in the lobby. The lobby area is fully stocked with coffee, plenty of magazines and books to read, and the tv is available to all waiting. Mr. Gilbert and his team fixed my issue in about 30 minutes. When I first saw my car, all I could say was "WOW!". I was in shock at the transformation. At first I couldn't tell which side had had the issue; it truly looked like it was fresh off of the dealer's lot! Mr. Gilbert took the time to get the love bugs off of my front bumper (I had just driven from Florida to Houston two weeks prior so my car took a beating by the love bugs) and wax the bumper at no extra charge! Soft top on convertible which worked when brought in no longer functions. Piece of door broken and left on front seat when returned. Misdiagnosed repairs. Left multiple messages for owner / manager to call and nothing. Left owner vm on cell phone no return calls. They don't give a damn. Car at reputable shop now assessing damages these savages did.
