For my first time using a mobile groomer it was vary easy. Dustin took care of our two boys they came back cleaner and softer then I've ever cleaned them. I'm a do it yourself kind of a person but our basset hound is a pain to trim his nails but that is included with baths so that is what sold me on trying a mobile groomer. It makes it worth it to me to get nails trimmed and I hate brushing the dogs also. With that said I will use Baxter again. Only constructive criticism I would say is I'm disappointed I can't find Baxters website? I've found other groomers that you can book appointments online I like that hope Baxter would consider that. I know you can Book appointments on Facebook but not everyone uses Facebook. The thing I like about having a website you can see details of service and prices. I just had another great experience with Dustin and Baxter's Mobile Salon. I have a little dog but he is wild. Like super wild. And he came back in about 45 minutes looking like nice and clean. Although Ollie is not a fan of being groomed he loves Dustin and didn't want to leave him. Even after Dustin left he was sniffing the door looking for him. Most recently I had to pick my pup up at a vet and the groomer didn't finish her grooming due to slicing her ear. The vet glued but it did not attach back properly. I could go on and on but suffice it to say I'm seriously fed up with the grooming industry (although it is very necessary). Dustin is awesome. And my 13yr old dog loved him. Above and beyond! I couldn't be more happy with the service and results! I called to get quotes from a bunch of mobile groomers. They were the only ones to call back and they fit me right in. My 2 dogs dug under our fence and ran off. We found them the same day but they were both filthy! From digging, cutting them self on the fence and who knows what else they got into! The groomers came with in a couple days. They actually brought my trash cans in from the street! They had leashes ready for the dogs. They were great with the dogs (my Lab is very scared of water and hates baths). They were so dirty they had to give them 2 baths to get them clean! They didn't even charge extra even though I know my dogs were way more work! Then once finished they were worried about the dogs getting out again and secured our fence with their own bungee cords! I wish I could give minus 5 stars to this groomer. I had told the "just my scheduler", as he called his office staff, that my toy poodle needed to be groomed gently because she is elderly and has knee problems which makes standing for extended periods painful and a trachea problem, so he would need to be careful about water in her face. These are common problems with toy breeds. The "scheduler" stated the groomer she would send was both gentle and kind and it would be no problem to groom Gigi. She has been groomed many times, and every groomer reports that she is easy to groom, very quiet and calm. She is also generally a stoic, and very rarely yelps or whimpers, even when in pain. I know It is cause for alarm if she ever cries out. The groomer did not introduce himself upon arrival, and seemed mostly concerned with where he could plug in his power cord and get started. When I reminded him about Gigi's issues, he seemed angry at life, and retorted impatiently that maybe she needed to be groomed by a vet instead of him. He was rude, impatient and clearly did not want to groom her. I told him that if he didn't want to groom her, he should just say so, because I had told his "scheduler" about Gigi's special needs, but about which he now clearly had no clue, ( which is indicative of their professionalism). He retreated from his high-handed attitude then, and I attempted to calm him down by saying (note I'm the one trying to help him here) that He just needed to slow down and be calm and patient with my little dog and it would be fine. Basically, just breathe. He was the exact opposite of what I had read in Baxter's Grooming reviews, which do mention a sister and another groomer, so perhaps I just got the angry one and not the positively reviewed ones. My gut told me that I should not trust this guy, and my gut was correct. Because I was very uneasy about him with the bad attitude, I sat on the porch to keep an eye and ear on the situation. It wasn't ten minutes before I heard an agonized scream from my stoic little pup. I then told him to give me my dog back and leave. He retorted that he hadn't done anything to hurt her (riiight) and I should know he had "recorded everything", which sounds very weird. Previous problems, perhaps? I have used many groomers through the years, mobile and otherwise, and have never encountered one who so clearly hates his job, and doesn't mind being a jerk with both the customer and the helpless dog with whom he has been entrusted. I did notice (belatedly) that there are no reviews for poodle grooming or any other breed requiring more than a bath, brushing and perhaps a light trim. A lack of skill may have been the basic problem, as he did seem surprisingly confused about something as simple as how to trim her tail, but whatever the reason, my dog was hurt unnecessarily and I wouldn't let Baxter's Grooming darken my driveway again. UPDATE to Dustin's response to this incident: FIRST, let's clarify the facts about Gigi's past health issues: I did not say anything about her eye being almost gouged out. You were not paying attention. I told you about her once having had her cheek badly burned by the clippers. The fault of a sloppy groomer, as you well know. The near death incident during a dental cleaning was due to the general anesthesia, and I didn't suppose you were going to administer anesthesia to groom her. It was an attempt to impress on you that she is getting up in years, and should be handled gently. Our advice about how to approach a new client: FIRST, introduce yourself, and take a minute to find out a little about the dog you will be grooming. Remember, trust is earned, not automatically given to someone you have just met and to whom you are going to hand over your precious and helpless little pet. Your customers ARE judging you, as well they should. The pet doesn't get a vote. Next, if your office staff does not convey any of the information previously given to her by the New client, your complaint is with your staff, or yourself for not asking. *You refer now, in a later post, to Gigi's sensitive skin. That was what I told your office, not you. Clearly, you did ask, after the fact, what I told your scheduler. You should ask her first, before you arrive. Your priorities are backwards. Maybe you cannot do the grooming before you "set up", but you certainly can't do it before you know anything about the dog either. MOST IMPORTANTLY: I hope prospective customers do watch the video, taken without our permission, and see your version of handling an elderly dog "gently". You are practically slapping her ears with the brush.It makes me cry when I see you twist her little sore leg backwards and hear her scream. Do you even know what a subluxated patella is? You don't say one word to reassure her the whole time, your only sound a bored sigh.The video does show you as you are, and shows a patient trusting little dog being hurt. Shame on you. read more
