Sadly it was just a miss for us. Started off good, ceasar salad was good, fried artichokes were excellent, meatballs were not for me; didn't care for the seasoning, heavy sauce. I order dinner and they were out of the hanger steak. My boyfriend ordered and they were out of the paella. I ended up getting the chicken cutlet board. The chicken was very dry, it was like a fish fry batter, not what I think of when I hear "cutlet". Over cooked, salty. My boyfriend got the salmon. I tasted it at the end of the meal, I couldn't even believe he tried to eat it. It was very overcooked and so fishy. Also it said that his potatoes were Lyonnaise potatoes, Definitely not, they were thickly sliced, lacked seasoning, just a miss. Drink service was very slow, forgot a drink too. The waiter mentioned they're in between menus; i'm hoping my feedback can be helpful to the restaurant. Also it is my pet peeve when servers don't tell you upon seating you that they are out of an item. Being they were out of both of the entrées we wanted we may have chose to leave and come back another day and possibly have a more positive experience. read more

I attended my daughter's ceremony, as she received high honors and a scholarship. We wanted to have a celebration dinner, but didn't want to go far, so we decided on Uptown since it is close to our house. We entered the establishment and we were seated right away. My daughter and I ordered the Hot Honey Wings for an appetizer, and my daughter had a Cheeseburger with French Fries, and I ordered the Meat Lovers Paella. I ordered the paella because I have always wanted to try it, but I don't eat seafood, so I'm glad they had a meat paella. If you're ordering the Pallea, it will take about thirty to thirty minutes, so I would order an appetizer. The wings came out, and they were good, and the sauce was good. My only problem is that many restaurants that make wings seem to miss the seasoning, and the wings were missing flavor. It was fried well, but it was missing flavor. I loved the Meat Lovers Paella, which was packed with flavor. The paella came out in a cast-iron pan, and the meats were cooked well. The steak was moist, full of flavor, and cooked well. The rice was full of flavor and delicious. The Paella had a rich flavor profile, with the prominent tastes of saffron and smoky paprika coming together to create a satisfying and aromatic experience. I would definitely be back for the Paella because the presentation was on point. The customer service was great as the waiter was friendly, outgoing, and very knowledgeable about the menu. read more

Incredibly happy I decided to try this place out for my friend's birthday dinner. There was plenty of seating inside and outside, the patio was spacious and a great vibe. Well decorated and good music choices. The service provided by Raven was absolutely incredible, super attentive and on point with recommendations. Love this restaurant it was in a quaint location on a small, central Avenue kind of area with Plenty of parking in the back. There was a beautiful wraparound porch patio, which is ideal for spring and summer days. The inside the decor was beautiful lots of room, there was the main room, and then additional large space to the right of the restaurant and patio seating out front as well Live music which was wonderful the ambience was great fun it was Sunday brunch and the food was terrific. I had the pancakes with bananas with cinnamon and vanilla and it was warm and also the fried chicken I could've done without the fried chicken just a breast cutlet with the rest of the brunch was awesome. Happened to be in Ansonia Monday morning near lunch time. One in the party is celiac so a quick search in maps for local places that had GF and open on Mondays. Uptown popped up and checked off both boxes. Got there right after opening at 12. Nice cozy modern atmosphere. Server was awesome and extremely knowledgeable on GF. Menu has everything noted for GF and Vegan. Started with Nachos, Salad and Blue bird Chicken. They really hit it out of the park. Couldn't have picked a better place. My best friend and I went to uptown on a Tuesday night. There was live music which we had no idea about until we got there and we're pleasantly surprised! We started with the special empanada which was mac and cheese and it was delicious! The crust was cooked perfectly and the chili Mac and cheese inside was so flavorful! For entrees we both had spicy penne alla vodka which had a huge piece of burrata on top and breaded chicken. The penne alla vodka was delicious and we were pleasantly surprised because uptown is not an exclusively Italian restaurant. This was my first visit since the change to Uptown from Crave. Again, friends were performing, I was out in the area with Writer Friend, so it seemed as good a time as any to stop in and check out the new spot. The first thing we noticed was the bar--twice as long as the original; It was much easier to find seats than in the past. They also expanded the lounge area into a full dining room, freeing up space in the bar for entertainment. There are also small conversation areas in the bar, with comfortable-looking couches and chairs that can accommodate small groups, and all of them were filled when we were there. The menu is different, with some favorites gone, replaced with what may be new favorites. Most of the new items are Uptown's twists on American comfort food, rather than Iberian-inspired, but you can still find empanadas and other traditional Crave items on the menu. Unfortunately, we had already eaten by the time we got there, so dinner is the plan for our next visit. And, one Crave tradition that has been held over is the "Cocktail of the Day"- That night was Empress Lemonade - Fresh lemonade mixed with Empress gin, which gave it a nice color. Plus, their outside area is still open, which is a favorite on weekends during nice weather. We're looking forward to a Sunday where we can sit out there and enjoy a few cocktails while we listen to one of the performers they have. There's music there quite often, even during the week. The Sunset Dream tequila drink was absolutely amazing! This is a speakeasy $20 drink for $12. Service was welcoming and friendly didn't feel like we needed to be regulars to feel welcomed. I had the blackened fish sandwich on gf roll with tots. Very good I just not crazy about tilapia so I probably wouldn't order again but can't wait to try something else next time. I was a previous diner at Crave- which was loved by myself and many of my friends. Last night was my second visit to Uptown. A Saturday night and only a few tables occupied. The bar also had many unoccupied seats. Our group enjoyed some wine and cocktails. Steaks were fine. The Mahi Mahi was as close to an old Crave entree and was good, but salty. The entire group at my table continue to wonder why the owner decided to change from Crave (diners from around Connecticut would go for great Latin food) to Uptown (an ordinary, unimaginative menu- tator tots, pasta with meatballs, chicken burrito bowl). I can dine anywhere and get this food, for less money too. The staff were friendly and helpful.
