I completely understand that these places may be hit or miss, but it is my pet peeve when they are extremely selective and give you a BS response why they did not take your clothes. Most of my clothes are teenage styles, yet they told me that the styles were too mature. I called in advance to make sure my clothes were what they are currently buying. This bogus response was after waiting in store for over an hour, when I could have gone about my life. When my hit bags were handed back to me, I noticed one of them was splitting, so I asked if they had another Bag, and rather than answering me, the guy just turned his back on me and ignored me. I've given a really good review, and now I'm giving a bad. Perhaps bias is involved, but I'm extremely annoyed. read more

I used to love this Uptown Cheapskate location. The staff was always friendly, the selling process felt smooth, and I never left without at least an $80 payout. It genuinely felt worth my time, and I used to recommend this store to people. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was very different. The in-store pricing has gotten pretty high -- most items are $20+, which is often only about $5 off retail. For a resale store, that doesn't feel like much of a deal anymore. The bigger disappointment was the selling experience. We brought in three full bags of quality items, and while nothing was said outright, the staff's demeanor made it feel like it was an inconvenience. The energy felt rushed and dismissive. They ended up taking only five items, and one entire bag was returned to us in the exact same order we dropped it off -- clearly untouched. It was frustrating, especially considering how positive my experiences used to be here. I'm not sure what's changed, but this visit didn't reflect the friendly, fair experience I had come to expect from this location. read more

I used to love this Uptown Cheapskate and came here for a long time, but unfortunately the experience has gone downhill. The biggest issue is the customer service. Most of the employees at the Frisco location seem unhappy, and the overall atmosphere feels unwelcoming. During my last visit, I had to wait about an hour on the wooden bench while my clothes were being sorted because customers aren't allowed to leave the store. I even asked if I could step outside to take a work call, and I was told I couldn't leave. I recently tried the Little Elm location for the first time, and the difference was night and day. The staff was much friendlier, the payout for my clothes was noticeably higher, and they even give you 24 hours to come back and pick up your cash. The manager also came over personally, apologized after noticing some of my items had been undervalued, and adjusted my payout without me even asking. Based on my experience, I highly recommend the Uptown Cheapskate in Little Elm instead. The better customer service and fairer payouts made all the difference. My daughter and I both left feeling much more appreciated there. read more

Bad buy back/ selling experience. Staff told me when sell bag is ready. The notification will be sent via email, instead I got a text. Staff informed me if I get a text before 5 PM, I have to go pick up the sale back and the leftover on same day, instead I got a text after 5 PM, and the text still asked me to go pick up the same day. read more

Quality of clothing and shoes is comparable to any Goodwill in the area. Prices are very high considering the quality.

It's a busy store but they have a wide selection of styles and items! The service is always friendly and welcoming. If you are selling they may have a long wait time but you can choose to wait in store or drop off. read more

I have frequented this location typically to sell/ donate items. The store is clean and the staff is very kind. They do have a decent selection of items but I tend to just never find anything I want to buy (except for maybe 1x). The value for the items they sell can be a little scammy at times, especially if they give you 75$ for lightly worn shoes (multiple pair) and you see them selling one those items for way more. This is the first uptown cheapskate that I've ever been to and what a disappointment! I was there browsing for a least 20 minutes and encountered 3 different employees no one spoke one single word, no hello's or help offered at all. Went in for the first time today I was referred by a friend at work. First off, it did not smell old and stuffy, like that "thrift store" smell. The store was clean, fresh, and the clothes did not make me sneeze. It's actually a high end thrift store. Very color coordinated, lots of cute pieces. I even saw some used Tory Burch handbags. This place has a lot to choose from, lots of sizes and types of clothes. I have found stuff that I haven't been able to find at Allen and Wylie's uptown cheapskate. They get pretty busy with buys, but they do give you a good time estimate. I like that they have good pricing and sales pretty often, I'll definitely go here again even though it's much further away from me. read more

I have been buying used and donating my old clothes very frequently lately. This store stands out from the others in their drop off policy. The policy is you can wait in store, for half an hour or so, and then get the offer on your clothes. The other option is to drop off, wait for an email within the next 24-48 hours, and then come back. This was not going to work for me as I just wanted to drop off, run an errand, then come back. Its a very simple thing I wanted to do. Once I returned half an hour later, they asked if I was there to drop off or pick up. I said I am there to hear my offer, that I already dropped off thirty minutes ago. I explained that I've already waited my time, just not in the store... I am a busy man and had to run another errand. What did they expect me to do for thirty minutes? Walk around the store? And FWI if you don't arrive in store, the day they reach out to you on email (anywhere from 24-48 hours after drop off), they automatically 'donate' your clothes. The clothes were very unorganized and not in the correct spots for sizing. The staff was so focused on getting clothes on the racks that you kept bumping into them and were not very nice. Ship is FULL of clothes! Have been to a couple other Uptown's (independently owned). This store would benefit from a little organization though. The other stores I've been to have clothing organized by size & color & type, & the Big/expensive brand names (Free People, Prada and others eg) have their own special racks.
