I've been bringing my pitbull here for the past 3 years to get her nails trimmed. Today when i took her in, we were greeted by a new gal. The grooming section definitely looks neater and cleaner. She immediately loved on my girl and asked what she needed. When i told her a nail trim, i also said that they always muzzle her when they put her on the table. She asked me if she bites, and i said No.. but everyone just muzzles her. She said she didnt need one and promptly got down on the floor with. Kisses were exchanged and after a few minutes of talking and a meet and greet , she started clipping the nails. Im not even sure my dog even knew she was getting a trim.. there was no flinching or wimpering or blood!!!! (The previous groomer always clipped her too short and Essa would bleed all over the table) I was in shock!!! She managed to do each paw and Essa never snapped or jerked or cried at all!! I absolutely love shopping here, everyone is always so nice, however every time I go in there it is way too hot... it makes me not even want to go in there to shop especially when it's a hot day. And Yucaipa can get hot. I feel so bad for the employees that have to be in there all day long even being in there 5 minutes you start to sweat not sure how those are acceptable work conditions. read more

I've been coming here ever since I've been a pet owner. Good selection, good prices, and great customer service. I recently purchased Blue Buffalo puppy food and after a day I noticed some changes in my dog's behavior. He had diarrhea, was more lethargic than usual, and he wouldn't eat. I came across consumer reports online on this brand of food and pet owners having to go to the vet for kidney issues. I immediately emailed the manager who was quick to respond and allowed me to exchange the product for something better. I came in and was greeted by the guy at the cash register who was very helpful. So I just read that ever one loves the groomer. I love the store it has everything you need, I buy treats and food there all the time. But the groomer was EVIL. I normally take my dog to Animal Medical Center of Redlands to be groomed. But I wanted to give Up Town my business. So I made an appointment for my dog to be groomed. When I brought her in I asked my husband to just walk her around the the store while I told the groomer she was there. She asked for the dogs name and then said "oh she is a Shepherd mix, if she show any signs of aggression i will not help you" (when I made the appointment I told the girl that she was a Shepherd mix and shy). I then told the groomer that we actually found out that she has not Shepherd in her at all and that we just adopted her. The groomer then asked what she was. And I said a Chow Chow and Newfoundland, Shar-pei and Pomeranian. The groomer then proceeded to tell me that Chows and Shar-peis breeds should be put down... She hadn't even met my dog yet and was telling me that her breed should be put down! What the heck is wrong with this lady! I completely understand her concern for her safety but you don't tell someone that their dog should be put down. Especially since you hadn't even met it yet and it hadn't done anything wrong. Now I feel like I cant give them my business. I always bought my dog food from them and was going in at least every two weeks and spending over $50 on dog treats... read more

I've been in this pet store more than a dozen times since they opened and every time they do not have what im looking for. I've been here for rabbit food which I first bought from them thinking it woukd be easy to swing by here and pick up when needed, nope they only had it that one time. Every time I get the response "well we can order it or it will be in tomorrow." I live in the mountains I cant easily come back tomorrow. There have been many other times for different normal pet supplies and no luck. Its become a joke in our household. They do not stock things consistantly here. read more

Won't shop here for fish anymore. Bought several fish and a crayfish. All the fish are thriving and 180 gallon tank's parameters are good ( temp, ph, and nitrates). However, a blue crayfish that I purchased at the same time died 3 days later. They don't offer any credit or exchange, and obviously this isn't a water quality issue. Wish there was better customer service on this aspect, even if they require a water test. read more

If you live in Yucaipa or close to here you're better off driving to petco. We adopted a kitten from yaps and went to uptown pets to get litter. It was the lavender scented one and she would not use it she ended up going potty in a different area of the house. We called to ask for a refund because she wouldn't use it and the manager said nope can't return it to the manufacturer if it's opened and couldn't even offer us a store credit of some sort. On top of that everything there is WAY overpriced. The lavender litter was 8.99 for a 7 pound bag. Petcos price for their all natural litter was 7.99 for a 16 pound jug and it's refillable for 5.99. Great store, large selection, knowledgeable staff, and good prices. My cat has a skin issue and he can really only eat one food, which they actually carry in stock, yay! However I slacked and ran out, when I went to get it they were out also, but they were kind enough to give me enough free samples so I'd have a few days worth of food until their stock came in. PLUS its cheaper than the place I was getting it before, woo hoo! I also saw them patiently explain a ton of options an elderly woman to help her dog. Good selection on good quality foods, treats, and chews. Decent on their pet care supplies. They have an assortment of grooming tools and products that are excellent for a pet parent to use in between grooms. I have purchased a few puzzle toys here. They have a nice selection of leashes, collars, harnesses, etc. they also have supplies for small animals, such as pet rodents, birds, and fish, as well as a small section dedicated to livestock. I enjoy coming here just to browse and spoil my dog! My only hitch with this place is the high price tag. Everything here is bound to be two to three dollars more than if I were to find the same thing at Petco. But hey, support local small businesses, right? read more

I completely disagree with all of the negative reviews. The staff was very helpful and very knowlegeable. We were there for close to and hour and had non stop help from the staff talking about the different brands of food and which would be best for our newfoundland puppy. The prices didn't were very similar to other stores that we have been to. We shop around and go to many different pet stores all over the Inland empire and will definitely be back here. I went to their groomer named Penny. I asked for a wash and trim of my toy Pomeranian. When I picked him up he was shaved! Very disappointed. She explained that she use the wrong trimmer, it was a very poor job at that, she didn't even trim his nails, I'll never go back to her again. Now he's shivering in the cold weather, and I have to put him in a sweater. read more

This was a horrible experience ‼Took two dogs into the shop today to get them cut and washed. Was not exactly sure how I want them cut but told the lady doing the cutting that it was up to her just not to shave them. When I went to pick them up they were shaved. When I told the lady that she shaved them she made a snippy comment about their harnesses being to tight. But never addressed the fact that she did the only thing that I asked her not to do.
