My friend and I were visiting historic/downtown Ellicott and we saw a billboard for Uptown. We had been to a different Uptown Cheapskate and liked it that we decided to check out this location. It was a total whim and not planned. What I enjoyed is the organization of their products. Makes things so much easier when shopping. It seemed that there was more items at this store from tops in my size to handbags. I found a couple of things to try on...the fitting rooms are big and having different hooks made it easier to sort the items that I wanted to take vs pass on. I ended up buying two handbags, three shirts and a pair of Nike shoes. The shoes was the best purchase because I had been eyeing the same model but just in different colors. It was hard to justify since I didn't know if the shoes were going to be comfortable. Lo and behold....they were here at Uptown. They were my size, very comfortable and it looked like they had never been worn. SCORE! Plus, they were under $50, making them almost three times less expensive than what they originally run for. Staff was friendly during our time shopping at the store. Parking was plentiful since this store is in a shopping center. Too bad I live in on opposite side of the country, but I will definitely come back again. One of my best friends has been recommending that I check out uptown cheapskate for years. I was super excited when one opened up in Ellicott city that's close to me and I recently had a chance to check it out. I've been twice now and both times I found really cute things, but the price is a kinda hit or miss. a lot of things are a lot more overpriced than I thought they'd be. It is a Consignment shop and the pieces are in very high-quality but I still don't want to spend $60 in a consignment shop on one piece of clothing. I'm used to thrift store prices and this threw me off a bit. I did however find a really beautiful dress that I bought that I plan on wearing for my anniversary dinner and I found so many cute handbags and designer purses. I love that they have not only women's attire, but also men's, and they have a large handbag selection as well. read more

4.13.24 Cute thrift store located in the Normandy Center. This was my first visit at this location. It is nicely organized by size, color, article (jeans, athletics, tops, dresses, handbag, shoes, jewelry, etc), and a few designers (Lululemon, Madewell, Free People, Lilly Pullitzer). I saw a few items that were brand new with the original tags still on them. Today, there was a 20 and 40% markdown per their sign. Unfortunately I didn't find anything today, but it was a fun store to shop for trendy apparel and accessories. read more

This is a great concept 2nd hand shop for people to cycle their gently used name brand items. At the same time to support local business. The store is very well organized and clean. Staff were efficient given the amount of sellers they have to deal with on the daily basis. They do have a good selections of clothing, shoes and dresses. Selections of handbags are not ao much. Pricing of some clothing are not very good, for instance some Lululemon items and basketball shoes. For sellers, the wait can be long. They tell you 45min-1hr, but can take up to close to 2hr. And they tend to lowball the bags, not really a good place to sell your high-end handbags, hence they don't have much good selections. Sellers can get Better prices to sell via one of the online platforms. The clothes are nice enough, but do not get gifts for others here. The return policy is very stringent so you better know what they like. I got a jacket for Christmas that did not quite fit, but I could not exchange it because of the thirty day window had closed. I had tried taking it to a different uptown cheapskate during the thirty day window, but they are on different systems and cannot exchange between stores. Tags and everything were still on it, but they could not make an exception when I asked at the original store. read more

Wow a place that had gently used and in some cases new clothing at reasonable prices. Either take your old close in to sell and get some store credit or cold hard cash. The service is fast and the folks working there are always friendly and pleasant. (Can I get a discount). I always find men's clothes that are current and in great condition. Refused to look through a bag of shoes because they were in a garbage trash bag and not a "recycle/reusable" bag. Then offered to let me buy a reusable bag from them. Ridiculous. What does it matter how the merch gets there as long as it's good merch. read more

When you go in to sell your clothes the women are unfriendly. They act like you are an inconvenience to them and never smile or offer any pleasantries. They offer you pennies for your clothes just so they can sell them for more than double what they paid you for them. It's sad and a scam, AND they're rude. Find a consignment shop or use Facebook marketplace to sell. read more

Brought over 30 items from Nordstrom, J. Crew, and Banana Republic, and they only bought one item. Waited over 45 minutes for $4.00 in store credit. While I waited I noticed clothing for sale from H&M and Old Navy and Forever 21- but not quality brands. Never again! My daughter found a few reasonably priced items. read more

I went to sell my brand new FRIED RICE pants, they offered $20 or less. The original price is $395. They must be out of their damn mind. Imagine those clothes i sold already, the price they offered were way too low. Just like any other location, they intend to be shamelessly lowballing with no doubt. read more

We were trying to purchase clothes at the store. There were 8 staff members, including a manager, behind the counter sorting through clothing to buy. No one acknowledged us standing there waiting to BUY clothes. I asked one of the staff members if there was a specific register I should be at to be rung up and got a half mumbling response. I proceeded to stand there for a couple more minutes still with no acknowledgment - a "be right with you" would have worked fine. I refuse to beg a store to take my money so we left. They seem to more concerned with buying clothes then actually selling them. read more
